Have you never seen The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the Eighth Dimension?! Don't feel bad, most people haven't. Imagine the most reference-heavy Marvel movie ever, where almost every line mentions a character or event from a large pool of previous movies and TV shows... except none of those movies or shows actually exists, and that's the joke - that's basically what Buckaroo Banzai is, a single, stand alone movie that is pretending to be like the 5th or 13th movie in a franchise of 47 or something. This is all done completely straight-faced and deadpan by a fantastic cast of character actors of variable recognizability. It can be extremely funny, if you're open to it, but it's not for everyone (or even most people)

Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai is an offbeat cult Sci-Fi. Full of wry and quirky one-liners. Colorful heroes and alt-dimension fiends. A clever head-scratching plot. Nefarious aliens clash with friendly aliens, rock band and rocket scientists. It features mashed up space ships and gadgets. And the film looks pristine on this remastered blu ray from Shout Select. The extras are great. New extensive interviews with the cast regale how much they enjoyed working together. And how the studio and the main producer failed to promote the movie properly. Couple fun commentaries by the director, staff, and pro fans are also included. A must buy for fans.

I was one of the few people who saw this film as a member of a preview audience. I remember it being fun but not spectacular with the only lasting takeaway was the giveaway headband I still have. When I saw this in the store, I had to pick it up so I could watch it again. It was as I remembered from that long ago preview ... what i didn't remember was how many actors who are well known now were in it. John Lithgow is great as the main bad guy with Christopher Lloyd as his top henchman. The special effects are tame and dated by today's standards.

The only reason for this purchase is that my spouse wanted this movie with a steel case. I hate this movie, but it was mentioned in Ready Player One, so I thought it might be interesting, but it is not at all. That is my biased opinion.

I was a kid when I saw this film at the theaters. Loved it then but due to time, kinda forgot about it. Besides, when I talked about Buckaroo later in life, no one knew what I was talking about. I was stoked when it came out in steelbook! No brainer, I had to own it. Watching it as an adult-it def holds up. It’s campy and a B+ flick, but that’s what makes this movie awesome!!

If you're a fan of the film, this blu ray package is jam packed with extras and behind the scenes documentaries to tell you pretty much everything about how this amazing movie got made. If you're new to the world of Buckaroo Banzai, I'd highly recommend this movie to anyone with an open mind and two hours of free time they want to fill with something wholly unique and captivating.

This movie is a little hard to explain-- it's not really about the plot, but more about how it is told. It is kind of a sci-fi/comic book/action/comedy. Buckaroo Banzai is a hard rocking astrophysicist and adventurer who gets involved in a strange plot involving a mad scientist and two warring alien races. The movie is tongue-in-cheek clever with lots of great lines and odd sight gags. Just watch it, with an open mind.

Here we have another cult classic turned into a great Blu-ray release. Fans of Buckaroo Banzai won't be disappointed with this release. Great transfer and decent pack of extras. Highly recommended for the 2 hour documentary that goes deeply into the movie. And I mean deep into the creation, the production process and even its reception. Another solid buy.

Beyond odd, beyond off kilter, this genre mash-up of a small part of the life of the great Buckaroo Banzai is one of the greatest docudrama's the I have ever seen A truly epic adventure on a separate plane of existence. The bonus materials are wonderful, especially the joy that the cast and crew seemed to have working together.

Finally Buckaroo Banzai comes to blu-ray for the U.S. It looks and sounds great for a movie of its age and is definitely an improvement over the DVD. There's some all-new special features as well as the old ones on the DVD. If you've ever liked this movie, this is the version you need.

What can I say other then this is one of those movies that just needs to be in your collection. Wild, strange, and kind of neat film. This bluray release is done right, and the SB is awesome, though it came with 2 small dents...I can get over that more or less.

I usually like campy old sci fi movies, but I really did not enjoy.

With a quirky ensemble cast, a virtual who's who of 80's actors & actresses, cheesy stop motion and practical special effects and a pick-up truck that can penetrate solid rock, how can you go wrong? Peter Weller and John Lithgow, priceless!

I actually saw this in 1984 and it has been my favorite Peter Weller movie ever since...Robocop is a 2nd. if you want a quirky sci-fi action movie..this is for you...also look for the Watermelon in the movie...it is a BB fan running joke.
