The Front Page is a a grand mixture of newspaper madness, a plot that is pure entertainment, with a screenplay that tickles the funny bone throughout. An adaptation of the award winning Broadway play by Ben Hecht, starring Adolphe Menjou and Pat O'Brien as a relentless newspaper editor and his talented reporter who wants only to leave the business and marry his sweetheart. Centering around the antics of a man waiting to be hanged for a crime, a crooked mayor, bumbling police chief, a streetwalker with a big heart and a madcap group of reporters who sit around playing cards waiting for news to happen. This film is a brash comedy of errors, remastered and housed in the Library of Congress as one of Hollywood's historic motion picture comedy masterpieces.
