The cameras could be clearer but they are getting the job done.

one camera out of the box was no good. several calls to swan customer service,each with an hour wait time,had zero results and it has been a month since first call. I would not buy another product from swann.

We purchased this sytem and it works great. It is very easy to hook up once you get everything laid out and if you need support, they are open 24/7. The night vision is fantastic. Our neighbor purchased a commercial grade sytem and their picture looks just like ours, they just spent a lot more money. If you want to hook your system up to a wireless router located in another room, you will need to purchase a Wifi extender and hook that up to your DVR with the ethernet cable. It works great. We purchased a netgear extender.

I recently purchased this product and am very happy with the ease of installation and use of the product. It took about 4 hours total to hook up everything including all 4 cameras, the DVR, the computer software, and the smart phone app. I feel that it is a cheap insurance policy for the property and equipment that I need to "Keep an eye on". The picture quality is fine for my application.

I purchased this system brand new in October of 2013. Approximately 9 months later the hard drive failed. I found this out when I needed to check the recording because of a shoplifting incident . . . which of course, was not recorded. I was told that I would have to pack it up and ship it in for warranty replacement, which I did. During this time (approximately 6 weeks) my shop went unprotected. The hard drive was replaced and shipped back. It worked fine for . . . another 9 months, after which, the "new" hard drive failed. I discovered this failure under the same circumstances as the last. Another shoplifting incident which went unrecorded. Turns out the replacement hard drive wasn't new at all. They shipped me a refurbished hard drive. By this time I was out of warranty and was told that it would cost $50 to return the hard drive for repair and that if it was beyond repair the $50 was non-refundable but could be applied to the purchase of a new hard drive. So, I shipped that one off. Of course, it was beyond repair and now they tell me that my only option is to buy a new hard drive or take my business elsewhere. The old adage applies, "fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me". I would be a fool to buy another Swann product. Therefore, I am going to take my business elsewhere, and I suggest that you do the same. This product is worthless. Oh, and "customer support"? What a JOKE. I just called the customer support number on the back of my user manual . . . this is the message I get "customer support is not available at this time, we apologize for the inconvenience". Hi-larious! (Joke's on me.)

This is my first home security system so I cannot compare to other systems, however I can say this one is very good. I purchased this one because of reviews and price ( $349.00 Cyber Monday ). As described it comes with ( 1 TB GB good for 30 days of recording ) DVR, 4 infra-red ( for nighttime vision ), mouse for DVR menu and all the wiring for connection plus various window decals alerting the public your home is being monitored which is required by law in most states ( in the event you would need to use footage in court ).DVR TV/Monitor viewing menu is easy to navigate through. Physical set up is easy with your basic knowledge of tools ( screwdriver bits, Drill, etc ) The internet set up is a bit confusing which you need ( a fast internet connection with Ethernet required for optimal viewing ) in order for you to view cameras on your smartphone but customer support guided me through the process and I was up and running in no time. I have an iphone 5 and the footage on the phone is very clear for these cameras are top notch. Day footage is crystal clear and in color. Nighttime viewing is also surprisingly clear but in black & white as the infrared is being used. Overall I am very satisfied with my purchase as I was able to clearly monitor my home in NY over my iphone as I traveled to Florida. you can set it to record all the time or just when it detects movement or you can also set up recording over your smartphone, just be careful of the settings or you will get endless emails from your cameras. I highly recommend this system.

Fairly easy to set up for someone with a good technical knowledge. The picture quality is okay, could be better. Good for a small home system.

Bought this kit after much online review reading. Out of the box it was easy to setup and get running. Spend about two days running the cables and then reconnected the system and fine-tuned the cameras. The software was easy to configure and use.
