    Worth the money

These extended editions were so much better than the theatrical versions. It shocks me how they left the best stuff out of the original versions. The extended battle scenes at the end were some of my favorites of all six movies. Wow. I honestly think the extended editions of the LOTR movies were just too long and didn't add that much more to the story. The extended scenes here really did. So much more of the story is explained with the extra scenes. I'm glad I bought it.

This is a good set to have for my kids, however they do not like that there are too many discs.

Tolkien is the only author, where it was an actual chore to get through the books for me. The adventure was lost in the pages worth of genealogy for each and every character. I finally quit halfway through Two Towers. The movies (Hobbit and Lord of Rings) were awesome and completely without "somebody, son of...(5 hours later)... son of [first Neanderthal ancestor]".

Extended versions certainly make more sense.

The Hobbit Trilogy Extended versions certainly fill more gaps, complete the stories, make way more sense. The battle between Sauran & Galadriel is more complete. The dwarf whirly defence against arrow barrages, and the dwarf chariot-mounted heavy arrow repeater machines had been theatrically left out, were superb, and make you wonder why they were not available 60 years later at Helm's Deep & Minas Tirith, especially against the Orc & Harradrim archers, Oliphants, & Trolls. Just wish they had added 50 minutes each like they did with The Lord of The Rings Trilogy, instead of just 14 to 23.

Ten years after THe HObbit films conquered the country, I purchased the extended edition trilogy. THe extra footage fitted really well with the story and brought some nice new moments to now-older content. I also bought the LOTR set and got the complete Tolkien library in print book form. Maybe I should now think about an e-book edition purchase.

What can I say? It's Tolkien, Middle Earth, the Hobbit, Gollum... everything I love. For people that haven't watched this, you must. It goes at a slower pace than The Lord of the Rings which might seem like a downfall but it actually allows you to get more into Tolkien's world. These movies include The Hobbit book and scenes from The Silmarillion, the extended scenes are great. So happy I bought this!

It is fun to be able to watch a movie at home as often as you like. Or to watch a section over again cuz you missed something in the movie. I liked this set as you get to see the story from beginning to end without interruption or commercials. This set also lets you see how the entire movie was conceived, created, and made along with the history of the characters. Glad audiences were considered.

This is part of the one ring story. How the one ring, the will & malice of Sauron, was found. This was another brilliant production by Peter Jackson. It has great cinematic views, and the storyline feels like you're just one of the dwarves. I watched it with my girls who love archery, Legolas, and Elves. Specially The brewing of jokes and love between certain dwarves & elves. The extras are great. The special extended scenes were seemlessly included.this is a must for any JRR Tolkien enthusiast.

Ok, it really doesn’t feel like it was that long time ago that these movies were going to be a hot buy and the marketing was really nice and splitting one long story split into 3 movies $$$! A few years ago I tried to play the game and ended up with parts of the story in different formats and and after the third install came out to the theater I didn’t care and was just burned out and never purchased the last movie. But its now 2021 and they placed all three movies in a nice package and the price is right (because they want you to buy the 4K version) so it was nice to watch it and look at it via fresh eyes.

Okay, okay, okay, die hard fans (like me) of the books will always say, "Films just can't compete with books." However, I'm not as hardcore as post people. The Hobbit Trilogy is definitely worth having, especially if you already have The Lord of the Rings films. If you don't have either film series, get both. I grabbed 'em both during Black Friday week, so I saved a tone. However, don't let that price tag deter you from either set of films. Just get the films already!

When I saw the first movie in theatres I made a decision to wait until all three movies came out with extended editions, then I would purchase this set because it’s bound to happen like the Lord of the Rings Extended collection. So to say the least I’m so excited to have this collection as it now completes my Middle Earth collection. Plus it comes digital too, I wish my L.O.R set had digital codes but oh well it’s still awesome. Get this while it’s still $59.99 before the price goes up to $79.99

The extra scenes were just what these films needed, it really changes them for the better. They flow a lot better than the standard editions and provide a lot more insight into the characters and their world. Paired with the LOTR Extended Edition box set, it makes for an epic weekend!

The Hobbit & other Tolkien works were part of my growing up. I read them over and over, and even wrote a couple school papers about them. The production quality of these movies (The Hobbit, one book, in three movies) is amazing, and that's an understatement. The only negative I would offer is that there are many departures from the book. Whether Mr. Jackson elected to do so as filler or for theatrics, I don't know. I will say the departures don't detract from the enjoyment.

A collector of blu rays, I had previously purchased the"Lord of the Rings" extended trilogy boxed set. This is not quite as elaborate, but matches closely enough on my shelf. The movies are gorgeous and I always enjoy the extras.

My last review was of the Bond series, and the very blank looking cover for the cases. Pleasant surprise when I opened this package. Very well done on the packaging end, and will be a welcome addition to my collection. Within the box are three cases, on for each of the three movies. There are 3 blu ray discs in each case. And no, I haven't watched them yet. Have not seen any of the movies on the big screen, so it will be an adventure for me.

I saw all three movies in the theaters and I knew that I would watch them again and again at home. I am glad that I waited to get them with the extended features and on Blu-ray, it makes the movies even more immersive. I will be eading the book to my grandchildren, just as I did with my children. And I am looking forward to pulling these out in a few years when my grand children are old enough to watch a familiar, but new story.

I bought the LOTR extended DVDs as soon as they came out in a box set, then again in blu-Ray. This extended blu-Ray trilogy set of the Hobbit adds some delightful additional footage to round out several story subplots, and makes it so much more satisfying, much like the LOTR set did. I will watch it several more times. So glad they got Christopher Lee to finish these before he went on white shores and the green country of Westernesse.

This pairs perfectly with the Extended Edition Blu-ray we have of the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. A must have for any fan. It has so much extra content and extended scenes. It's like watching it for the first time again as you try to spot everything that is new or different.
