Why are they still priced so high?
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ti-89 has had a monopoly on the calculator market for a very long time, and it shows in their lack of new developments or price decrease. if you think about the technology that is inside them as compared to todays standards of growth. Calculator ti-89 $153 12mhz processor 188kb ram 2.7mb flash ram 100x160 display ipod touch 4th gen $230 700 mhz processor 256mb ram 8gb flash? memory 960X640 display Plus the fact that the ipod touch can do 80 billion other things. Now, granted that a lot of what you are paying for in the ti-89 is the software of the calculations, but those calculations and programs really haven't changed that much in the last 15 or so years. Yet, I still have to buy a ti-89 as fear of using an ipod touch or phone to cheat. I still don't appreciate being gouged.
