If you have watched The Americans over the years you know how good a show it was. This season just won the Golden Globe for best show of the year. I originally hoped it would go one more season, but we knew since it was based on the 80’s Cold War it was getting close to the end. With Better call Saul getting snubbed by the Globes I truly thought Mathew Rhys was a shoe in for best actor. (Bob Odenkirk should have won). Without giving anything away he struggled with being a spy desperate to get out and this season starts with a resolution, but not without constant struggles. The way the series ended was extremely satisfying. It was strange routing for a Russian couple spying on Americans all these years (maybe except for Trump?) but the way the entire thing comes to a conclusion in this finale season will certainly satisfy devoted fans to the show. If you haven’t seen The Americans do yourself a favor and pick up season one on Blu-ray. Unfortunately it was the only season realeased on Blu-ray, the rest including this final season are dvd only. We knew it was coming, but sorry to see this one go, but it goes out with a fantastic final season!

Never a dull season with The Americans and this season was really done well and kept me on the edge of my seat with some great storytelling. I really like the historical aspect and the parts in the old Soviet Union on how it was over there.

Drama, Action and great acting. Story lines that blended love of country and family and the struggle to balance them when all is not as it seems.

I love this show and have been watching since it started. I think it is the best show on TV of its era, there is nothing else like it. The story, premise, themes and feelings are really innovative and unique compared to most television shows. Parts of it are Shakespearean while being suspenseful. With that said I have been kind of disappointed with Season 5 for the first few episodes because there seems to be not as much kinetic energy as the other seasons. Then I remember that this show never disappoints and this season is trying something new. All the best shows try something new every season and this season is a slow burner in every best way. Its a ticking bomb and everything is set up to explode and unravel by the end of it, leading us directly into a mayhem packed sixth and final season. With the extended cuts and internal conflicts only visible in the eyes, this season is slowing the show down, giving room for me to breath while embracing the remaining characters and their emotions before we witness their fate. I would recommend seeing this season after it all comes out so you can binge, the weekly watching of this "build-up season" makes you really want to see more as soon as possible. Get ready for the roller-coaster drop and an end of an era.

I watched this show as it aired for its entire run. It’s a great thriller and interesting look into the life of spies.

THIS FINALE DESERVED TO BE A WINNER. FINALLY THE SERIES GOT RECOGNITION.

An excellent series of espionage, intrigue and adventure!

This Russian-spies-embedded-in-USA series just gets better as the years roll on. Even though they're the enemy, you can't help rooting for them (just a little bit). The acting is top notch (from leads to supporting), and the sense of 1980's USA culture is still engrossing. I created my own spoiler by reading about the series finale, but I'm still looking forward to watching how this family deals with the fall of the Soviet Union, and the impact it has on their lives.

While many critics and fans of the show called the fifth (and penultimate) season of The Americans "slow," it is a drama you have to appreciate in a long-term kind of way. The Americans (if you don't know) is the story of two married KGB agents who are living in America as Americans in the 1980s and trying to raise their kids (most likely into the "family business") as well as do dirty jobs for the Soviets. It's also a look at how the stress of being spies a hair's breadth from Washington DC can cause long-term mental issues in even the most dedicated covert operatives. Binging this show on DVD is the best way to immerse yourself in the slower pace of this show--which doesn't rely on lots of showy action set-pieces or one-episode storylines.

Sadly this is the next to last season of the very best drama cable series on tv. The plot twists, intelligent writing, and brilliant acting by the principal husband and wife characters and the amazing guest stars on the show have very few consistent rivals on any cable show. This show should be required watching for aspiring writers and actors. This is how you create intelligent and intriguing television.

I was catching up on some missed episodes and this brilliant series never failed to excite my intellect as well as my emotions. The writing is first class and the acting by all main and supporting actors is consistently the best. I’ll be very sorry to see this best of the best cable shows end at the end of the current season.

The series continues with more action and intrigue. If you have watched the previous seasons you will not be disappointed with this one. The conflict between family life and the life of a family of spies keeps getting more and more complex.

Keri Russell kicks butt and looks good doing it. This is a fun series if you are a fan of the 1980's. Lots of intrigue and action. Why are you still reading this? Get to Best Buy and pick this up today. You know you want it.

Another great season. I like to watch them over again that is why I bought the whole series. I have been following this show for years now, and I love it.

This season builds on the previous 4. The acting is great, the way they change their identities is amazing. A definite good buy and great entertainment.

Captivating series. Exceptional cast , Superb acting . Satisfying to see periods of remembered history so well depicted from a Soviet point of view.

Season 5 of The Americans was a little bit of a let down. Now that the Sixth and Final Season is nearing its end, I realize now that Season 5 was the calm before the storm. This has consistently been one of the best shows on TV (along with Bosch) and I will really miss it when it is gone in two weeks.
