As a huge fan of The Last of Us series, I had high expectations for Part II—and it blew me away. The storytelling is emotional, raw, and beautifully complex. The gameplay is smooth and intense, the graphics are stunning, and the world feels so real that I find myself completely immersed every time I play.
I’ve played it five times now, and somehow it still feels fresh. Every replay reveals something new—whether it’s subtle dialogue, environmental details, or the emotional weight of the choices made. If you loved the show, the game dives even deeper into the characters’ journeys and expands the world in unforgettable ways.
It’s not just a game—it’s an experience. Highly recommend.

This game is beautiful. Right from the beginning, it feels like you're controlling a character in a movie. The story grabs you right away and does not drop off. It kept me engaged all the way through. I wish there was less standing around learning NPC paths (most of the time you must avoid combat because ammo and weapons are scarce), but it is a small inconvenience. Overall, I give this game a 5/5 and would recommend this to anyone who loves a good story along with good game-play.

I've played video games for years and years. I've played games from every genre. Of all those I have played, among many different systems, The Last of Us stands up tall as one of the best experiences I have had. Notice that I called it an "experience". It's more than just simple game. You feel like a participant in a great movie. Everything about this game screams quality. The story, voice acting, game play, graphics, scenery, and controls are all terrific. It's combination RPG, action/adventure, survival/horror and 3rd person shooter. Amazingly, it does all very well. The big payoff for the game is the story though. It's a story that keeps you coming back. I found my self playing just to see what happens next to the main characters. They are so realistic in their humanity, that it's easy to empathize with and root for them. It's rare for me to play game and end caring so much about the characters. The story starts out simplistic enough, with a Walking Dead type story. Some outbreak almost destroys civilization and turns people into dangerous man eating ghouls. You follow the main characters who survived the calamity and you see how it has affected their lives. Now society exists in smaller "safe" zones that are ruled by the military, with an iron fist. It's a dangerous world that's filled with monsters, gangs, cannibals, etc. Yet, there may be hope, in the form of a possible cure to the disease. I wont say anymore, because I don't want to spoil it. Just get ready for an immersive experience that will hold you captive for quite a while......in a good way of course.

One of my favorite games. Be warned, if you don't enjoy long sequences of you controlling characters walking and having interesting conversations, you won't like this game. That being said, the action is excellent, the graphics and framerate are superb, and while the story may seem like a standard "after the end of the world" scenario, the dialogue and character interactions make it stand out and punch you in the emotions.

This honestly might be the best game I've ever played.
I know a lot of people have heard that before, but I believe this is the complete package. It seriously gives HL2 & Bioshock (my 2 other personal favorites) a run for their money. It's nothing we haven't seen before in terms of mechanics/innovation but the story makes you forget about all that. It makes you believe. It makes you feel.
Without spoiling anything it's essentially a Walking Dead/Survival Horror type story that plays like a perfect mix of Red Dead Redemption/Uncharted/Tomb Raider (from the makers of Uncharted, obviously) with a nice balance of story & 3rd person cover shooting.
The story itself I can't say much about other than it's seriously awesome :) It will take you on one of the best journeys you'll play all year. That's all I want to say (DON"T READ MUCH ELSE BE AWARE OF SPOILERS!)
Where this review gets my maximum praise though is for it's multuiplayer effort which gets seriously overlooked. I consider myself a hardcore MP gamer (with a heavy SOCOM, CS, Halo background) and this is the best entry since some of those games. A hardcore TPS with heavy cover aspects that also incorporates the scavaging/mending aspects from single player. With smaller teams it's the perfect blend of nail bitting edge of your seat action.
I'm guessing the game also comes with all DLC released which at a discounted rate makes this the entire package. A must buy for $50, and a must buy for any new PS4 owners
Stunning to look at but still not game of the year

I had this on PS3 when it first came out. I played it, finished it and the traded it the day after. I bought the remastered edition because I thought I maybe was not in the right mind set when I played it and maybe now, being on PS4 and remastered visuals, I would like it better. This is a good game. The story is near perfect and Naughty Dog should be forever known as one of the best story telling studios around not only for this but for the Uncharted series as well. I still find the controls stiff but not as bad as the PS3 version and going from the Dualshock 3 to the 4 is a dream come true anyway.
If you haven't played this game, you should. Get it and experience what was voted the best game of the Playstation 3 life cycle. Not my personal favorite but it's still good. It will keep me busy until something else comes out.

The Last of Us Remastered is a remastering of the PS3 title, The Last of Us, a game that has been in critical acclaim.
This port of the original game made for the PS4 runs at a fantastic 1080p 60 frames per second, creating smooth gameplay with an artistic detail that Naughty Dog couldn't achieve on the PS4.
The single player game is simply amazing. The game will tell you the story of Joel, a middle age man who has encountered more than his fair hardships in a post-apocalyptic world. He encounters a girl, Ellie, who may be the key to saving the rest of humanity. We follow these two throughout the game their story is one to experience.
The way they develop and gradually start accepting each other in the game is a testament to how far video game story telling has become.
The gameplay itself is also very smooth. The third-person aiming feels really good as does the stealth approach to combat. Real gameplay enthusiasts can up the ante with a Survivor mode, designed to make the game extremely challenging.
As much as the single player portion is praised, you can't forget about the multiplayer. The multiplayer combat functions the same way as the game, but you are paired with three other players in arenas. The gameplay is tactical and very satisfying. Even today there is a strong multiplayer community.
The Last of Us Remastered also comes with the "Left Behind" DLC that was released months after the original game, giving you more insight into the background of Ellie.
If you choose to buy this game you are in for money's worth and a wonderful treat.

This game is ridiculously good!! It's like you're playing a blockbuster movie! The gameplay is really good too and easy to pick up!! If you're like me I never got a chance to play on my PS3 but was excited to see it redone for the PS4. The graphics are amazing and the story is solid. Plus you get all the downloadable content for free on the remastered version!! It's well worth the $49.99!! And a must have in my opinion.

missed this one in ps3 but deciddd to try it in my ps4 pro. graphics are phenomenal in 4k hdr on my tcl tv. game play is good although the controls seem slightly laggy. overall though the story and presentation of the game are top notch and i would definitely recommend if you haven’t already played it in prior systems.

Okay, so the game isn't actually 100% perfect. But it's pretty close if I do say so myself. There's a few different stances I could take on reviewing this game, but I'm going to take one different from most people.
I could talk about the story, as it is easily the shining star of games. But everybody talks about the story. Just go into this game knowing that it is the most gut wrenching, heart throbbing, touching, wonderful story that you will ever experience in your life. But what really makes this game for me is the little things. When you walk up/down stairs, your characters movements change to look like he's actually walking up stairs. When you walk by other people, the characters actually say convincing dialogue and interact with each other. When you shine your flashlight onto another person, they'll actually cover their eyes. It's awesome. That's what makes this game, is the immersion. This game is brutal. And you feel it. When Joel is defending himself, he'll smash someone's head in, or slam them against the wall. You feel the despair that he feels. You feel the hopelessness, and the extreme actions that you have to take to protect yourself, and Ellie. You know that if you make one wrong move, you won't make it. I know it's just a game, and that you'll just respawn, but that's what is so amazing about this game. It completely sucks you in. You see just how gritty, and dark, and cold that the world is, and you're just doing what you can to try and make the difference.
A Great Story, a must if not previously own on PS3

Purchased this game after purchasing a PS4 after skipping the PS3 generation. Definitely an excellent transition to a new generation and highlights the PS4 with many of DLC packs already included. A great single player story and immersive environment. Nowadays the game may be purchased for less than $15 when on sale, the game play value is worth as much as any new game today!

As stated above, hands down it is the greatest Game I've ever played on Playstation. I'm a pretty hardcore gamer and work in the industry. The story to this game will make you smile, cry, swear, jump, and fall in love with Naughty Dog (the maker). It is exceptional and unforgettable. You will want to play it from beginning to end and most likely a few times through. This game is what converted my hardcore xbox-loving brother to Playstation. And he'll never go back lol. I play all consoles, and to this day I can still say after playing games my whole life, nothing beats The Last of Us. The graphics, gameplay, mechanics, audio, story, and multiplayer will completely change your video game standards if you have played as many games as I. It's a game that every playstation owner should have in their collection. I bought this copy as a second copy in case my original copy ever fails me. I started playing the game on ps3 2 or 3 years ago, and moved on to the ps4. I've played the multiplayer almost everynight for a year. Get this game while you can. It will probably change your gaming life. The only con I can say is, Naughty Dog needs to add more map packs as add-ons for multiplayer and they need to improve the box colliders around the objects so you aren't getting shot while behind cover. Sometimes bullets come through walls when they shouldn't be.

TLOU is one of the most acclaimed games of all time. Does it deserve it? Yes... and no. I personally think the story certainly deserves all the praise it gets. It excels in having characters that we might not like, but can sympathize with at the same time. The suspense is always high, and you never know who you can trust.
HOWEVER, with all the praise this game gets, I will admit that I was expecting the gameplay to be a BIT better and more involved. There are no technical issues to speak of: the PS4 version runs superbly, and this game makes the PS3 version obsolete. It's just that the mechanics in TLOU are a bit simpler than most action/adventure games like Uncharted. But it works as it should, and is still fun. Just know that the story takes the center stage of this game, not the gameplay.
This is especially true for TLOU: Left Behind, the DLC included with the PS4 version. I was actually slightly disappointed with the lack of gameplay in this DLC, but again the story and interactions kept me playing to the end.
The Last of Us, whichever system you get it for, in my opinion has the greatest story in any game, and the ending of The Last of Us will never be topped. Play it if you can.

The story and gameplay are both excellent. This is probably the best version of the game to play to experience it for the first time. Unliked the recent remake, you get the same art style and visual tones as the original PS3 version. But you still get much improved graphics over the PS3 version. Even though it is a PS4 release, it holds up pretty well today.

Great game and great price at the time. Did take a little longer than expected to get due to weather conditions. However was kept in the loop during the whole process. Great purchase and recommend to those looking for a good game to play in the dark.

The last of us is an amazing game. It has breathtaking visuals that hold up even more than a decade later. The story is filled with characters written to break your heart. It's one of the best games I've ever played.

I was late to the party with this game, and it has since been remastered yet again. The price was right, and I was able to snag it on sale for $10. The graphics are great, and the story is phenomenal, as shown in the television series. But at its core, it's a mediocre stealth / cover shooter that doesn't really hold up in present day. It's an essential part of the PlayStation library and should be experience, but your best bet is to go for the PS5 remaster.

For whatever reason I have never played The Last of Us, so I was excited when I saw this go on sale. I’ve always heard about what a good game it was and thought “Eh ok”. Well this game is worth all the hype. I’m really glad that I haven’t watched the show because I feel like it would have ruined the game. If you haven’t played this yet, you’re missing out just like I was.

If you are new to Playstation, or simply been on the fence, well... you really can't go wrong with this one. Current price is $19.99. This has the base game along with the DLC (multiplayer maps + higher difficulty + Left Behind story) included on the disc. If you played the original PS3 version you will absolutely appreciate the upgrade to 60fps and enhanced visuals. It looks better and plays much smoother. Probably even better on the PS4 Pro.
The game can be played with a stealth focus, which I found to be very challenging, or third-person guns blazing... also difficult for me.
Personally I jumped the gun and started this game on the highest difficulty setting: grounded, which offers no HUD and a more intense gameplay experience. Since I'm not much of a multiplayer gamer, the best thing about this game IMHO is the setting/story, so go for easy mode until you feel comfortable changing that.
Do yourself a favor and just go for it. It's iconic and something every PS4 owner should play at least once.
