The way that the movie depicted "DEATH" as a character to view all of the individuals that we are introduced to as the "Book Thief" starts her journey to her new home with her adopted family. It brings to life the courage and heart needed to endure such tough and destructive surroundings. Love always endures to the end; it is what makes life to livable and worth the hard times.

Thought I had seen all there was to see as far as german atrocities committed during world war two. This movie brought a new picture never presented before and a fresh story both sad and joyous.I am not sure if it is a true story but it has the feel of one. Watched it again last night and enjoyed it even more than the first time.

I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this movie. It didn't appear to me as being as good as it was. It was a great story, some violence but it showed what was going on to the Jews during WW2 in Germany. It is good to see a story about a family that risked a lot to save a persons life. We watched it with our teenage kids. Great movie!

I got this in a great Deal of the Day price and didn't hesitate as it included digital. I've gotten Apple TV and am able to watch whenever I want after downloading the digital. It is great not to have to fool with a DVD and player all the time at my house. I love the movie, as I am an avid reader, a retired teacher, and a grandmother. Reading is very important to me so I related to this movie.

I purchased THE BOOK THIEF for my 17 year old daughter because she loved the book and also enjoyed the movie when we saw it together. It is an engaging story of a teen girl during WW ll and her friend who is being hidden from the Germans in her basement. Together they share in an adventure of reading and learning lessons about life, love, family and friendship. It's worth a viewing! I got a great deal at Best Buy, as always.

This movie was totally worth watching! Even my kids learned a lot from it with a bit of help from me. Great way to help introduce history of WWII while making it interesting and eye catching for the kids to watch.

the Book Thief is a very personal story of the rise of Hitler through the experience of a young girl who has lost her family. Warm, touching, authentic and compelling, the movie is a window into the influence literature can have in enlightening young people. It's a movie about integrity and how it looks in the world.

I bought this movie not really knowing if I like it or not. After I seen the movie I had to watch it twice! Then I told my husband to watch it and he liked it also. I would recommend it to everyone for a good family movie. It was well done in good taste about the war and how the people were left behind.

This is a very well acted and written movie. Also, it is a very touching movie. The narrator is the young girl that goes on to become a writer, so the story line follows that of a novel more than a movie. (which I like) I also believe that the movie has historical value as it is set during the holocaust of WW2.

Bought this movie for our daughter who is reading the book for school-I don't promote "just watching the movie", but she watched it before reading the book to help her understand the storyline. The book is narrated by "death", and it was hard for her to follow-watching the movie really helped!

Every part of this movie is captivating and riveting. The story of this young girl is one that many people encountered during Hitler's reign. I love her connection to her "papa" and how they interact with "mama". There are so many aspects to this movie that really pull at your heartstrings. This is a definite MUST see.

The movie was enjoyable and had some accurate portrayals not often included in movies, such as the programs for children. It also portrayed some of the tension within a family trying to do the right thing. I thought it dragged on a bit slowly, though, and never did build up the level of tension and fear which some WWII movies do. Better for children than many more violent war movies.

I couldn’t find this blu ray anywhere and I was so happy when I found it. The Book Thief is a good movie, despite its low score on Rotten Tomatoes. It is very releastic all with the help of a great cast. It will also send you on a rollercoaster of emotions so be prepared.

I missed this movie when it was in theatres and unfortunately always seemed to miss it when it was on TV, so when I saw it in store at a reasonable price I bought it. The story is great and there are some very strong performances, especially from the title character. It's definitely a movie to concentrate on, don't just have it on in the background otherwise you might miss bits.

The book thief is a film that encourages people to steal, which is why I recommend you follow in the protagonists footsteps and walk out of Best Buy with this DVD tucked under your shirt. I'm kidding. I haven't seen this movie. I'm sure it's fine. It was a gift (and I didn't steal it).

My first film in quite some time where I seriously felt that I was in a small town in Germany during WWII. A simple true story telling a somewhat sad but hopeful tale of a girl who is coming of age learning how to read by her adoptive German parents. Recommend it to young and old.

I love this movie...I buy this for gifts when ever I meet someone who loves good movies...this has a excellent story line, the acting is the best. This is my go to movie for when I just want to forget about things and enjoy. Even my husband likes it. If you want a good movie this is it!

A young girl loves to read books. When enemy soldiers began confiscating books and burning them, our young bookworm encounters an important man who has his personal library full of books. She secretly sneaks in and takes home some books to read before she is caught by the owner. It's a must see movie and I enjoyed watching it very much.

It is good to watch stories placed in our past so we never forget the horrors we are capable of creating. A look at a bad time in our history and how it effects people that are stuck living through it. It reminds us that we all have our place and time and must learn about others who don't have it as good. You must make what you can out of what you were handed.

This film has a very interesting story teller. It also serves as a glimpse into history at a time when the world was changing. This is a great film for young adults in that its main character is a young adult trying to understand the world around her. It is a wonderful film for all.
