I'm relatively new to HT purchases, but i've already owned a Martin Logan Dynamo 700w and a 1000w for a few weeks each until I've had to return them both because they just weren't a fit for me. I'm EXTREMELY hard to please when it comes to audio. They were decent subs but to me, not worth the hefty price tags on each one.
In-home consult manager told me about this sub and praised it for being the best bang for the buck. I figured it would be great at low volumes and have a ton of trouble when cranked up near reference, for that price.
Right out of the box, without even having the sub broken-in, sounds better than the ML's I had previously after having been broke in for a couple weeks each. There are differences and I think ML is slightly better for music but my primary usage is for movies and big action sequences. Room is roughly 12x18 and this single sub fills it with plenty of kick right out of the box. I can only imagine what it will be like after about 20 hours of break-in.

I like the sound for Music a lot, however I can't listen to any songs with heavy bass without this thing chuffing. The noise produced is loud enough to hear through the sound or the music or movie.
This has the potential to be an amazing sub, especially for the price and size, but can't figure out why it's chuffing so bad.

Not as good for me as others it seems.

I probably would have thought this was a great sub if I had never had an Episode. Lots of boom but not much impact, had to move it directly behind seating to be able to feel impact during movies. Had to turn it way up to really get it going then it started getting sloppy. Would rattle the upstairs for sure because it was against a wall but then dissipated quickly in seating area. To be fair our theatre area opens into a large finished basement so the space is probably better suited to a 12" sub and was likely eating up this 10". Lots of variations in room size, furniture, etc so hard to get much from someone else's reviews. Went ahead and returned it and ordered another Episode, my last one got left behind as part of house sale, was hoping I could be happy for less money but will have to come up with a little more for the Episode. At the 12" SVS price point an Episode or Phase Tech can easily be had so why bother.
