Many appreciate the ease of use and the deep black levels offered by the mini LED technology. While some users noted minor motion issues during fast-paced scenes, the overwhelmingly positive feedback points to a highly satisfying viewing experience.

Upgraded from last year's TCL 98S550G. Already accustomed to the massive size, the mini LED inclusion is a gamechanger. If you catch this on sale, absolutely worth the extra $200 Vs sale price of the lower end 98-100" displays.

What an absolutely amazing tv. I bought the 98” to fit over my fireplace and love it. I had the 98” Q6 for three weeks and sent it back. The QM7 is much better quality. If you are on the fence get the QM7.

I was so excited about the deal I got on this TV for my renovated home theater. I had a great experience with my first TCL TV and based on the reviews for this one, I had no hesitation in going with TCL 98". Install did not go well. Upon receipt of the TV it was clear that it was not going to fit into and down my stairwell (into basement) in the box. The delivery crew was not authorized to unbox it and take it down the stairs. Myself and friend meticulously and very carefully unboxed the TV and safely carried it downstairs and mounted it on the wall. Turning it on the first time and a 4 inch wide column of pixels were completely bricked (picture on the "Pair Your Remote" screen). The rest of the tv on each side of that column looked great and the TV functioned otherwise properly. After a few different calls to get the right service scheduled, Best Buy's install contractor brought out a new tv to swap with the old. This time, they were going to handle the install. They realized they couldn't get it down the stairs, so they unboxed it on the main floor. Since they were doing the install, they were authorized to unbox the tv on the main floor and take it down the stairs without the box. I requested that they test the TV on the main level before going down the stairs with it. It appeared to work flawlessly. They then proceeded to meticulously and safely carry it down the stairs and mount it. When they turned it on, nearly the identical column of pixels were damaged and the rest of screen was not operating at full capacity (picture on the "Display & Sound" screen). The install team were completely shocked, as they were certain that they carried it down completely safely. They could not explain how the TV worked on the main level, and then bricked upon moving downstairs and plugging it in. Perhaps carrying this beast at an angle downstairs with two people is not sufficient to move it. I think this TV seems awesome, but my experience is that getting into a basement may cause others problems as well. I have not seen any other reviews that suggest that. But, it happened to me for 2 of these tvs. To hopefully stop the headache, I am just going to downgrade in size to 85" to get it downstairs in the box, and follow the industry wide reviews and switch to a Sony to hopefully ensure a higher quality product overall.

This is one of the best Mini LED TVs you can buy on a budget (I got the 98 in at 2.3k). The colors are vibrant, the black levels are great, but a couple of issues hold it back from getting 5 stars. First off, the sound is hot garbage. Like almost all TVs, you absolutely need a dedicated sound system if you're going to do it justice. The remote is great thanks to the backlight, but it's missing basic media controls like play/pause. Instead, 6 questionable app shortcuts take up the bottom half. The blooming levels on the 98 in are good for the most part, but the dimming zones absolutely breakdown in the corners, causing light bleed, but most users won't notice this in regular operation. I recieved a decent panel with minimal DSE, but since this is basically a lottery with any TV you get, your milage may vary. The biggest issue though is going to be the fact that 2025 is going to bring the new QM7 and even the QM6 series which are going to blow this out of the water in terms of performance or cost respectively.

Very big and nice. Picture quality is top notch, I have some issues with the motion when it is dark but after that its crazy good. Brightness is up there with the greatest, contrast is lacking compared to Hisense but untrained eyes won’t notice it. Sound is good but you should get a soundbar. For this TV size just staying with the tv audio doesn’t make sense. Gaming is awesome, low input lag with two hdmi 120 and 144 hz separated from the e-arc port. I gave it 4 stars only because blacks are not totally black in the dark while the cheaper q6 nails it.

Have had it for a month now. I would start with the only regret I have is that it has a semi-glossy screen. If you are in a bright diffused room it would seem like the dark parts of the picture look less than black and not inky. I wish it had the screen finish of an iPhone and or my C1 or C2 OLEDS or even my old Panasonic ST60 Plasma. I prefer to watch on Movie or the DV picture modes for smoother tonality. If you prefer Vivid then it could be a different story in a bright room - because the TV gets very bright which would make the dark parts seem darker. With that said, once it gets semi-dark it begins to shine. Not OLED like, but, not at any moment this past month did I wish it were OLED. Now the size. I'm viewing it at 10-12 feet. I mostly watch 4k media and I can tell you right now from my point of view, I can view comfortably at 6-7 feet. At this distance, I could sometimes discern the pixels but only if I'm looking for it very intently. I know about the recommended viewing angles online but for me the viewing angle at 7ft is just enough to cover my full FOV without moving my head too much. Felt more like a movie theater at 7ft. So a bigger TV in the future is a possibility for me as I'm normally 10-12 feet away. Maybe with massive TVs in the future - 8K will become more mainstream the only thing stopping it is that consumers might not have the space.

    Experience in a Box

Working on finishing my basement and needed a larger TV to give it a movie theater feel. While reviewing options, the TCL 98QM751G stood out for its size, price, and quality. 98” provides a theater like feel for movies while also being front row for concerts and right in the action for games. I was worried about it being ‘too big’ but that was not the case, it compliments my room well and provides a superior picture from all angles. Best Buy made the process to review and purchase online easy, and it came with free delivery and installation. Delivery was right on time and well communicated via phone & e-mail, the install was a few days later and was a great experience. Set-up of the TV had me watching Netflix within 15 minutes of setting up, that includes TV updates and Wifi connection.

Had to wait 3 weeks for geek squad to install my T.V. once it arrived I thought I might have to get a 85in because of my sonos soundbar and system. But had them install it and wow picture looks great and sonos sound system paired together with the two is great.

Been using this giant TV for a little over a month now and I'm happy with it. Close to Sony picture quality for a fraction of the cost. It's incredible how much 98" TVs have come down in price. I use an Apple TV with receiver/sound system, so I can't comment on the "Smart TV" software or the TV sound quality, but the picture is great. If you have the space and want one - Get it before the tariffs jack up the price!

This TV will impress 80% of you. Assuming you're coming from an "older" TV, you'll enjoy the colors, brightness, black level and wow factor of this display. Deservingly so, this TV has been labeled as the best "bang for your buck" winner for 2024. However, for the 20% of us that want the best, this TV won't cut it. It is noticeably worse than the QM8 for this year. The QM8 has better brightness, colors, black levels, reflection handling, and a glossy screen. The QM7 has a semi-gloss screen and to me, it doesn't look as good. So if you can do it, go for the QM8. But for the general 80% of consumers, the QM7 will be sure to impress!
