The 4K re-release of The Evil Dead (and the Evil Dead 2 for that matter) looks great. But it's a little bit disappointing that the aspect ratio is stuck in 4:3. I understand it's from the original master, but having the option to switch to the 16:9 version would've been nice. Probably fine sticking with the standard Blu-ray release.

Evil dead is amazing only issue with the blu ray is it's not in widescreen.

The original version and will stand as a classic low budget piece with a following.

This film is right up there with The Exorcist, The Shining, Phantasm, etc. It's one of the true horror films in that it really tries to scare you and it succeeds. I didnt see this film until I was seventeen. My local video store had the new release, at that time, of Evil Dead 2. I rented both not knowing what I was in for. Did a marathon and after both were over have been a huge fan ever since. On to the 4K, this film looks better than it ever has. The sound is not bombastic but you will look over your shoulder as the atmospheric sound effects are creepy as. Great 4K release.

Shot on a 350,000 budget with a 16mm camera Evil Dead is one of the Best horror cult classics ever! The film stars horror icon Bruce Campbell and Ash Willams a regular guy who heads to a remote cabin with some friends and girlfriend they soon discover the necronomican book of the dead and learning that a professor had come to the cabin to study the book. But when Ash and his friends find the professors tape recorder and play his memoirs all evil breaks loose as they unleash an outbreak of demonic terror which soon possess his friends and girl leaving Ash to fight off all the evil and banish the cruse.

I saw this Evil Dead before watching the remake, and I must say I like this one more. The remake is still good, but I think the demons in this one are creepier. The demons in this one act more like psychos then demons, with their messed up makeup and their dialogue. This movie is one of the best horror films ever and is pretty freaky. This is what a true horror film is, no cheap scares no unneeded nudity, just pure creepy. This is a must buy for any horror movie fan out there.

The one that started it all for horror fans (Now looks a whole heck of a lot nicer than before) is in 4K. Most people remember everything from Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness since that's when a lot of the dark comedy aspects were adopted into the formula but I love this one a bunch. Nowhere to go for anyone and one of the few times in a horror flick where I'm not actually rooting for the bad guy to kill every single person off, well save for Bruce Cambell that is.

I am a huge fan of the Evil Dead films and of Bruce Campbell, so I was thrilled to have the opportunity to finally add this to my Blu-ray collection. The special effects here are just amazing and so far ahead of their time. Campbell rocks as Ash and was the perfect choice to make this all the more enjoyable. Blu-ray presentation made this worth the double dip for me. Stay away from the remake though...yuck!! However, do check out the new series if you can...Ash vs. the Evil Dead. Great fun!

First off, if you haven't seen the original Evil Dead then you have to stop what you're doing and go watch it. The movie was made on such a limited budget, but the cheesy and "cheap" look is one of the things that makes this movie so good. The other (and main) reason why this movie is so good is because Bruce Campbell is in it! I'm also a fan of steel cases and this one does not disappoint. It has a smooth and brushed finish and is a great addition to any horror movie collection.

I have seen The Evil Dead before when it first came out, but I can tell you, it was a totally different experience watching it in this Blu-ray format. Getting this in the tin made it collectible worthy in my DVD collection. If you like horror, you will love this movie, especially in Blu-ray. There are creepy aspects, gross aspects, and those "what are you doing" aspects. By the 3rd time viewing this movie, you might even get a laugh.

And has the right aspect ratio that it was filmed it. There are bars of the sides of your screen while watching this, like Wizard of Oz. It was filmed in 16 millimeter and if you're not watching this version, and are watching it in widescreen, the top and bottom have been cut off and you're missing out on a lot of what they intended to be on the screen. Its Evil Dead. Bruce Campbell. Must own.
