I love watching the extended movie when, it doesn’t show me from the theaters. But, I often do realize how they didn’t show the extended version of the hobbit trilogy except, the lord of the rings trilogy as a cult classic.

So I've been waiting for this collection for a while! I have the LOTR one and I absolutely love it so I was over the moon excited when I saw that the Hobbit finally had an extended set. It's like watching the movies for the first time all over again. Getting to see all these new scenes or extended scenes is so awesome! If you're into the Hobbit and LOTR like me then this is a must have.

I absolutely love the hobbit series. I like this series more than LOTR but only because Frodo’s character irritates me. Bilbo is so brave and adventurous, the actor who plays him is fantastic I love him. Love all the extra scenes, this was definitely worth the purchase. I’m beyond happy.

Hobbit and Peter Jackson fans will more than likely enjoy the additions to the movies. I waited till all the extra had been added to grab this. Just been a Hobbit fan for over 40 years. Although not completely faithful to the original book, Jackson uses the information Tolkien had created for the Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings then embellishes into a rich story. The extended edition of "The Hobbit" trilogy is well worth adding to any modern classic film collection. Each movie is roughly 20 minutes longer than those in the regular editions (also available on Blu-ray). The extra chapters covered in the extended edition make this collection a must-own.

I have been waiting for this set to be released and was not disappointed. The extra scenes and all the appendices are well worth the purchase price. I could not be happier with this edition. All the extra bits are of the same quality and care the movies were shot with. If you enjoy watching film pre-production and on set shenanigans, then this extended edition will be a perfect addition to your collection.

I love the Hobbit trilogy, and it's the prequel to the Lord of the Rings. In this Blu-Ray collection, all of the Hobbit movies along with the extra discs are included. If you're a fan of the Lord of the Rings, start off first with the Hobbit trilogy, and then watch the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Everything comes in a full circle so get ready for a mighty, epic adventure!!!

The complete trilogy, plus. This version has some interesting additional or extended scenes, which add more background and explanation, but.. there are still some that drag things on too long for good "pacing" and story-telling. I can see why one in particular was cut short for the theatrical release, Still, with all the effort and money it took to create, it would be a shame not to have included it.

I went into “The Hobbit” thinking that these films would be terrible based on other fans’ recommendations. I was surprised to find that while these three films are definitely not as good as “The Lord of the Rings”, I still enjoyed them quite a bit. The cast is solid and despite adding some obvious padding and elements from other Tolkien stories such as “The Silmarillion”, this is still a pretty solid trilogy of films. I say it’s definitely a good idea to give these films a go if you haven’t already and I’ve heard that the Extended Editions are the way to go!

In terms of the movies themselves, they aren't quite as good as LOTR but they are darn good. I could do with a little less CGI with the Dwarves going crazy as gymnasts and physics geniuses, but, also, I think Tolkein had them as specialized. The box and is exactly what I wanted in that it folds out and has the map of middle earth on it, something I struggled to find.

If you want to purchase this trilogy, purchase it here! For the price, it’s well worth it. I expected the series to be at least $90, if you consider most Blu-rays are sold as $30 separately. You basically get 3 for the price of 2! The box set was handled carefully and arrived in great condition.

I am a fan of Tolkien and Peter Jackson does a wonderful job of bringing these characters to life. The only problem is in the theatres there is no intermission and I can't make it through the film without a break and then I miss something. At home, I can watch it a take a quick pause when necessary, however, i do find that I do this very little because the movies are so good.

Very long so make sure couch is very comfortable and plenty of popcorn, snacks and whatever you drink. Deleted scenes added to the movie while watching it. Great prequel to lord of rings. If you've seen the animated Hobbit movie from late 70s.

Most lord of the rings lore fans and just fans in general prefer extended additions because they add more from the books into the movies. The blue ray is good but know depending on your player it might have some funk, I’m on the x and it takes a few of it showing a spinning disc picture thing before it plays no big just weird.

Our family only recently delved into the world of Blue-Ray as well as a 4K HDTV. Wow! For those of you who are Tolkien fans, it's like the Mountain Trolls are preparing their soup right in your living room! According to my step-mother, the only thing that could have made this trilogy better would have been to release these before the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Ok, so technically this story is the first because it is a prequel but "The Hobbit" is exactly what every LOTR fan was expecting. This is a very good set with all the extras the fanboys and fangirls need. I have been a fan of Martin Freeman since the original version of "The Office" and I have always wanted to see him in a lead role. He does a great job grasping the role but making it his own. I don't and will not convince you to buy this set because if you are looking at this set you will buy it no matter what I write. "I am looking for someone to share in an adventure that I am arranging, and it's very difficult to find anyone."

I got to see these movies in theaters when they were out originally. If you're a fan of The Lord of the Rings movies or a fan of Tolkien then these should be pretty high up on your list of movies to see. Having seen the movies both in theaters and at home, I have not been able to see or hear and difference in the quality of the audio or video.

This was a great purchase. The only slightly negative thing is that we love to keep our cases in pristine condition. This set was mailed to us and the sticker was smack dab on the middle of the case. Aside from that, the discs are perfect and the features on this set are excellent. Overall- we are very pleased with this purchase!

I got this for my husband as a gift from the fur babies. And, of course, I had to sit and watch it with him and the brood. So worth it. The added scenes really closed gaps in the story. The fur babies will be giving their daddy the Extended Edition of LOTR for his birthday.

I purchased this as a gift requested by one of my adult children. She was thrilled to get it. I have not seen these movies, but have been told they are excellent. I would recommend these to a friend if they were interested in this genre and format. The sales person was most helpful when the scanned price did not match the price on the shelf.
