Matt Damon to save the day. Great action scenes, but the story line could use a little more effort though.

The movie itself is totally senseless but entertaining nevertheless. The real reason for buying The Great Wall is that if you have a 4K TV that does HDR, it is absolute eye candy. The image is sharp and dynamic with excellent color saturation. It's an excellent product for showing what you new, expensive 4K set can do.

I went into this having heard all the negative press. I hadn't even seen the trailer. I like Matt Damon, I like Chinese/HK action, fantasy, drama films so I didn't see any reason why it would be bad. It wasn't. Is Matt Damon out of place? Sure. Is Willem Dafoe out of place, sure. I will say it sort of takes you out of the story but that's OK. It's a beautiful film! Watching it on Blu on my 70" Sony with 7.1 THX sound it was an enjoyable film. I will say it was A LOT better then LEGEND OF TARZAN or even KONG SKULL ISLAND. If you are expecting a Matt Damon action film you WILL be disappointed. If you are expecting a great Chinese fantasy film with Matt Damon in it you are in for a treat. The legend of why the wall was built is based on legend. The monsters were as good as the ones in KONG SKULL ISLAND. The colors looked vibrant which is worth noting. I get this movie isn't for all. You have to accept it for what it is NOT what you think it should be. Enjoy the movie as it was made and learn about other cultures film making styles (with U.S. actors - to try and sell it in the U.S.)

Super Effects and a good story :) Im loving the 4k aspects of home movies now and great sound.

Totally different movie from Matt Damon, plenty of action and special effects were first class.

This movie got slammed by critics before it's release because they cast Matt Damon and insisted his character have a pony tail. Pony tail brushed aside, I enjoyed the movie overall. I don't know if it's historically accurate based on the dragons and pony tails but if you can ignore that and enjoy it for what it is, I think you can grab some popcorn and find yourself mezmorized by what you're watching. I don't know if Matthews pony is CGI or if he grew it out for the role but based on his commitment to other roles and from what I wrote on his wikipedia page, the FX team or Matt deserve some recognition to their work. The 4K shines like the glimmering horses mane that flows off Matty's mop top and I highly recommend picking this up if you're a thrill seeking fan of dragons and ponies.

This movie was incredible, the film was so perfectly made I felt like I was in the movie!!

While the story is a bit hokey, the effects are incredible and it’s original. Enjoyable!

The writing is okay and the characters are never fleshed out, but the colors on a 4K/HDR TV will look amazing. I felt it spent too much focus on Matt Damon's character, and wish it spent more time on the warriors, who looked great. If you want an amazing Chinese made film, check out Red Cliff.

One of the best action adventure movie. The battle scenes, costumes, music were beautiful.

To be honest I wasn't expecting much from this movie. I went into it reading a few reviews and thinking that it was going to be terrible. It was actually pretty entertaining, and despite a few plot holes and inconsistencies, it makes for a great popcorn flick as it is a beautiful movie to watch.

Full of action and drama. Recommend to anyone who enjoys a true to life experience

Rented this the first time around and was pleasantly surprised. I'm familiar with Zhang Yimou movies but thought I wouldn't be too impressed with it. I was pleasantly surprised to find it entertaining enough to purchase it in 4K. This just ups the audio and visuals to the next level.

The Great Wall 4K UHD / BluRay is a tale of another time in an altered past.

This is NOT an "historical" flick; it's a fantasy ACTION extravaganza. Did I say "ACTION?" The effects blew me away. The female warriors are incredible. The good news is that there is not much thinking involved. I recommend a bit of your favorite "relaxant," turn off your brain and go along for the ride.
