I really enjoyed the performances in this film. The characters and plot were riveting.

I am a huge fan of Kate Winslet, who I feel is among the best actresses in the world. She shows why I feel that way in this intriguing and absorbing story about a woman who returns to her hometown after a long absence and in unique ways tries to right a series of wrongs done to her as a child. With generous portions of humor, this is a fine movie which fell through the cracks when released to theaters.

This was a weird one. It's not your typical narrative arc in the way it tells its story but it's entertaining and Kate Winslet delivers another juicy performance. It follows a woman whom feels the need to return to a place that has given her nothing but despair. She returns and fashionably cleans up the town while looking for answers to figure out if she is a murderer. Watch it because it's different and good not because it seems ok.

When bad things happen to good people in a movie and the movie also has a large comic element, the movie gets called a "dark comedy." The Dressmaker is a mixture of the comic and the tragic, but it's not a dark comedy. It alternates between the very funny and the very sad, without any attempt to reconcile the two, just like real life. Kate Winslet and Hugo Weaving are great in their roles, as are the rest of the cast.

Quirky, humorous and sometimes very dark movie about seamstress who was mistreated as child in the Australian outback and returns to exact her revenge in a very oblique way. Judy Davis is quite hysterical as her mother and the cast is excellent. There are some very dark elements along with some equally over the top episodes.

I AM A HUGE FAN OF KATE WINSLET SO I REALLY ENJOYED THIS FILM. IT TAKES PLACE IN THE 1950'S IN A SMALL TOWN IN AUSTRALIA AND FEATURES AN ECCENTRIC CAST OF GREAT AUSTRALIAN ACTORS. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

the dress maker follows the story of a mature and very accomplished seamstress, when she returns to the land of her youth. Full of fashion, laughs, and resolutions of life experiences, for the main character as well as her home town, fully enjoyable, straight up movie bliss. watch it you'll see.

I missed this in the theatres. I don't know why it did not have a longer run. Yes, a revenge movie, but entertaining. If not your kind, at least the performances should do it. Judy Davis and Kate Winslet were excellent performers.

Comedy/drama. Excellent cast. Starting with Kate Winslet, Judy Davis(barely recognized her), Hugo Weaving and Liam Hemsworth. Set in a small town in Australia. Kate goes home for some unfinished business winds up adding “fuel to the fire”

This is a very quirky movie, but drew me in from the start! The characters drawn up from the story, and portrayed in the film, are all noteworthy. This movie will keep your attention through to the end!

Set in 1950s Australia, this story about a resilient, emancipated and almost cursed young lady is involving and we'll made. A superb photography throughout helps this otherwise just OK movie shine

Can´t really ever go wrong with a Kate Winslet flick, and this is not the exception. great movie, great story and great cast. had a really great time watching this movie and of course, best buy always has a wonderful selecton!

THIS SEEMS TO BE ONE OF THOSE USUAL LOVE STORY’S, BUT THIS ONE IS NOT WHAT YOU’RE EXPECTING. THINGS SEEM TO MAKE AN UNUSUAL TURN AND MAKE THIS MORE REWARDING IN THE END. KATE WINSLET DOES AN OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE.

It seems all of the movies Kate is in really catches my interest. It's a feisty human interest type movie which is a nice change from all the shoot 'em up, vampire or zombie movies. Great acting & story!

A really cute & fun movie. I'd never heard about it before but saw it as a preview on something else I watched. I like Kate Winslet as an actress and if you're a fan of hers, you should get this!!

Great story...Awesome actors..... Thoroughly enjoyed this film. The only thing better than a Kate Winslet performance is Judy Davis right along side her. Wonderful performances ladies!!!!

I'm so glad Best Buy carries some the films that didn't make to the Theater. the DressMaker was a film I had never Heard of so when I did purchase it what a surprise of a sleeper film it was.

I took a chance on this movie, since I had never heard of it and I am So glad I did. "The Dressmaker" is a great movie. I enjoyed the plot and the cast of characters are wonderful!

We had already rented this movie and found it very interesting. When I saw the bluray for $9.99 and the DVD for $14.99 I jumped on it. A used bluray at Ed Mckay's was $14.95.

I was expecting a more comical plot. All the funny parts were in the previews. It had a very good story line. A drama with some light moments.
