Customers admire Super Smash Bros.' engaging gameplay and diverse roster of characters, both new and returning. Many find the game fun and easy to pick up, although some experienced challenges with the controls initially. While some players found the single-player mode lacking, the extensive content kept others entertained. We have finally been treated to the 4th edition of Nintendo's flagship brawler, Super Smash Brothers. The wait has been worth it, treating us to a huge roster, stages a-plenty and plenty of custom options. Not to mention brilliant Amiibo support (if you can find any.) I personally miss the single player campaign mode present in the Wii version and the custom controls annoyingly cannot be set to default. Apart from those niggles the game is brilliantly presented and 8 player battling is a lot of fun! I also recommend the 3DS version!

Super Smash Bros for Wii U is an amazing game with so much to offer. The roster is huge with over 50 characters (more being released with DLC also). There are a good amount of stages with each game being represented. New items, custom move sets, amiibo support, and so many other improvements make this one of the best in the series. The game handles very well (slower than Melee but faster than Brawl) and seems to be more balanced. The online works ok but is never as fast as a local game. This is great game that brings together all of Nintendo's beloved franchises. This fighting game is unique to all other fighting games and is great for all players.

This is a great title for when you have a couple friends over. Fast paced fun. This game can be simple or complex depending on your style of play. Not too mention there are a ton of characters in the game each with their own style of play. If you enjoyed any of the previous Smash Bros games this one is a no brainer purchase.

A Good Comeback

For those who love the Smash Bros series - and I have since their first game - this is another classic installment. I've purchased every Smash Bros game except the Wii version. Having played the Wii version, I was extremely disappointed with how small the stages were... all of them. Even the old stages that you could win were scaled massively smaller. I also didn't care for the gameplay itself.
This game, for the Wii U, felt like a return to form. Having read reviews beforehand, I was expecting sheer gold - a revolutionary update that ADDED a lot to the old games. I can't say that was true for me. Yes, there were a lot of new stages and characters. But there was hardly anything else that was better unless you compare it to the Wii's disappointment. I miss some of the GameCube's features still, but ultimately this was a return to form. A comeback after the last disappointment.
If you're expecting some mind-blowing improvement from GameCube's version... Well, you might be slightly disappointed. It's basically the same game with better graphics. But for those of us who loved the series, more of the same is not bad at all.

If you own a Wii U, buy this game. If you don't, buy a Wii U and this game. There is a very extensive amount of content, is full of Nintendo history, and is a blast to play!

The game runs well at 1080p and 60fps by limiting detail and providing no AA. Particularly for a 2D fighter, it's a smart call. More importantly, the game provides exceptional fun for the following crowds:
1. Party players looking for something to occasionally pull out to entertain groups. The game is great for pass-the-controller play in large groups and even offers up to eight-player simultaneous gameplay, provided you own enough of Nintendo's pricey controllers.
2. Hardcore fans. These people don't really need my review, but they'll be happy with the game. Mechanics are still a bit more casual than they are in Melee, but this is much more feature-rich, perhaps still falling short of Brawl in content but being well ahead of Brawl in mechanics/gameplay.
3. Young Nintedo gamers. There is depth to be found, but it remains true that Smash Bros. is highly accessible for younger and less experiences players. Even button-mashing is fun!
Long story short, it's an excellent game. It's higly recommended if you play with others locally and not quite so highly recommended if you're more of a loner or an online-only player, however.

I haven't owned a Smash Bros. game since the N64 and barely played the other two installments but this game is wonderful. It's easy to get into and learn the controls, even easy enough for my children (ages 5 & 9). Collecting the trophies, new moves, and equipment is lots of fun. Fighter customization gets better the more you play. Additionally, the amiibo support is loads of fun. Being able train them is an interesting and unique process as they keep learning from you. 5/5 stars all the way.

Ever since I was young super smash bros for the n64 was phenomenal, I loved playing it for countless hours. Unfortunately I was never into the Wii edition of Super Smash Bros Brawl, I don't know I just never liked it too much was wrong or really different to me, so I was really hesitant to buy the wii u version, but man am I glad i bought it, Playing Smash bros even as a senior in college with some of your friends is one of the funnest things ever. Smash got its mojo back and its amazing.
Pro:

Moves more polished

Nintendo has outdone themselves yet again with this latest installment of their Super Smash Bros franchise. In the ever growing and evolving library of Nintendo games, Super Smash Bros. still remains to be an all time favorite of many. With more new characters, levels, amiibo functionality, this game is action packed and never dull.
This is one game purchase you will not regret for your WiiU
The only downside is that Nintendo has discontinued Miiverse now, which means tournaments and in-game picture sharing no longer functions.

Being a veteran of all the Smash titles so far, I have to say that this game is pretty much packed with content.
Some might say that the combat lost its luster since Melee, but I'd say, if anything, this title is basically a straight upgrade to Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
The only thing I miss is Adventure mode, but since Co-Op Classic mode is a thing now, it makes up for it a bit. It'd make for a good DLC though later!
I also highly recommend getting the Wii U Pro Controller for the game. Just makes the game that much better not having to use the Wii Remote and Nunchuck setup.

I've loved the Smash Bros. games for years ever since the original on the N64. This game doesn't disappoint. It offers a wide range of characters with different abilities and a ton of great areas to fight in.
Be aware that for the first time Nintendo offers DLC for this game so you may want to invest in Nintendo points cards and/or an SD card for your WII U so you can have extra storage for your console.
I'm not a fan of the whole Amiibo/Skylanders craze, but you don't need them for this game to be enjoyable so fear not! Buy this game and play with confidence!

This is just what you expect it is. It's Super Smash Brothers with more characters, more stages, and more stuff. Some things work better than others (there's a few game modes that I felt fell a little flat), but there's a lot here. That said, if you don't have any friends to play it with, you might find yourself bored before too long. This was a game meant to be shared. The online matches work alright (though lag can be a problem), and that's a big help. Honestly there's very little to complain about here and a lot to praise. The game feels tight and it's a lot of fun.
