had a great story to tell but a lot of foul language john goodman made a great point in this movie not for kids an adult movie and a very compelling story about gambling and addiction

A different look at gambling. Dwells on the length an individual will go through to get money instead of walking away while winning. Only critique would be Marc Wahlberg's makeup.

Not the usual full on action movie that Mark Walberg is known for; so, I enjoyed this refreshing look at Walberg's other side of acting...I would recommend this one to watch.

Mark Wahlberg doesn't make bad movies (except for The Truth About Charlie, but we'll forget that one). His acting ability was once again on display in The Gambler. Every gut-wrenching moment on screen he feels, you feel too. When he makes a mistake, you will genuinely be disappointed with his character. John Goodman was also very believable in his role as well. This may not be a movie that you watch once per year, but it is one that you should see at least once.

A College Professor has a high dollar gambling habit that he has to reach out to the wrong people for help. An interesting path and result ensues. Good movie. Recommended.

The gambler never learns from his addictive problem and continues to get deeper into debt and life threatening situation. The ending lets you decide the outcome.

I bought this because Mark Wahlberg stars in it and I like his films.It takes a long time to get into the movie and then you understand the mind of the gambler.

I Liked The Gambler Very Nice Cast With A Very Well Written Story Line Ther Was No Dragging In This Film Which I Liked Very Good Gritty Film

The movie was a bit slow at times, but the suspense made up for that. I would have liked a bit more action but overall it was a good movie.

Mark Wahlburg always provides plenty of action and suspense in his movies. I prefer his military action movies, but he never disappoints.

A remake of the earlier vehicle with James Cann, which seemed really good back in the day (don't know how it would hold up by todays filmaking standards though). Mark W did a fine job, but since I was already familiar with earlier material I didn't really feel the tension that I did watching the original. Overall not a bad movie, get it on sale... go ahead and take a gamble!!! I think it is more of a 3.5 than a 3-star rating.

Another diverse role where the ending was a surprise. Need to payattention to whats happening in the middle to really enjoy the end.

The film allows the audience see a bird-side view of how one man accepts his responsibility and shortcomings of the gambling world.

Even if it is based on true events Mark Wahlberg still makes it seem kind of fictional I do enjoy the drama and the action though
