Excellent color, picture and sound. Dolby Atmos was definitely the way to go on this one, I don’t have Dolby Vision so I can’t compare but it’s adaptable to HDR plus technology and does an excellent job with smooth transition. The audio is superb and the Selection of Atmos over DTSX was a wise decision. I’m actually glad it didn’t include BluRay versions as I do not need several copies of those.

As a long-time fan of Lord of the Rings books (including The Hobbit) and then the movies, I instantly fell in love with The Hobbit movie series. I have purchased Blu-Ray of the LotR theatrical releases, then the Blu-Ray of the LotR Extended Edition, then The Hobbit theatrical releases, and then its Extended Edition, as well. Needless to say, I've been eagerly waiting for the 4K HDR discs to come out as well and I must say I am *VERY* impressed with the noticeable jump in visual quality from Blu-Ray to 4K HDR. One of the big problems with going from Blu-Ray to 4K is that special effects tend to not upscale well, especially a massive leap from 1080p to 4K, so I was pleasantly surprised by how well the special effects in The Hobbit transferred over to 4K. That plus the HDR was applied extremely well which makes the Tolkien world even more vivid than ever before. Overall, I'm super happy with this purchase. Not every 4K remaster is done well with minimal improvements, but that's definitely not the case here. Long-time fans of the series, as well as those who enjoy the best visual quality possible, will absolutely enjoy this 4K disc set.

The movies are great and the 4k quality is also great, but they really did not seem to care that much for the quality of the packaging at all. For something this expensive with a beloved franchise like LOTR I feel like they should have made the quality of the packaging better. Otherwise the movies are amazing and it is awesome having the theatrical versions along with the extended versions.

I was skeptical at first, but I’m a HUGE LOTR and The Hobbit fan, so it was an easy choice for me. I was blown away by the fidelity and superb remastering in this box set. I have the previous release blu-ray box set and I thought it looked great as well. However, I recently purchased a 65” Samsung Q90T QLED TV and an XBOX Series X which doubles as a 4K UHD player. Before purchasing the 4K UHD box set, I had recently watched the regular blu-ray version of The Fellowship Of The Ring and to be honest, I was disappointed with the upscaling and lower quality the regular blu-rays provided when watching on my new set up. Well, after purchasing the new box set, I re-watched The Fellowship Of The Ring and I was completely blown away by how crisp and clear all the scenes were compared from the previous remaster. If you are a serious fan of The Lord Of The Rings and The Hobbit, then this box set is a must buy from Best Buy (see what I did there?)

This product has digital codes however, they ARE EXPIRED. I know it says it is compatible with Movies Anywhere and they never have an expiration code, but this one does. Just bought it this week and was super bummed I could't add it to my digital collection. Other than that, everything is perfect and a great piece to your physical collection.

Can’t compare this trilogy to the LOTR but the 4K picture and audio are excellent. The Dolby Atmos tracks added to all three films are the highlights which immerse you into the films. Must own!

Like everyone else, I have been waiting for both of the series to be released in 4K, and now I have both. I purchased the Lord of the Rings Steelbook set and I wish I could have purchased this to match. Now, I see that they re-released this box set in the steelbook format. Oh well....with that said... I loved this move and I totally love that they have the original and the extended versions in this 4K set. I definitely see a difference in clarity and in the audio. I have the Blu-Ray box set and now I have the 4K. I put the 4K movie on my Sony Z9 television and the Blu-Ray in my bedroom Sony 4K television with a 4K DVD player (that upgrades to near-UHD quality). I paused both at various portions of the movie and I can definitely see the clarity in the 4K UHD box set. In addition, the audio surround sounds is fantastic. If you love the series, I highly recommend that you pick up this 4K box set.

    The Hobbit Trilogy on 4k!!

Many do not like this trilogy, but I really like it. I do realize it has flaws and it can't hold a candle to The Lord of the Rings but it's not meant to because this is the prequel. The 4k makes the image sharper and more detailed, the HDR (High Dynamic Range) pops when it needs to and it gives off great colors, the sound is amazing and if you have surround sound you will love this!! A lot of people had a problem with the CGI in this movie but in this new 4k, the CGI blended very well with the environment and looks a lot better. This set comes with the Theatrical movies, the Extended movies all on 4k, AND it comes with the Theatrical and Extended for digital!! So overall great set!!
