I'm really enjoying the 3DS version of Mario Maker. I like that they added in tutorials and tips on how to build out levels and how to use all the different items to make your level stick out. The only feature keeping me from giving the game 5 stars is that they left out the ability to browse and download levels like you can on the Wii U. As someone who doesn't own a Wii U I was bummed about it, but it wasn't a deal breaker. If I had a Wii U I don't think I would have invested in also having a 3DS version of the game. One other gripe more towards Nintendo.....the game has no 3D! What's the point of the 3D part of 3DS if games aren't going to have that feature....

This game is great for both creativity and challenge! Not as good as the Wii U version but nice to own a portable version.

I bought this game for my son because he enjoyed the Wii U version so much. The graphics (obviously) aren't as good as the Wii U version but is a really good port regardless. My son loves it.

My son loves playing this game due to the fact he can make his on levels. It's a good challenge for him

Great classic Mario gameplay with the added bonus of being able to make your own custom level's.

This game was for my nephew and he really liked it. He likes building his own Mario world

My kids love the game. They can't stop playing. They love to make their own worlds.

As all super Mario games is very entertaining, my child loves it, easy to play.

The game is exactly as you would expect if you played the wii U version. Except for one BIG drawback, Nintendo cut the social features. So no sharing levels you create or playing ones that others have created. That is one of my favorite aspects to the Wii U version. Looking past that though everything else is still there and still a lot of fun to just sit and play with, and you can take it with you. If you don't have a Wii U, I'd pick this one up, but if you're trying to decide between the two go for the Wii U version.

Great game for younger kids. Hours of fun. My two girls were very happy.

I am enjoying this game(SUPER MARIO MAKER 3DS). I can make my own games to play or I can just play the 100 games it has so YEA IT IS FANTASTIC FOR KIDS AND ADULTS THAT LOVE TO PLAY THESE KIND OF GAMES. YOU KNOW- MAKE YOUR OWN GAME OR PLAY GAMES THAT GO ON FOR UP TO 10 SPACES TO RESCUE THE PRINCESS. IT HAS BEEN FUN FOR ME. SO I LOVE THIS GAME ALOT, THANK YOU TEXANA

If you expect this to be exactly like the Wii U version it's not. Not all the features are there but still fun regardless.

Since it's a creation game it has infinite replayability, I can't get him off the game! Worthwhile purchase for lovers of Mario games

This is a great way to be creative with mario. You can save the levels and play them, comes with some already created.

Like many others I was really excited when this was announced, but then a little let down as features were announced. Unlike it's big brother, Mario Maker for Wii U, this version would focus on levels created by Nintendo Staff rather than letting you download online creations from the community. You can still transfer levels, but only via StreetPass so not as easy as before. Also all amiibo functionality (like Mario Maker 2 on Switch) is gone. But with those things acknowledged what is left is still a surprisingly capable port of the Wii original. The level creation tools are all still largely in place and the ability to create cool creations on the go is nice. Playing this in 2020 isn't as much of a novelty with Mario Maker 2 on Switch largely doing everything this offers but better. Still if you have a 3DS this game is unique and worth playing for it's many included levels and fun creation tools that aren't mirrored 100% playing Mario Maker 2 on Switch.
