Tales from the hood still holds up after all these years. The social commentary is as poignant as ever. And much like Candyman, which came out in the mid 90's. TFTH, is still freaking scary! Must own!

The era is the 90s. Storyline starts a creepy morgue owner has a visit from three gangsters, Their intentions are to steal drugs the owner has in his possession. Instead of going straight to robbing him, He tells them stories of the dead that are in his morgue. I have loved this movie since I was a kid I have watched it several times my rating of three stars was based on the picture quality of the movie. I own the DVD and I purchased the Blu-ray thinking that the picture quality would be Super clear or better than the DVD. I was disappointed because most of it looks like the original DVD with fuzziness glare so for the price I paid which was almost $28 I don't think it was worth it. The artwork is amazing, unless you were just a Blu-ray collector or don't have this movie already then it's good to have it if you already own the original DVD you're basically just wasting money purchasing this one.

Love this movie it's a classic. I'm so glad I rebought it on Blu Ray with extras.

This movie has a bit of horror and humor. The ending has an ironic twist. It is a true classic.

awesome 90s flick great actors great music ahead of its time

Just when I was starting to feel like this movie was being forgotten in the HD era, out comes this release thanks to the awesome Shout Factory! The movie looks better than it has ever looked, and I'm happy to add that it holds up as well as I remember, with themes and topics that range from police brutality, to child abuse, to racist politicians, to gang violence, all seen from a horror perspective. It predates Jordan Peele's Get Out, a great movie in its own right, and would make a great double feature with it. Rusty Cundieff needs to come back with another film ASAP!

A classic in its own right, Tales From the Hood ruled my childhood and became a movie that I watched time and time again. Its iteration of life in the ghetto covers many bases such as racism, brutality and much more mixed in with some devilish Tales From The Crypt-like stories, Its got just the right amount of humor in it and u wont believe how it ends. Such a classic horror movie now on Blu Ray and its got special features. This deserves a spot on any horror movie fan!!!!

This was one of my favorite horror movies the year it came out. I was already a fan of Fear of a Black Hat (which needs a blu-ray release too!), but this was the movie that convinced me Rusty Cundieff was a talent to look out for. I wish he had a bigger career in film today cause he deserves it for this film alone. If you're into Creepshow, Tales From the Darkside, etc, and you want to see horror from the African American perspective, this movie is for you. Scream Factory does it again!!!!

Great anthology horror movie with an urban twist. A must see.

If you haven't saw this,you've got to see it. This is better than 2 and 3,which I wouldn't recommend. One tale with multiple tales that add up to one tale. Everything is tied together in this twisted tale. Mild violence, creepy moments,good story telling,and a little humor. They don't make films like this anymore. Check it out.

If you morality tales with a message behind it mixed with comedy/ horror tales from the hood is the right movie for any fan. the effects are still cheese compared to today's standards but it works for the film the special features aren't to bad either addressing the making of the film and a few other things

A wonderful classic for those that love anthology horror movies. This is the oldest of the Tales from the Hood, but the stories in this still outshine the stories in 3 and especially 2. Get this one for a more subdued but more critical burn than the sequels.

Great classic horror movie very interesting one of my favorite. So happy that’s on blu ray , if your into horror I promise you will love it. Although I’m not so happy because my movie case did come a little damaged. But the dice is in great shape.

I remember going to see this the week it came out in theaters, and til this day this movie gives me the same fear it did then! If you've never seen it it's DEFINITELY worth seeing! The acting is great, and the stories are truly bone chilling!

The cast of characters alone should tell you it is going to be an A-ONE movie! Anytime you can have Clarence Williams as a mortician and a bunch of dudes looking for their drug stash, comedy will ensue!!

This horror movie is great. Its has amazing action and superb story. Great audio and video quality.

This movie is awesome. I have been waiting for it to come out on blu ray for awhile now and it finally did. If you like horror short story movies then buy it.

This is my favorite anthology of all time. It's socially relevant without being heavy handed and Scream Factory did a terrific job with this release.
