Vaporware comes to life and is good

Vaporware (games in limbo that almost seem like they never will come out) have a bad, bad tendency to be..well bad Last Guardian fortunately bucks that trend and is solid The biggest criticism you'll here from everyone is the bad camera angles and at times frustrating controls, but for the every time you want to throw your controller, you'll have two moments of joy The AI of Trico (the weird bird dog hybrid creature) is incredible. The game has a strong sense of symbolism and beauty. If you have played Ico or Shadow of the Colossus then you already know what to expect If you can overcome its shortcomings, you'll have a wonderful experience in this light platformer with puzzles

    Bad controls - fun game

Like every review I read before it, the controls and camera are a bit frustrating. It does feel like a PS3 game with a little polish on it. And Trico, the giant animal feels very lifelike but has a slow and frustrating learning curve that I feel could have been better. But that being said the game is still very fun, the score is beautiful, and it is very immersive with great pace and good puzzles. Also all the things I complained about could easily be fixed in a future patch.

This is the last team Ico game. I wish they would bundle all three together with PS4 remastering. Slow games with little dialog and janky camera and controls, but they always have a plot twist that pulls at the heartstrings. If you play games for art and not competition, you'll like this game.

Fun game marred by performance and gameplay

The story was engaging and interesting; on par with Shadow of the Colossus IMO. The graphics are beautiful but there are always drops in frame rates (I am playing on a Pro). Learning to control the animal is extremely frustrating at times, but it does gives you the sense of working with a living creature. The biggest negative of the game is the controls...they were beyond frustrating coupled with the camera. I beat the game and traded it in immediately... not one I will ever revisit, but glad I played it.

Nice little Ico-style story about a kid that befriends a giant beast. My only gripe is that the controls are a bit clunky and getting Trico to do what you want may require some patience. But it's a nice little romp. (Especially for the $16 I paid for it.)

Best Game in a Long Time

This game is absolutely breathtaking. The visuals are incredibly well thoughout and portrayed, I can see why it took so long. The beast companion Trico immediately finds a place in your heart, making this a game that stays with you long after you've finished. There are some minor critiques. The controls are a little wonky. Not unbearable, but it can get frustrating. However it is important to keep in mind that Trico is an animal, so when it comes to commands, it is completely realistic to have to tell him a few times. The camera angles could be a little off at times as well. However for me, this did not detract that much from the gameplay. I can honestly say this is one of my all time favorite games.

This game is just amazing. The story and soundtrack compliment each other like peanut butter and chocolate. However, the camera angles do need getting used to. Hopefully a patch will be released in the future to solve this issue.

This is a pretty unique gaming experience. The game is beautiful, and it's really wonderful running around and solving puzzles. Trico feels like a real animal with its own thoughts and behaviors. But it can be frustrating at times due to camera angles and controls. Especially climbing Trico. Something that worked so well in Shadow of the Colossus just isn't done well in this game. Overall a really good game, but with enough flaws to prevent it from reaching the heights of Shadow of the Colossus or Ico.

If you're looking for the gaming equivalent of a Michael Bay movie, this game probably isn't for you. However, this should not deter you from purchasing the title anyways. The Last Guardian has quickly become one of my favorite titles from the past decade. I immediately fell in love with Trico (the beast from the cover) because of how stunningly realistic this creature of fantasy reacts and responds to the in game world around it. While I'll admit the controls felt clunky at first, this is easily forgiven once you adapt and dive into the story. Stunning visuals Great narrative Interesting puzzles Challenging

This game was in the making for like 7-10 years. So as for the controls, the gameplay feel of it, it feels kinda old. Mainly the camera. At times it will not place itself in a proper position or allow you to move it to a better point of view. It may have needed a first person point of view for those times that you are fighting the camera. Other than that the game looks great. It sounds great. I play it on the PS4 pro. So I haven't had any problems that I have read online about. If you can wait for a price drop. Like probably around the $50-40 range. Then this game is even better.

The last guardian is a game we have all been waiting a long time to play and boy was it worth the wait. Where it falls short is the camera angles and controls but that being said the last guardian is a great game with an amazing story. The relationship that develops between the characters is so heart felt and touching that it's almost as though your developing a real life relationship. I'm my opinion one of the best games this generation to make you feel for a character

A visually beautiful game with glaring problems like broken AI, and camera angles makes for an experience that should have been better. Regardless, The Last Guardian is a very particular kind of game and not for everyone. You won't find any action here or weapons. The game revolves more around story telling and puzzle solving to get you through the world. Still a good experience but may not be for everyone.

I only give this game 4 stars strictly because it isn't for everyone. Not everyone will enjoy a single-player adventure that gives you very little guidance as far as what to do or where to go. At first, I had a hard time getting enjoyment out of it in the beginning but once you get the rhythm of the game and kinda get a feel for it, it can be an enjoyable experience. It's not THAT long (considering there's a trophy for beating it in 5 hours or less) but I would recommend it for those who are into single player adventure games with puzzles. Try to get it on sale though. Plus Trico is a cute dog, cat, bird thing who has a mind of its own.

As a huge fan of Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, one of the main reasons I finally purchased a PS4 was for this and a couple other exclusive Sony titles. So far, I'm not disappointed - great atmosphere/puzzles/mechanics.

This game is not without faults; the camera angles can be frustrating and it's not always easy to get Trico to do what you want. But if you're familiar with Ico and Shadow of the Collosus, you know about the bugs but the story and bond between the characters overcome any possible difficulties in gameplay. I'm hopeful the negatives can be patched, but this game is truly beautiful and worth playing even if it's left as is. Probably the most heartfelt game ever made on the PS4.

After almost 10 years of development, The Last Gaurdian has finally released. Not only has it met my expectations, it exceeded them! The graphics are stunning, the gameplay is solid, the story is beautiful. My only complaint is that the camera can be a little wonky, and there are a couple or frustrating puzzles, but with some patience (or the Internet) they can me overcome. If you enjoyed Ico and Shadow of The Colossus, you will definitely enjoy The Last Gaurdian.
