This movie did not disappoint and the twist at the end is amazing. It will leave you with your mouth open and the edge of your seat the entire time. You will want to watch all of the movies. I feel the movie did a pretty good job at following the books.

Of the Hunger Games series of movies, this is my favorite. Rather than the other movies, I prefer the books, which are more complex in plot. This first tale is and emotional, action filled take on an underdog. My favorite type of movie!

The Hunger Games captures the political and social undertones of Suzanne Collins' brilliant novel while refusing to exploit the idea of kids being trapped in an arena to fight to the death. It is a great science fiction picture because of its pacing, ensemble cast, and portrayal of a nation that governs its people through fear and fascism

i loved how she stood up for her sister and took her place knowing she might die. she never gave up though she was alone thru most of the ordeal with only one person that helped her . she never gave up and she was not being intimidated by the other players

One of the rare movies (series) that is, so far, as good as the books. The first movie really did a good job of creating the feeling of hopelessness and blah...the grays and browns that the book described well. Can't wait for the next movies in the series.

Great movie. It is a good series based on the book. Came with digital copy and the Blu-ray worked great. Just need to sign up with a program like Flixter or Vudu and link it to an Ultraviolet account and you can watch the movie on your smart TV or on a mobile device.

After reading the Hunger Games series of books, I wanted to see the movies. This is the first of a series of 4 DVDs which has Katniss Everdeen, fighting for her life. You will surely want to also buy Catching Fire, the sequel, after seeing this movie.

I enjoyed the book series and the movies were decent. I would say the movies are ranked as follows: 1) Catching Fire, 2) Mocking Jay, Pt. 2, 3) Hunger Games & 4) Mocking Jay, Pt. 1 They really didn't need 4 movies (greedy) Jennifer Lawrence brought the stubbornness of Katniss to her role, but she lacks the ability to show true emotion in any of her roles. Her crying always seems forced or over-acted. I always thought this series would have been better (in the movies) if they had Katniss narrate parts. There is only so much an actor can do with their facial expressions (where a scene that so much is going on in Katniss' heart or mind are concerned) Had she narrated those moments like she does in the book, then the movie's story and her internal conflict over Peeta & Gale and everything she feels; would have come off better with the audience. As a book to movie, this one was average.

The Hunger Games is an exciting movie that has it all - action, special effects, a love story and an uplifting story. I recommend it for anyone who likes a good action movie. Don't be afraid of the "sci-fi" aspects to the plot as they are not overbearing.

I don't usually watch movies of books I have read because they veer too far. Though there were a few "dramatic" changes from the book version, they were minimal. Loved the actors they used to portray the characters. Great movie. Will be watching it again.

The movie is amazing. I wasn't initially interested in seeing this movie but I heard so much about it that I wanted to check it out. I was completely pulled in by the story and the characters. It is a great story and wonderfully portrayed by the actors.

I was a little late to the hunger games movie but when I finally decided to watch the first one best buy had it for such a great price I decided to buy it rather than rent on demand thru comcast. They had plenty in stock even tho it's an older movie.

I found this movie very enjoyable because it told the story of a reluctant hero and warrior who is a female. The choices she made to become a part of The Hunger Games and once in the games, were made for the best reasons. It was very entertaining.

The movie from the beginning keeps you wrapped in its intense storyline based in its small town. Right off you're pulled in in anticipation of what may happen next. Great plot/storyline/actors for this movie, but very little graphics or visual appeal. Yet even despite, the actors do a great job of carrying it along to a great ending!

This movie was a let down if you took the time to read the series. if you have never read the books then this movie is great. I made the mistake of breaking my rule and reading the book after the film was released. Not a good idea in this case.

This is a great start to the series. It follows along with the book pretty well. There were a lot of liberties taken, but when aren't they when doing a book to movie. I am excited for the series and will be buying them as they come out.

Get with the movement. Hunger Games is here and you should definitely pick it up. This movie is very enjoyable and the Steelbook exclusiveness at BB makes it all the more reason to pick it up and start a Hunger Games Steelbook collection.

My husband and I prefer to watch movies with no profanity, nudity and heavy sensual undertones, this movie pairs nicely with our standards. We really like the plot and overall theme. We will definitely be buying all of them when the time comes to have the complete set. Overall, a great selection for more reserved people.

This is a good movie. My daughter absolutely loves this movie. It is pretty good. One of these days when the sequels comes down to a very cheap price I will buy them also and watch them. I like it when the price is right, and LOW.

WHEN A PERSON ONLY HAS ONLY THEIR WIT AND QUICK REFLEXES TO DEFEND THEMSELVES, THAT CREATES A FEELING OF VULNERABILITY AND DESPERATION. I REALLY FELT HER PAIN AND FEAR, BUT HER WILL TO SURVIVE OUTWEIGHED HER ANGST.
