It would take pages and pages to explain all that makes the Smash Bros series such a fan favorite, but it starts with the easy to learn yet difficult to master controls, the unique physics based gameplay, and the fact that every game is essentially a digital museum to all of the great Nintendo franchises over the years. The 3DS entry of Smash nails all of that and adds the ability to customize characters, create personalized Mii Fighters, an improved online experience, and of course play Smash on the go. The roster is huge and characters unlock quickly, which does contribute to the single player experience feeling a bit more shallow than Brawl, but there's still plenty to do, and the active online community will likely provide replay value for years to come.

I spent the first few days after the game game was released debating on whether or not I should get the 3DS version or just sit and wait for the Wii U version to come out. After finding/hearing a lot of good reviews from both websites and friends, I decided to go ahead and buy it. It took a few days to get because it was sold out everywhere I went (which only made me want it more) but when I finally got my hands on it, I couldn't put it down. I unlocked all the characters (surprisingly quickly) and had a blast playing with friends, family, and strangers alike. I can't wait for the Wii U version to come out, but I know I'll still have plenty to do with this game (unlocking costumes and customizations) until it does get released.

This game was fun, exciting but not too challenging for my son. It's filled with numerous characters which makes it really cool. He's enjoying it still!

Smash Bros for the Wii U is one of, if not the, best fighting game I have played in years. Its graphics, gameplay, style, sound, story and arenas (to name a few items) are all excellent. The use of the aMiibos with the game add an extra dimension of interactive play I have never seen before that one has to experience.

Really good - but home console version is best

Let me start by saying that a handheld version of Super Smash Bros. is overdue - long overdue. Gamers have been waiting years for this one, and I think most fans would be willing to buy this game even if it was a poor make. The opportunity to smash it up anywhere is too good to pass up. This game is not a poor make. On the contrary, it is polished and well done. It has an impressive roster and large set of levels for a handheld. There are just a few small things that make the home version better than the handheld version. First, the smaller screen of a handheld makes it harder to keep track of all that's going on. Super Smash is a chaotic game, and a large screen is helpful for keeping track of everything. The characters and, especially, the items are harder to see on a handheld. Also, the controls are just a little more awkward on the handheld. It is really hard to use the shield and do the sidestep - because you can only use R to do it, not L. And the handheld joystick isn't quite as good at distinguishing between simple A moves and smash A moves. Every once in a while my character does the wrong move. Aside from these minor imperfections, Super Smash has made a very successful transition to the handheld. I would definitely recommend it. If you are only going to get one version of the game, though, the home console version is the best.

I found this game to be done pretty well even though I had a lot of complaints such as no Lucas. I feel that they done good. I love the music and can't wait to get the free sound track from Nintendo once I register both the 3ds version along with the wiiu version. The controls are a bit wonky but you can change them in settings, 3D seems to actually work decently with this game too (I have yet to experience that in a game). There are many different modes, right now I am enjoying smash run with my friends, and have yet to stop playing from the day I got it. Online play seems better than it was in brawl, at least I think. So I would recommend this to you and all your friends. Hopefully they'll have a dlc with Lucas. ;D

I have been a fan of the Smash Bros. franchise since the very first installment way back when. The core mechanics have been preserved on this, the first title in the series to land on a hand held. I never thought I'd need to play on the go, but it has been lots of fun! If you enjoy Smash Bros, you will enjoy this.

At the age of 11 my son says it is a really good fighting game. There is not any blood. Two characters rush at each other and punch and kick. Using a combination of attacks at your opponent, you lower their health meter (hopefully before yours is depleted) until it is announced that they have been K.O.ed.

Nintendo rarely ever has sales on their games so to find this at $10 less, it was a no brainer to pick up for this quality of game. It's truly fun whether you like fighters or just to remember all the old characters across games through out the decades. Easy play and can be played for hours or small bursts.

This was on the top of my son's list of gifts he wanted, but the multiple stores I went to were sold out. I ordered it here from Best Buy and had it within just a few days. My son loves it and plays it constantly. I don't play video games, but my son says this is one of the best they've made in a long time.

If you don't happen to own a Wii U (honestly, why don't you?) then this is as close as you'll get to the Wii U version. Love being able to play the Wii U version anywhere in my house and taking the 3DS one anywhere I go. Can't go into details but I'm waiting on MewTwo which comes out in Spring! Just get it!

I have enjoyed playing Smash so much. It has unexpectedly became my favorite game of the year. I purchased the game first for my Wii U & liked it so much I purchased the 3ds version so I could take it with me. I love playing online against others or doing 8 player Smashes with chaos happening every second.

Got this title for my son for his birthday per his request and he has been thrilled with it. We have the Wii U version as well and he can link up and use the 3DS to control a player. I think he's deep in training for the next major battle now so I hope to see him come out of his room again one day soon.

A fantastic and addictive multiplayer experience that can be enjoyed by the hardcore gamer at a tournament level, or just by a person having fun at a geeky party. Plus since you can use your 3ds as a controller you can hone your skills with it no the go, then show of your moves on some ones WiiU!

I'm not a die hard fan of Smash Brothers but since I bought the Wii U version, I figured I tried this. This game got me hocked on it and actually got me to play with Wii U version which I now like a LOT! before I just played it a couple of times but now it's a great game to unwind and relax

Smash Bros on the go! Do I need to say anymore? I must have for anyone with Wii U with a copy of smash bros. and a 3DS. If you have this version in addition to the Wii U version you're able to use your 3DS as another controller which comes in handy for the Wii U's 8 player battle mode.
