Let me first say the hate that this game is getting is rediculous. In totality it's not as good as the first but this game improves in every area of the first game except the story. I have played the first game at least a dozen times and genuinely feel it's one of the greatest games of all time. The story, although not a unique plot, was excellent and unique in execution. The explanation and cause of the outbreak was in my opinion the best and most unique compared to any other zombie game, tv show or movie that I've seen. The atmosphere and pacing was great. The weakest part of the game I would say was the gameplay but the gameplay was still very solid. The stories behind the collectable letters were in my opinion phenomenal, especially the ish stories.
All of the characters were well written and acted and the Joel and Ellie bond was amazing. The music, which to me is an essential part of gaming, was perfect. Everything mixed together made this a must play and all time great game that in my opinion did not need a sequel.
The last of us 2 improves in most areas of the first. The combat and stealth is amazing. I like that you can now go prone, the dodging is an excellent improvement. The fact the the enemies all have names is a nice touch. The visuals can go blow for blow with the best looking games out there. Although the story isn't as great as the first, it's not bad by any stretch. I'm not going to spoil it too much but an important character is killed early on in the game and that's why people are review bombing it. Although I would've liked if the character did not die, i expected it. The 2 things that brings the game down for me are Abby's sections, which aren't bad but I felt most of it could've been reduced. Also the plot in general wasn't executed as well as the plot in the first game. Just to restate, the plot in both games are not unique but the execution I'm the first game is leaps and bounds better than the first. Because the execution of the plot was a huge part greatness of the first game, it brings the experience down some. Also, the music in the sequel seems to be watered down compared to the first. it's still an excellent game and a must own if you own a ps4. I think it would've been better if the made a sequel but told someone else's story, like ish that I mentioned earlier.

Minor Spoilers. Finally finished Part 2 and letting the game settle more in my head. The Gameplay in my opinion is great. Plays similar to the first game which may turn off some people but the improvements to level design and enemy aggression makes the game far more intense and engaging especially at higher difficulties which i do recommend playing at. Not much needs to said about graphics because your jaws will drops of just how amazing the attention to detail is in this game. HDR and 4K up scaling looks fantastic as well. But turn off the motion blur its way too eye melting for my liking. Story is more of a mixed bag its definitely not a perfect game but its no where near as bad as some reviewers are making it out to be. Some focused at the wrong things but what i will say is the game's pacing is not good. Towards the end of the game you feel more drained and not as engaged as you should be. Which is weird because the first half of the game is so good and engaging its baffling to see that come to a complete halt to tell a 2nd half of the story. Yes. You do play as a different character with a different perspective which i actually do like. You will most likely be angry as to why you are playing as them. But i was fully able to emphasize and to put myself in their shoes and i can understand their perspective. And i think thats why the ending to me works so well. Again some people feel different about that and thats fine this was just my opinion. Overall the game is good but its not the masterpiece as some tout it to be but its no where near a "bad' game.

The special edition is very nice. The steelbook has a cool design and the mini art book is full of great art and details about the game. The digital items are just kinda extra but also very cool. The gameplay is an improvement over the first game with more crafting options and interesting new weapons and combat tactics that add a lot to the game. The visuals are outstanding. Beautiful scenes and unmatched attention to detail. A lot you would expect out of naughty dog. The story is where this game falls short. It is very very long. Nearly three times the length of the first game, depending on your play style. The introduction of new major characters that have very few interesting qualities makes the game feel even longer. I found myself wishing it was over halfway to 2/3 through the story. If you liked the first game, there will be things you like about the game and things you’ll probably really hate about it. Solid 6/10 overall

This game feels much different from the original, but still has that great Naughty Dog storytelling core. Like the first game the characters are the heart of the story and there are some really amazing, gut-punching scenes that whiplash your expectations.
Playing as a grown up Ellie was a huge selling point, but what I did not expect was where her journey would take me. The way her story weaves with Abby's and where they end up physically and mentally was truly like reading a great piece of literature. I did jot expect to love some characters, and I definitely did not expect to disagree so strongly with others. The gameplay itself has had some amazing improvements over the first game which were great both in story and gameplay, but also brought new levels of dread to difficult sections. There are plenty of options for customizing your own play style as well as a plethora of technical changes that can be made to accomodate every person who wants to enjoy this game. In many ways this game pushes the bar higher than any in the gaming industry before.
While it is a long journey, and a very tough one to experience mentally, it was worth every second of gameplay. The only way to truly experience this absolutely beautiful work of art is to play it yourself!

I personally thought it was a great game. It forces the player to think about other perspectives. Without delving too much into spoilers, I played through the whole game and while at first I disagreed with the game creators decisions, I digested everything at the end of the game and understand why they made them. I was at the edge of my seat the whole time and felt a range of emotions.
*spoilers below*
People are going to be upset and understandably so, but they have to replay the first one. Joel was definitely not a ‘good’ guy. He wanted nothing to do with ellie at first, he admitted that he had killed a lot of innocent people. Just because he was the main character in the first one and you empathized with him because of the loss of sarah, he still did some bad stuff. People have to think, if the first game was through the perspective of the fireflies, you play through and at the end some guy kills everyone you cared about, you’d probably feel differently about Joel. Dont get me wrong, I wanted to repay Abby tenfold for what she did and was a bit disappointed at the end, but ellie didnt want to continue the cycle and I get that. Just my thoughts on it

Avoid all spoilers and just give this game an opportunity to take you through a journey where revenge can be seen for what it is...ugly and we shouldnt allow ourselves to walk down that path as you will see first hand how it feels through the characters perspective. I loved the combat and there are moments of intensity that had my blood pressure about to explode...sure the game has faults and personally its not better than the first one but for me it doesnt have to be. what this game does well is that it continues the story and in turn shows that in that world there are many stories and it challenges the player to feel how there choices impact others and can the characters move forward when enough is enough. the gameplay is fun and improved from the original game and there's alot to explore so take your time also the accessibility options are amazing to allow everyone to experience the story...after beating the game i started playing again with slow mo aiming...so much fun lol

This game is absolutely breath taking. The graphics, the sound, the voice, the UI, the upgrades. Everything so far is improved on from the original and it doesn’t disappoint. Yah the story not might be AS good as the original (how could it), but it’s still great. All these people giving it one star are ridiculous. And to all the people giving it one star cause your pre order was delayed...really? You’re here to review the game itself, not Best Buy’s customer service. Yah it’s unfortunate that your order got delayed, but maybe you should have pre ordered in Sept. when it was announced or just not the last few weeks until release; especially when the game got its release date pushed and changed. Just cancel and order it digitally. You couldn’t have been too stoked on it when you took that long to pre order. So the combo of people bashing it and people who waited to the last minute to order are trashing legitimate reviews, from people who haven’t even finished the game, let alone started it. This game is fantastic and deserved legitimate reviews. 5/5. Will update review as I continue to play.

I know this game has stirred up a hornets nest of stuff, but for me personally I enjoyed the game for the most part. I’ve played the first game numerous times and am obsessed with it. The story for this game wasn’t what I was expecting, but it also wasn’t the worst thing either. There’s a beautiful message in the story, you just have to see it and realize it. I didn’t enjoy the second half of the game since you don’t play as Ellie. That to me was a strange move to pull from Naughty Dog. All that aside, if this was just a random new IP, then I’d say it was 10/10 game of the year quality with a unique story. The gameplay was the best for me. The different amount of things you can do and combination of moves you can string together, was just mind blowing. The cut scenes were so beautiful, it was like watching a movie. Overall I still enjoyed the game and would recommend it, but if you’ve played the first game, you probably won’t like this games story all too much, but if you haven’t then you’ll love it. I’d still recommend this game to someone just to experience it for themselves.

This game is no short of a masterpiece. My only criticism of the game is maybe the pacing but overall a very brutal game that has a very beautiful story to tell. The steelbook and the artbook that come with this bundle is absolutely jaw dropping. It is very well put together and a welcome display for any gamer.

The game is spectacular, the level designs and gameplay systems are awesome. While the story doesn’t work for some people, I personally loved it. There are some pacing issues in the middle, and I would give it a 4.5 stars if I could, but the ambition and payoff of the story is worth every penny.

The Last of Us (1st game) was described as a story of Loss and Love, The Last of Us Part II is a story of Loss and Hate. The game is beautiful and does an excellent job of being familiar to the first game but in a new and different way. It doesn't feel like replaying the first game and instead truly does feel like a continuation from the first game. The game can be unforgiving for those that like to speed through games since you will miss a lot of story and helpful items. Of you like stealth type games than you will like this since it can often turn out that hiding or slowly picking off enemies is the best course of action. With that said there is a ton of actions since the game itself will force you into situations where fighting or running might be the only options. To keep this short I'll say if you loved the first game than you will love this one too. If you hated the first one than I'm not sure why you would even be reading this.

I loved everything about the game. The beautiful graphic, intense gameplay, exhausting theme and heartbreaking story. Immensely moving, brutal and yet so good to play.
I did not have a very wonderful experience buying from Best Buy, however. BB did not deliver on the release day which they guaranteed me they would. They didnt put me on Saturday delivery either, so I had to wait until Monday to receive my copy. There was absoluty no update on the delay until litterally the guaranteed day it would ship. And I had to speak to 3 different agents four day after the game is released to receive my "Pre-order" code. I understand it's just a game, and I would have happily waited for it, if Best Buy has done a better job of communicating properly with me the shipping issues, without me having to talk to a cumulative of 5 agents.

Any game that pushes the boundaries of what makes us comfortable is going to meet resistance. The Last of Us Part II, like it's predecessor, forces the player into a role that makes us uncomfortable. This game asks us to see the world from a perspective most gamers have never had, in a world that is darker than we can imagine on our own. The game is visually stunning, the mechanics are similar to the first game (if not improved), and the story telling is as poignant as Ever. Don't let the negative reviews online fool you. This game is incredible if you're open to being uncomfortable. You can't grow without experiencing some discomfort, and games can't engage an audience without taking risks. Naughty Dog takes plenty of risks with this game and, in my opinion, they really pay off. Plenty of content as well, and the art book with the special edition is really nice!

Quite simply a masterpiece. Very rarely does a game leave you give you so much too think about, debate, and FEEL. I found myself feeling one way, or wanting a specific thing to happen, even though that thing was almost morally indefensible.
That's how connected one gets to these characters, how tethered we are too their perspective that even as we see a more complete picture, and it gets harder to justify their actions, we stick when them. They have become "our people", right or wrong.
Gameplay itself is good, maybe even very good, but not great and certainly not innovative. It's only a slight evolution from TLOU part 1, but still quite fun.
But the point here is the narrative...the story itself, and it's treatment of revenge and redemption is truly more powerful and nuanced than anything to come out of Hollywood.

Gonna say two things. First, on the side that Best Buy is responsible for, ordering the game was fine. Got in on time and the package was in good physical condition. On the side of the developers, I quite liked the game. I know a lot of people didn't but I genuinely did. The story, gameplay, graphics, and general feel of the game matched my expectations as developed from playing the last game. the story in particular exceeded my expectations and actually caught me off guard in a lot of respects. I know that puts me in a minority (if you go based off of the opinions of people on the internet) but I don't care. I enjoyed the game and am excited to see where Naughty Dog intends to take the series from here
