I've been a Hitchcock fan for ages, and celebrate his entire catalog. I own the DVD set, which matches this but includes North by Northwest, which is sadly missing from the 4K title.
So far, I'm extremely pleased with the quality of the 4K transfers, particularly with Vertigo, which looks absolutely stunning. Psycho is also a notable improvement over the copy I owned previously. I haven't checked out the Birds yet, as it's not a favorite. It's likely I may never watch that one, and I'd gladly exchange it for a 4K transfer of North by Northwest, or other Hitchcock favorites of mine.
With that said, there's one glaring issue. The packaging is absolutely terrible. It's a book style release, with the discs shoved into cardboard sleeves. It's nearly impossible to remove the discs without risking fingerprints or scratches. This doesn't make it a non-purchase, but I'll likely take the discs and put them into safer packaging.

REAR WINDOW (1954)
The story of a recuperating news photographer who believes he has witnessed a murder. Confined to a wheelchair after an accident, he spends his time watching the occupants of neighbouring apartments through a telephoto lens and binoculars and becomes convinced that a murder has taken place.
VERTIGO (1958)
An ex-police officer who suffers from an intense fear of heights is hired to prevent an old friend's wife from committing suicide, but all is not as it seems.
PSYCHO (1960)
Phoenix secretary Marion Crane (Janet Leigh), on the lam after stealing $40,000 from her employer in order to run away with her boyfriend, Sam Loomis (John Gavin), is overcome by exhaustion during a heavy rainstorm. Traveling on the back roads to avoid the police, she stops for the night at the ramshackle Bates Motel and meets the polite but highly strung proprietor Norman Bates (Anthony Perkins), a young man with an interest in taxidermy and a difficult relationship with his mother.
THE BIRDS (1963)
Melanie Daniels (Tippi Hedren) meets Mitch Brenner (Rod Taylor) in a San Francisco pet store and decides to follow him home. She brings with her the gift of two love birds and they strike up a romance. One day birds start attacking children at Mitch's sisters party. A huge assault starts on the town by attacking birds.

I have read some reviews and i agree with them. I have only watched one of them. Vertigo. My girlfriend and i were floored at the quality of these videos. I mean vertigo is 1958. And its i noticed a lot of movies used this same plot. But boy did they take me around san fran in 1958. Kim Novak is one of the most beautiful women ive ever seen on film. Im no Alfred Hitchcock fan. But just off vertigo this was well worth it. Even the extra commentary on the movie is breathtaking. We looked up everyone who was talking about the movie they died many years ago. Im a no fan of 50s or 60s cenima. But the people must have taken years to restore this film let alone 4k. Its breath takimg. Novak is still alive i would love to interview her about that movie. Ill have to watch the rest. But if you are movie collector like me and looking to get the most out your 4k player and dolby vision tv. This is definitely. 1958 unbelievable it could look like that

While it’s questionable to assert the four films included here represent the ideal choices for a 4K upgrade, since the technical limitations of the source material cannot make sound and picture quality pristine by modern standards (especially with regard to The Birds), nevertheless none of the films has ever looked or sounded better. It presents Psycho with some additional footage that was initially trimmed, and supposedly there is a replacement plan for that disc when initial pressings inadvertently failed to include the original mono sound mix, which sticklers for authenticity will likely prefer. The repurposed surround mix, while rather subtle, sounds fine regardless. Vertigo especially benefits from this newer scan. All in all, a must have set, with hopes for additional Hitchcock remasterings to come.

Although I'm sure much more Hitchcock will be coming to 4K, this set should keep fans busy and happy until that day. For me Vertigo and Psycho are the standouts of the set and both look glorious and better than I've ever seen before. Vertigo literally jumps off the screen and doesn't look or feel like a movie shot over 60 years ago. Amazing! I admit I'm not the biggest Hitchcock fan in the world but I didn't hesitate for a second to pick up this set which will certainly have replay value over the years. I think Universal chose the right four films for this set and it should be in the collection of every film lover from newbies just starting to view movies from this era or those who have loved these classics for decades.

I am a huge Alfred Hitchcock fan and love his movies. Having seen these films numerous times I can say Psycho, Vertigo, and Rear Window are the best they have ever looked. I can’t judge The Birds yet because I have not watched this version yet, I expect it, like the rest to be excellent. The real question is....is it worth purchasing if you already own these movies in Blu ray, as I do. As I said I’m a huge Hitchcock fan and I have to say for me.... it is worth the improvement in visuals. It’s not night and day... and I think the Blu rays are fine. I think these are all classic Hitchcock films, and now I want MORE of Hitchcock in 4K!!

These are four exceptional movies—if I were just rating them alone, I would give the collection five stars. However, my review is of the quality of the 4K and packaging. One thing to keep in mind—these are simply transferred to 4K format—not remastered, so the 4K seems to get lost on these. I didn’t see a great deal of improvement from the Blu-ray versions, and of course they can’t compete with today’s movies in color, sharpness, or just about any other measure of visuals. The jewel of the set is Psycho, which interestingly was made after two of the color movies in this collection. Thinking this would be a bomb, the movie company didn’t want to invest a lot of money in what would ironically become Hitchcock’s highest grossing movie, so it was shot in black and white. Hitchcock also felt that if it were in color, the amount of blood in the movie would be too scary (or more likely, too hard to get past censors). This collection includes the version originally released in theaters—which has a few more seconds of blink-or-you’ll-miss it footage. One thing I noticed is that there’s a lot of background static (looks like the pixels are moving around) on solid-colored walls. The weakest movie of the collection is Rear Window. There is little chemistry between Jimmy Stewart and Grace Kelly (probably because he’s old enough to be her father), and the movie plods along during the first two-thirds. Vertigo is a lot of fun, as is The Birds, which has some creepy moments. I can’t say any of these movies are significantly better being presented in 4K. The packaging is interesting, presented in a book format with cardboard holders for each version of the movies (Blu-ray discs are included for each movie). The cardboard’s very stiff, so hoping it won’t scratch the movie when being pulled out and inserted.

4 of Hitch's most famous works presented in brilliant 4k restorations. The films have been critiqued endlessly so I won't speak to those qualities.
As to the films, they have never looked better.
Psycho Uncut - not seen in a long time.
The Birds - building an extreme amount of tension.
Rear Window - Grace Kelly has never looked more luminous.
Vertigo - a spectacular looking masterpiece.
Purchase this set, if you love great films directed by a mastermind behind the camera.
A must have.

Great collection and nice upgrade from anyone owning the blu-ray editions. To me, "Vertigo" was the best reason to upgrade. While all of the movies were better quality, the benefits were more apparent with "Vertigo". "Rear Window" looked good, but didn't seem to be a substantial upgrade from Blu-ray, "The Birds" and "Psycho" both looked good, but didn't benefit from the extra resolution and HDR nearly as much as "Vertigo" did. Still, this is a great edition to anyones library who is upgrading to Ultra High Def 4K.

You'd think that these films were filmed in 2000's rather than 1950-1960.They look great .I did have an issue with REAR WINDOW. It did freeze up .I didn't try it a second time. All other titles played fine .THE BIRDS will make you really nervous as it did me. This was always a movie that affected me the day after seeing it . The wires were filled with birds ,boy did I run, all the way to school . I'm sure PSYCHO will make you nervous ,even knowing the outcome.

This features 4 of Hitch's big 5 films - that is, the 5 films he made inc succession at the height of both creative powers AND his popularity. The films all look fantastic, though that's taking into account things like the heavy use of optical effects on THE BIRDS. The biggest winner is VERTIGO, which was shot in VISTAVISION (a format that basically turned 35mm film sideways so that when exposed it would take up the size of a 70mm frame) and it just look perfect.

This is a very good movie collection of classics bundled into one package. The image and sound are both clear. You get a lot of special features included like deleted scenes or an insight into Hitchcock’s mind when making these movies. What’s also special about “Psycho” in this bundle is that it includes a special uncut version not seen on any previous dvd or blu-ray releases. It’s a highly must watch for any fan to experience it the way the director wanted you to see it.

4 Classic Movies and are must owns in 4K for fans. Birds is probably the worst of the transfers and makes the effects look quite silly, but is still a fun ride. Vertigo and Psycho are the stars of the show and look fantastic. Don't sleep on Rear Window as it looks quite nice as well. If you haven't seen these movies, do yourself and grab a nice collection of must see films!

The Alfred Hitchcock Collection comes to 4K with four excellent restorations. The movies are presented are in a far superior quality than their previous releases. The HDR color grading introduces a far wider spectrum of colors and luminance, especially with “Vertigo.” Another benefit to this collection is the release of the uncut version of Psycho, which has only been seen a few international releases of the movie. Overall, highly recommended.

I am so happy I picked this up. Big Hitchcock fan. All the titles look gorgeous in 4K. Had a big surprise with the different cut of PSYCHO. Didn’t know it was in the set, and never saw it before, so that was cool. Well worth the price.
Also, Vertigo is my favorite film and I don’t think it is available in 4K separately.

The Alfred Hitchcock Classics Collection on 4K Blu-ray is a revelation! I have enjoyed all these films my whole life, but I have never seen them with such incredible clarity and vivid color. In the case of Psycho, not only is the black & white image crisp, but the deep shadows are even more eerie than ever. The best of Hitchcock's American period in the best condition we may ever see. A must for all film lovers!

I’ve noticed lately that Best Buy and the film industry have been releasing quite a few film classics on 4K SteelBook. More remarkable than a 4K transfer on a film not filmed in 4K is the fact that Best Buy has made SteelBook copies available for each of these films but not many others. I wish whomever is in charge would provide a SteelBook option for every film released on 4K so I can add each to my film library.

As soon as I saw thais was being released I knew I had to have it; I LOVE old classics lovingly restored on 4k and these are no exception; Vertigo has been voted best film ever made and it is ravishing here! My pre-order arrived a day early, and well packaged. The price is very fair when you consider you get 4 great Hitchcock films on beautiful 4k; a document to the history of film. Buy without hesitation!
