This movie stays with the story line of the book about as well as you can in an 2 hour movie. The ability to gather the background story details on screen vs. the spoken word is done especially well. The Blu-Ray version is fine. BluRays are not always worth the extra money since it loads slower and doesn't pause or stop as easily as regular DVDs, but this is one movie that may be worth a few extra bucks due to the cinematography and detail.

Like all book-to-movie collaborations it's not a perfect telling because it would be a much longer movie but the essence of the story and character development is all here! Don't like to read? This is a great start to the trilogy. If you like to read, read and watch, but you probably already have!! I will say she makes for a poor screamer maybe she needs to watch a few "B" horror flicks to get the feel for a good scream!

I loved this movie! The cinematography was stunning and the acting was outstanding. Woody Harrelson was fantastic. I was skeptical because of all the hype, thinking it was only a movie for tweens but got sucked in right away. As far as Sci-fi movie go, this movie is right up there with Soylent Green. Sure to become a classic! However, I would not have small children watch it because the themes/scenes are graphic and violent.

I seriously can't stop watching this! I've seen it so many times, I can recite almost the entire script as it plays! Jennifer Lawrence is such a talented, beautiful person! I was a little disappointed that the movie doesn't follow the book exactly, but hey... I don't know of a movie that has ever followed the book completely! Can't wait to purchase the rest of the movies in this series!

Our daughter loves the Hunger Games movies, and we bought all the Blu Rays for her birthday. They're great. I don't know of anyone who hasn't seen these movies, but if you haven't? Watch them! They are intense, probably too intense for very little kids, the acting is fine, some of the characters are very memorable, and the movies leave you hanging the way they should :).

Although it is the oldest of the films the 4K still makes it look better, although not as good as the last 2 flims. Looks really good in 4K the night scenes are easier to see due to the blacker colors with HDR. My wife watches these movies alot so I wanted to give her an upgrade from her blurays. Too bad they do not come in the SteelBook cases.

Hunger game 2 is in most ways better than the first 1. True, it has less actions, and also true it's less about Katiness. But while the first kind of showed people killing each other for the sick entertainment of others, the second movie started to show the human side of a lot of people. It gave people more depth and the world more believably. in a way, it also put a question to us, for those of us who enjoyed the first movie for the killing, are we better than those rich and sick people in the movie?

This 2nd installment of the Hunger Games was better than the first because it was able to incorporate move expensive cinematography. The basic story behind the primary characters only needed to be expanded upon as the story unfolded. Several sub-plots that were in the book were eliminated from the movie - but what movie doesn't to that? The last scene of the movie was masterful!

Personally, I thought Catching Fire was a better film than the first. The actors have improved their craft and the story flowed very well. While not able to capture as much detail as the books, the script got all of the key points across while avoiding any serious slowdowns in film pacing. Video quality is reference as is the lossless 7.1 soundtrack. Another amazing demo disc.

I already have the Blu-Ray for this, but wanted to let my daughter experiment Hunger Games in 4K since we got our new TV. The detail was amazing, I saw lots more in this version than the Blu-Ray with the backgrounds and other environment details. Love it!

We had a movie night in 3D. Great movie, fantastic colors. The CGI was like you were there, especially in the "arena". Story line is future fantasy. Well written, great scripts and actors. Story line kind of links back to what is happening in the world of today. We viewed on a 55 inch Samsung 3D tv with a Denon Amp and Klipish speakers. AWESOME!

This was a great 1st movie in a series of sequels that are sure to follow. It has propelled Jennifer Lawrence's career, as well as, had some other great cast members, such as Donald Sutherland, Woody Harrelson, Lenny Kravitz and Elizabeth Banks. Overall, it was good movie to watch and has left an open ending for more sequels in the future.

The last few years it seems there has not been many original films coming out. There has been so many comic hero type movies which I really dont care about. This Trilogy has been something refreshing and has even got me to go to the theatre to watch. I would recommend to anyone wanting something that is exciting with great effects.

I really love the Hunger Games movies, so it's no surprise that I enjoy this purchase. The thing that's really great is the inclusion of the digital copy, so that I can watch it from anywhere that I've got wi-fi or on my tablet that I've loaded it onto. I've noticed this benefit showing up more lately and it's really a nice perk.

This is a super movie !! Is there anyone out there that did not see it? Jennifer Lawrence is amazing as is Josh Hutchinson and of course Liam Hemsworth. I am however, Team Peeta !! Great movie if you have not seen it. At the time Catching Fire came out, if you bought the Blu-Ray copy, it was bundled with each other and I saved over $13.

I picked up the Hunger Games from Best Buy for the exclusive steelbook case, which is great and was priced low enough that I didn't mind buying a second copy of the Hunger Games just to have the matching cases for the first two movies. My only complaint is that the Blu-ray version of the movie I purchased when it was first released had two discs, while this version only has the disc with the feature film, and not the disc full of extras.

I read the book series and anticipated the movie series.I wasn't disappointed. Can't wait to see the rest of the movies. I would recommend reading books first because some things, not many, were left out. Lets hope our future never holds "The Hunger Game"

I bought this movie to go along with my new Xbox one S 4K player. This is a great movie, but can be upsetting younger viewers. There is some violence and kids fighting other kids to the death, which is a little disturbing, but that is the point. This is the beginning of a 4 movie series so there is a little "introduction" period, but it catches on pretty quick and is entertaining til the end.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this movie! Great actors, on-your-toes action, fast pase, and filled with unpredictable relationships/deaths. The plot takes you away from reality, and makes you think twice about "what would you do". Compelled to save her family/friends, Jennifer Lawerance is rividing!! Highly recommend the movie to friends.

This is a great movie and sticks to the book for the most part. I accidentally bought this even though i already owned it thinking i was buying the 2nd one because it was in the big display with the newly released film. I just wanted it on Blu ray and didn't need the DVD version but accidentally purchased this one again!
