I remember when this movie hit the theaters way back when. It was ok ,kind of over the top movie ,not as good as Independence Day, but good enough. This was early in the blu-ray disc days, so the video is on the soft side because people were into the video game look, so detail that you normally get from a movie shot on film was stripped away by a process known as DNR or digital noise reduction,which strips the film grain away and you lose detail in faces etc. Since then studios have done away with that process. Still a fun movie.

A young Jake Gyllenhaal plays the son of a controversial (of course) climatologist played by Dennis Quaid. Jack Hall (Quaid) believes a new Ice Age is coming, QUICKLY! He, of course, has trouble getting the government to believe him. Meanwhile, his son is on a school trip to New York City, with the ice storm bearing down on them. The special effects created in 2004 still hold up in 2014. A thought provoking scene involves the United States citizens fleeing from the ice storm.

... OR... a great movie for a sweltering summer's evening. I like Dennis Quaid movies... I also like natural (or man made) disaster movies. This movie delivers. I look for pure visual and sonic entertainment in movies I purchase. I usually only purchase a movie if I know I will watch it 5x or more. Well I've watched this movie many more times than that... but this was the first time I watched it in BluRay. Quite wonderful. We hunkered down on one of the recent frigid evenings, popped this new purchase in... popped the popcorn... and enjoyed. Great fun and nice sonic effects.

I liked the movie, great picture and sound from a 2004 film, and it was a great price. Only wish they carried blu rays in the store again as Best Buy stopped selling Blu rays in the store recently without much fanfare from the public or the news. I guess people are going digital now,

Yes a big Dennis Quaid fan, from The Long Riders, Frequency, The Day After Tomorrow, even to his supporting role in Midway as Bull Halsey. With that being said, an entertaining, special effects movie with underlying political and moral tones about global warming on what comes next if abrupt climate change scenario unfolds. From the makes of Independence Day.

i call them exagerrated posibilities. first off, its cheap. i got it on the sale items rack. second, the movie is futuristic and realistic . its not like those magical movies that things come out of nothing. there are scenes that are impossible. that in real life, they would've been dead but because they're the lead actors , of course, they survive. but then again, we all expect that already. i

There are a lot of movies out that take place in a not so distant future that earth gets hit with some kind of geological or weather anomaly. This movie takes a different spin on it and and the world pretty much freezes over. It keeps you guessing until the end. And the brilliant acting keeps you engaged. I have lived this movie since the first time I saw it on cable, and decided I had to finally buy it. I can't wait until my kids are a little older and I'm sure they will enjoy it also.

Great cast, great plot, great digital effects. What more can you ask for in a movie. I remember watching this film when it first came out in theaters and now it has been released in Blu-ray format. Also it doesn’t show on the picture above but it also comes with a limited edition slip cover which is pretty rad considering both Emmy(shameless), Dennis & Jake(Donnie Darko)are on the cover. Great actors! Must own! Plus it comes with a fit so copy.

Roland Emmerich has been known since Independence Day and Stargate for making fun B-movie sci-fi films. His great The Patriot, in opinion, is his best movie to date. The Day After Tomorrow would have to be his final quality film. Even though it's ending slightly betrays it's wonderful setup going out on a whimper it still has great special effects that hold up well. A fun watch and worth the price of $5.99.

My wife loves this movie. Why? I have no idea, but she loved the Blu-ray version as much as the regular dvd.

I truly love this movie, it is one of my favorites It has a good blend of action, suspense, and comedy that is hard to find in allot of movies that are produced today. I especially like the excellent special effects and what if scenarios this movie brings to the table. The cast is excellently selected and the characters well imagined and portrayed by the cast. I highly recommend this movie to any audience.

A fun. albeit silly movie. Check your intelligence at the door and enjoy the ride. All of Roland Emmerich's movies are pretty dumb, but they're a lot of fun and that's how he wants them to be. He knows he's making goofy "popcorn" movies & he likes to blow stuff up & have fun. He doesn't take himself or his movies too seriously, like the incredibly overrated Michael Bay does with his ridiculous movies.

Really environmentally preachy movie that my wife loves for some reason. Maybe its Dennis Quaid...

As someone who isn't a huge fan of disaster movies, I was a little skeptical about this one. However, after just a few minutes, this movie captured my attention and kept me interested. It incorporates a great combination of suspense, thrill, and wonder. Overall, this is a well rounded movie that is intense, but still family friendly and definitely worth owning. I highly recommend this one.

"The Day After Tomorrow" makes for enjoyable viewership to those with a passion and love of special effects. You forget about the plot and character development when you see the instruments of a helicopter freeze while airborne or when the eye of the storm bares down on a location. If you have a lazy weekend or are stuck inside due to weather conditions, then insert the movie and enjoy the show.
