Customers consistently note the wonderfully put together gameplay and accessible level creation tools as major strengths of Super Mario Maker. The game's creativity and fun are frequently praised, along with its ease of use and significant replay value. Many players highlight the abundance of content available. A minor drawback mentioned by some is the unlocking process for certain game features.

This is a very creative game for people of all ages. It is also so much fun to play the levels that others have created! Overall Nintendo has done a great job once again. Oh, and if you have amiibos you can use them in the game

My kids absolutely, positively LOVE this game! They are actually playing it right now as I type this and I would say that there is a good chance that they will be playing it as you read this. They love using all of the various tools, backgrounds, items, sound effects, etc. to create the different levels. They have recently taken to trying to recreate stories, shows, rides at theme parks - just about anything - into a mario level. As a parent, I especially like that it seems to be developing creativity and critical thinking skills. My kids used to draw mario levels on paper all of the time - so now they are actually creating levels that they can then play. It's great! Oh, and if you have amiibos, then they will add various costumes to the characters which is fun. Highly recommended!

Another high quality Nintendo game for the Wii U. The game does a good job of presenting the tools for you to work with and helps you learn them in order to create unique and interesting levels. Great game for anyone creative.

Bought this game for my 6 1/2 year old son, and he loves it! Creating his own game levels & worlds just thrills him. It's easy enough for him to figure out without adult hand holding. Keeps him busy for hours on Saturdays:-)

This game allows you to relive your childhood, and make many crazy new Mario concepts. This has created a fantastic community of level designers that allow us to explore Mario on a different level. Fantastic fun as a result.

Best 2D Super Mario Game To Date

By far the best 2D super mario game to date. What more could one ask than to have an essentially unlimited # of levels to beat. The game has continued to get supported/improved by Nintendo as well, which is a huge plus.

I recall playing Super Mario Bros. as soon as unpacked my first Nintendo in 1985. And whenever a level completely cofounded me and led me to toss the controller across the room, I wished that I could change the level -- strategically move a brick, or turn a jumping turtle into a walking one. ...and now I can. As a nostalgic Nintendo fan (I'll probably always have a Nintendo unit at home because that's how I grew up...and, Sega doesn't make consoles anymore), this game hits that sweet spot. The ability to design stages from a multitude of Mario generations is incredible. I just love that the graphical integrity of each generation has been retained, and sharing new levels adds an unexpectedly fun social aspect. If you're a Mario fan, I'd saw this is a MUST.

This game is great if you are creative or if you enjoyed level creation in games like little big planet. Of course it's Mario so it had all the classic characters and music. Which brings on the nostalgia if you've ever played a Mario game before. I had fun playing his game but I wouldn't say it's something I will play a lot in the future once the novelty wears off.

Great creative tool; you can create your own levels but you can also play other levels online, by selecting a creator, or some random levels, challenges, etc., it has been a day and there are already more levels than you will ever have time to play. The only negative, it takes too long to unlock some pretty basic content, I have to wait until tomorrow for the second "item delivery" and we've played more than 6 hours already. They should have a faster unlocking schedule.

I bought this game as a Christmas present for my son, who is a huge Minecraft fan. Remarkably, Super Mario Maker has been the first thing to temper his "Minecraft mania" in months. He loves creating new and unique courses, and then testing them out on his parents. He then tweaks them to perfection before posting them to the internet and sharing them with his friends and the rest of the world. If you're not a creative type, there is an endless array of user-created courses online to try out. There is also a 10-course challenge mode that changes daily. Because of this, the possibilities are endless. Also, Nintendo has been regularly updating the game to add new abilities to the crafting menu. You can't go wrong with this game!

The ability to make any level you want is pretty awesome, but the best part of this game is being able to play an infinite selection of Mario levels. If you love Mario, this will literally never get old.

An Amazing Game, But Be Warned

As an avid Mario fan, I could not be happier. Being able to create my own stages is an awesome thing, along with playing creations by other players. Be warned though that not everyone who uploads stages is great at stage design. You'll likely run into stages that seem incomplete, badly designed, or abuse near pixel perfect jumps along with a few thing you may not have known were possible. Luckily you can skip those stages when you reach them. Also, Expert 100 Mario Challenge will live up to its name. Expect it to be filled with many of the aforementioned pixel perfect jumps and require such precision that you may find yourself skipping stage after stage until you find one that matches your skill level.

This game takes you back to that nostalgic feel you got when playing any of the older Super Mario games. That and add in the fact that you can build you own levels and share them online. Classic game.

New game is a bit tough to get started. After you get the hang of things, it is hard to put down! Let your creativity flow. Only downside, you do have to unlock certain things as the game progresses.

When Super Mario Maker was first announced, I just thought "that looks neat" but didn't have much invested in purchasing or playing it; it just looked like an experiment in fanservice. Yet as the release got closer, and reviews came out, I also got more excited, and it was warranted: it's a classic Mario platformer in so many ways, but with the twist that you're playing levels you either construct yourself or find from the millions that other gamers have created to amuse or torture you. There are endless experiences to be had, and so many modes to keep you busy when you aren't building levels yourself, but if all you want to do is play Mario, there's more of that to go around than ever.
