Spaghetti westerns are owned by Sergio Leone, don't get me wrong! His WERE the best, his were the first and quite frankly, there's some people who think he was the only person to make them. That is of course, way wrong, and Sergio Corbucci made some fine ones during the same period. The best is almost unarguably THE GREAT SILENCE, which, in recent times, was a huge influence on every film students favorite director Quentin Tarantino's THE HATEFUL EIGHT. Anyhow, this is a FANTASTIC presentation that looks and sounds as beautiful as a freshly printed 35mm version did back upon release. Even better, cause this one doesn't fade or scratch! Comes equipped with both Italian and English audio tracks and a nice little batch of bonus features as well.

Sergio Corbucci's "The Great Silence" (1968) arrives on Blu-ray courtesy of Film Movement. The supplemental features on the disc include original trailers for the film; new video program with filmmaker Alex Cox; restored alternate endings; Patrick Morin's vintage documentary "Western, Italian Style"; and more. In English or Italian, with optional English subtitles for the main feature. Region-Free.

This is a highly entertaining movie. It has great character development and great story plot.

Brilliant film from brilliant blu ray transfer. Excellent.

Tarantino was heavily inspired by The Great Silence. One of the more brutal and honest spaghetti westerns.
