Tom Hanks wrote and co-stars in this movie about a garage band who have a catchy tune which becomes a one-hit wonder and then fighting ensues and the band ends up breaking up. This blu ray features both the theatrical version and a director's cut. Nice to have both finally.

This movie has been on my favorite list since it came out. I highly recommend this movie to anyone looking for a feel-good story, looking for laughs, looking for great music, etc. You just can't go wrong here. AND, the extended version is FANTASTIC!

That Thing You Do! has been one of my favorite movies since I first saw it in theaters. My friends and I came away singing the songs, and quote the film still to this day. I'm so excited it was finally released on Blu-ray.

Good explanation of the music recording business in the 60-70's. Exterior shots reminiscent of Erie, PA, at that time. Film crew spent at least a day or so in Erie.

The song "That Thing You Do!" is likely to become lodged in your brain along with a slew of other very catchy tunes sung by the Wonders and other "faux" music acts featured in this Tom Hanks-helmed period comedy. The film is fairly light with no sense of danger, making it light and easy fare to take in during almost any mood. It is infinitely rewatchable. I could even watch it more than once in a week. Hanks gave Charlize Theron and most of the male actors their first big acting gigs. The Blu-ray includes the Directors Cut which adds a whopping 39 minutes to the total run-time of the film! None of the added footage really makes the film seem to end any less abruptly -- it seems like we're just getting started with the success of the Wonders and then the film is over -- but it does add a lot of character development and some fun scenes that definitely should have been left in the theatrical cut.
