During this bizarre time, I was thankful that my local Best Buy had this in stock! And, that I could pick it up that afternoon was a top 10 hit for me! I first watched this movie during this crazy time and have watched it a second time since. It is so fun that I wanted my own copy and Best Buy had it waiting. Give it a spin-in your blu-ray player, not your turntable!

    A Must Have

This classic film marked the directorial debut of Tom Hanks and has withstood the test of time just over two decades later. I highly recommend the extended version which boasts more scenes with Charlize Theron and an alternate ending that makes more sense but takes nothing away from the heart of the movie. The music is infectious and the characters are endearing. This is a must have for any film lover for sure!

    Great Movie Even Better

This has been a favorite since it first hit the theater. Wonderful (Onederful?) period piece on making it in a rock band in the early 60's. The actors are great and, as a life-long pro musician, seeing the road venues (like the county fairs) are spot-on. The Blu-ray release features a longer, director's cut version with some nice insights into the characters. Highly recommended.

That Thing You Do is probably one of my favorite Tom Hanks movies and I've watched it countless times. It's just a nice feel good movie with some great music and a nice throwback to the 60's. If you want to play a fun little game while watching the movie? Try to name all of the connections between actors/actresses and Tom Hanks. The man did NOT forget his friends and family when casting.

I've been searching for this movie in Blu ray for a while and I finally found it for a great price. This has the theatrical and the director's cut which has more scenes for those questions you might have had or missing pieces of the movie. Overall it was a great movie and good picture quality.

This is one of Tom Hanks' lesser-known movies, but it has always been one of my favorites. The film's catchy tune and the fun trip we take with The Wonders as they deal their one-hit-wonder fame just makes for great entertainment. I've seen this movie many times but I watch it again every so often and enjoy it just as much as the first time I saw it. Great!!

Great movie. One of my old VHS Films that I hadn't yet upgraded. The director's cut adds about 30 minutes, or so, to the run time. Some of those scenes are great, some I can see why they cut. Still hilarious, loved seeing Howie Long in the DC.

This movie is a comedy drama that follows a one hot wonder band in the 60s. It is funny, fun and fast paced but shows the dangers of getting fame and fortune overnight and how that can change relationships and ruin friendships. Definitely worth a watch

Saw this in the 90s when it came out and I can watch it again and again! Great cast and the title song is a real ear worm. I AM SPARTACUS! !! The blu ray extended cut is a lot longer than the original and is also an interesting watch but I'm glad they made the theatrical release shorter, cause the extended one lags a bit.

I fell in love with this movie the first time that I saw it back in the 90's! Tom Hanks proved that he is not only a great actor, but a top-notch writer and director as well. The music was so good, it would not have been out of place in the 1960's. Great cast led by Tom Everett Scott. This movie is a classic!!!

I remember seeing this movie 12 times at the dollar theatre (pretty sure my parents may have used the theatre as a daycare). To this day, this is always a movie I re-watch. It has a wonderful cast, fantastic one-liners, and an amazing soundtrack. So excited to find it in Blu-Ray!

Still a great movie even after a couple of decades. A great title song that never gets old! Watched my DVD copy recently and realized it was almost unwatchable. Glad to have the movie in HD along with the extended version as a bonus!

Although this takes place in the past, it was relevant and current in feel to having a young musician in the house. As well as being a good story, this movie is useful to parents who want to tell their aspiring star children "keep your day job."

OK Blu-Ray of Fun Film (with both cuts!)

Tom Hanks stepped into the directors chair for this one, a fun film that any fan of music films (and certainly any fans of 60's music) will enjoy. It's the classic tale of a band that becomes nothing more than a one hit wonder. The blu-ray features both the theatrical (my preferred, but your mileage may vary) and Hanks' directors cut of the film. The video isn't going to win any awards for it's presentation, and to it's credit the inherent image would be soft due to the lenses used, but it's a pretty weak transfer even if still yet, looks better than a recent playing on cable. The audio is better, with a 5.1 surround track (presented in lossless DTS-HD MA) that does a great job with sound field separation concerning music and ambience and dialogue, and really pumps up the films many montage sequences that are set to tunes. There's also some additional bonuses for fans of the film, and overall I'd say it's worth it to them - but only at the right price (which it was at the time in-store at BB with a musically related films end cap).

An even better version of a great movie, the Blu-Ray of That Thing You Do has superior sound and maintains the extras found in the deluxe edition of the DVD. If you want to hear this cult classic movie sound better than ever, grab the Blu-Ray, get some popcorn, and sing along!

Catchy story of some high school kids that just wanna have fun for the summer in the early 60's. The only serious one has talent but he's a schlub to Liv Tyler, just the sweetest thing. She deserves better. The reason they started to achieve is the drummer, Tom Hanks jr.

This is such a fun and enjoyable film to watch! The director's cut is even better than the theatrical version. Adds so much more! Looks and sounds great on blu ray. You will be singing the title song for days afterwards!! Highly recommended!!

Bought the blu-ray because i wasn't aware of the extended edition.. Loved it! Love Tom Hanks and the entire cast and all the music. Extended version is a little strange after seeing the theatrical a hundred times, but still good!

Tom Hanks is amazing-- actor and now writer and director. I liked the movie when I saw it in the theaters, but not overly impressed. It was the music I fell in love with, especially "That Thing You Do," the 1-ders one-hit single. But, when I saw the director's cut release, I decided I had to give it another try.
