The much awaited remaster of a highly regarded game has been completed. The game is a survival/zombie themed 3rd person shooter with a very compelling story and believable and interesting characters. It seems that Naughty Dog tends to do well in the story telling department, just like their other franchise, Uncharted. Graphically, you will notice there are some minor visual improvements. The PS3 version was pretty much as good as it gets and you can only do so much more in a remaster. However, the biggest improvement would be that it can run on 60 FPS. And for those who don't want it to run on 60 FPS (for some reason), Naughty Dog had the courtesy of putting in a 30 FPS lock on it. All the DLC content is there (including the extra side story, "Left Behind". This is great for those who have never played this game before and can experience all its holy glory. It's quite cheap now and it's a small little package that offers so much. If you haven't played the game at all, you really need to and should be in everyone's PS4 library. This is a gem that should not be missed.

I know I’m late to playing this game, but I figured after all the hype I needed to play it at some point. I’ll admit, it took me a while to truly get into it, but once I did, I was totally hooked. From a gameplay perspective, The Last of Us challenges you to make logical decisions throughout. However, while the gameplay is good, where this game truly shines is in its story and character development. I felt as if I had a personal relationship with these characters which only grew stronger as the story progressed. I have never cared so much for video game characters as I do for Ellie and Joel. The story is emotionally gripping, and the game does an incredible job creating a human connection between these characters and the player. The quality of the narrative of this game is far beyond any feature film I have seen in recent years. While I was (very) late in picking up this game, I’ll be waiting eagerly to pick up Part 2 on release date.

The Last of Us Remaster for the ps4. The game originally released on the ps3. The biggest difference between the two versions is that the ps4 included nearly all the dlc (includes multiplayer character skins, multiplayer maps, etc), the single player dlc, 60FPS (frames per second), and remastered graphics (better lighting, models, etc). The story for this game is very powerful. You feel like you are part of the adventure of the characters because it really grips you into their world; their struggles. The connection you build with the characters along the way makes you question morals and decisions. Because in the end of the world, sometimes making the right choice is not always the easiest. As far as the game-play goes, the game mechanics is very solid and well done. The guns handle terrifically and fit very well with the setting of the game. Multiplayer is hands down one of the best multiplayer game I have ever played. So do yourself a favor and purchase this game already. You will not regret it.

Story is best in a video game I've ever seen. Gameplay is great in that you never feel safe and you really have to make your shots count, because of limited ammo. Grounded mode is very hard and challenging, but that's how it should be, and it's awesome. I give this game 5 stars. No wonder it was GOTY in 2013!

The story and depth this game gives you is beyond measure for me. You feel the struggle, the depth, the love. You feel the strained but very prevalent bond between Ellie and Joel, two people who came together and formed a type of love that keeps them truly and literally alive. Both games in this series were absolutely incredible for me and I truly hope it's not the actual end of the series. But if it is, I will be happy knowing that its run was absolutely incredible in a way that leaves me thinking about it even while not playing it. This is what most games inspire to be. I would recommend this game, The Last of Us 1 & 2, 100/10. If you don't play it, you're missing out on an incredible story, amazing graphics and a killer game play. Blown away. Breathtaking.

The game is just great. the graphics and attention to detail is outstanding. You fee like you are actually in the game. It does take time to get the hang of the controls, but once you do its sick. The story line is good. I'm on the edge of my seat waiting to see what happens next. A great game!!!!

Uncharted is great but also The Last of Us. The story is just so compelling that you cant look away. It really does a good job making a sad story with some wholesome sweetness from the connection between ellie and joel ,who their actors did a outstanding job at. I have never played a game before with such a good story. And the gameplay its so much fun sneaking around and assassinating clickers, runners, and ugly people while occasionally doing a fun shoot out.

If your household watches the Walking Dead...you will love this game. I am not a big fan of the 3rd person shooters, sneaking, cover system games...however, I played this game all the way through. Just play the intro until you see the title screen "The Last of Us" and you will have goosebumps and will feel lots of emotions. I highly highly recommend playing this game...This shows us what video games should all strive to be. A collaboration of all art. 1) Graphically (was built on PS3, but enhanced for PS4). 2) Music/Sound design is amazing and wonderful to listen to. 3) Gameplay, I do not care for personally, but it is my personal taste here. As far as "did they nail what they were going for?", that answer is an easy "yes". 4) Story....this is where this game shines. Your GF will watch you play this game if she loves walking dead.

I bought the PS4 instead of Xbox One because I had heard such great things about this game and could not be happier. It is very rare that a game turns out exactly the way you want it and this one did. The graphics are amazing, but the (brief) voice acting is absolutely incredible. It's a long game, but I found myself not wanting to play it towards the end, simply because I knew it was almost over. I won't say anything about the ending or the story other than that it is amazing. I went into this game knowing nothing about it, other than that there was a man and a girl. This is how I recommend playing this game - knowing nothing about it beforehand. Do yourself a favor and get this game today. My experience playing it is almost on par with my experience of reading my favorite book of all time: Euphoric elation.

Not sure why I never picked up the game when it first came out but I'm glad that I've waited because now I got to play it on PS4 in all its HD glory. If you are a fan of the Walking Dead TV show, you will enjoy this game tremendously! It really captures the look and feel of a world where you live day to day in desperation and fear. The game itself isn't that long but it stays with you after you've completed it. It really felt more like an interactive movie than a game. The characters are intelligent and well written. The story is fun and entertaining like watching a few episodes of the Walking Dead. And the visuals are impressive. If you haven't played it yet and loves the Walking Dead, do yourself a huge favor and get this game now! You will wish Naughty Dog had made a sequel of this game instead of Uncharted!

The Last of Us was one of the best games of the last generation of consoles. It pushed the PS3 to it's absolute limits graphically and looked astounding, had one of, if not the best story line I've ever encountered in a game, and had an addicting multiplayer. The PS4 version takes everything great about its PS3 predecessor and ups the ante. Not only are the graphics improved, but it runs at a fluidly beautiful 60 frames per second. Just to make sure you didn't forget about the graphics, they also added photo mode, a gameplay capture system that freezes the environment and allows you to take screenshots from all possible angles and includes a filter option. The other thing that makes this a deal breaker is that it comes with the DLC, Left Behind, at no extra cost. The Last of Us Remastered is a perfect game that is invariably worth $60.

    2013's Best Game Enhanced

The Last of Us won awards for a reason: It pushed boundaries of story telling, kept the player tense and as the hours passed, you became more and more concerned for the characters. Very few games have done this, but TLOU did. Now enhanced and feature packed for the PS4, this release is now one of the PS4's must haves, even if you have the original release. Everything has been cleaned up and enhanced and plays in 60 frames per second, which may be distracting for the first few minutes, but you grow to appreciate it. To keep this short and spoiler free, I highly recommend this to any PS4 owner, especially if you missed it on the PS3. This is a prime example as to why the medium of video games can be a great thing and provide something that a smartphone or tablet can't even get close to achieving. Ever.

The Last of Us is truly one of the greatest games of all time. Naughty Dog's ability to get you invested in the characters and immersed in their experiences is astounding. Despite being a game, it achieves heights that only the best movies and TV series are able to reach in terms of story-telling and character development. The graphics were among the best on the PS3, but they are taken up another notch on the PS4. There are scenes that are so well rendered that you simply stop and take it all in. The use of sound is superbly done as well. Gameplay is very solid, but it does require a fair amount of patience and caution as ammo and resources are somewhat limited. I completed the game on the PS3 when it first came out and I'm really glad I am able to experience it again on Sony's next gen platform.

If you owned a PS3 and never owned or played this game, there is something wrong! If you are a gamer that wants a game that looks great, plays suburb, fantastic story line, Oscar winning performances, and just everything, The Last of Us is the game! This game was one of THE main reasons I got a PS3. Then when I heard that they were remastering it for the PS4, I was giddy with joy. You better believe I am buying this, again, for the PS4 to experience this great game! A MUST OWN!

If there was a game that proves gaming can be at the same level as Film when it comes to story telling, elaborate set pieces and non-stop action, The Last of Us is it. Right of the bat, the game pulls you in with its emotional opening. It'll give you plenty of reasons to keep playing to the end. As for the gameplay, I found it to be a bit clunky but in a good way. Fighting enemies feels realistic making you really believe you are fighting for your life yet it doesnt punish you, say like dark souls. At least on Normal. Overall, this game is definitely in my top ten and worth picking up.

The Last of Us Remastered for the PS4 is a re-release of The Last of Us for the PS3, a game which won numerous accolades when it was first released. Given that the writing and story are generally regarded as a high point for this game, I intend to make this review spoiler free. It should also be noted that this game is rated M for Mature. This game is not intended for children or individuals who are offended by gore or harsh language. TLOUR tells the story of of world where the human race is decimated by a parasitic fungal disease that causes physical disfigurement and mental deterioration. Those infected by the parasite eventually lose all sense of themselves and thereafter exist only to spread the parasite to other potential hosts. You play as Joel, who has survived some 20 years in this end of the world scenario as a smuggler of food, clothing, and other supplies. Early in the game, Joel takes on unusual job; rather than smuggling goods, he's asked to smuggle a 14 year old girl named Ellie out of the city, in which they live. In the interest of remaining spoiler free, I will say that you learn more about Ellie and Joel's histories and personalities as the game progress through cutscenes and in-game banter between the characters. You control Joel from the third person perspective as you traverse the apocalyptic landscapes, with Ellie never far behind you. Gameplay includes minor puzzle solving, such as seeing a ledge and scouring the surrounding environment to locate the equipment to reach that ledge; combat, including gunplay, melee, and stealth; and crafting, such as locating the necessary items to create first aid kits or improvised weaponry. Ellie provides assistance both in and out of combat. She may warn Joel of an enemy trying to flank him or she may attack enemies who have overtaken Joel. She will also locate and provide equipment to Joel along the way. The idea of escorting another character for the entire game, gave me pause initially, given the history of escort missions in video games. However, Ellie never felt like a burden. In your quest, you'll face off against infected humans and other survivors. Each enemy type has its own weaknesses and optimal combat strategy. For example, using your firearms may be a last resort, given that ammo is relatively uncommon and firing a weapon could draw more enemies toward you and therefore stealthily dispatching your foes one at a time, or avoiding combat altogether, may be recommended. All three strategies are satisfying and the game makes an effort to let the player to decide which works best for him or her. For my initial playthrough, I played on the Hard difficulty and, while I certainly died, I never felt as though their were any unearned deaths. I learned from each encounter and tried new strategies and equipment after each death. Now why is this called a Remaster? To start, TLOUR includes the previously downloadable-only side story called Left Behind featuring Ellie and a new female character named Riley. Riley, like Ellie, is a teenaged girl and a friend of Ellie's. Left Behind takes place during the main story of TLOUR, but also flashes back to events that occurred prior to the main story and, as such, spoils some portions of the main story and is recommended to be played after completing the main story. TLOUR also includes all of the previously released map packs for the multiplayer mode. The multiplayer mode is not connected to the story and may be played without spoiling anything. The gameplay is similar to the main game, although without the puzzles. Essentially, two teams square off in arenas in attempts to kill one another. Prior to each game, you may choose your character's loadout, which include your weaponry, from pistols to rifles to shotguns, and skills, such as being able to sprint longer distances or providing improved medical treatments to your teammates. Playstation Plus is required to play online. In addition, on the technical side, TLOUR now runs at a native 1080p resolution and an unlocked 60 frames per second, which some occasional dips. More detail has been added to the environments and the characters. As a whole, the game is gorgeous on both a technical level, thanks to these improvements over the original release, and an artistic level, from iconic and sometimes hideous character designs to beautiful and frightening environments. I found TLOUR to be well worth the price of admission. The main story was engaging and well written, in my opinion, and it felt like the right length. If you're looking for solid third person gunplay, it's here. If you're looking for gratifying stealth takedowns, it's here. If you're looking for visceral melee combat, it's here. And for me, the best part was how well all three styles of gameplay complemented each other, unlike many other games where one part of the gameplay is well executed, but others are lacking. Naughty Dog, the creators of TLOUR clearly had a goal and vision and I feel that they met it and I will definitely be checking out their games in future.

This is one of the most immersing game experiences I've ever had. I actually felt as if I had become Joel, trekking through this deadly, near hopeless world, struggling to survive for just one more day. On occasion, this level of immersion is broken, but for the most part, I truly felt like I had stepped into the shoes of the protagonist. His emotions became mine- the frustration, the elation, the horror, the desperation... and the slow, creeping pall of hopelessness in this dark, damaged earth. If you are prone to night terrors or depression, do NOT play this game, because it will alternately terrify you and make you despair for the plight of this lost world. However, if you can handle the mature subjects of the tale, you are in for a real treat, and perhaps the greatest game to ever be produced in the genre of survival horror. Yes, this game is scary, to a level I haven’t felt since the original Silent Hill on PS1. I generally felt powerless in this world and some of the enemies (primarily Clickers and Runners) make my stomach tighten with dread. If you're super hardcore, and you want a REALLY scary experience, I recommend you play on Hard difficulty for your first play-through, because the number of supplies (ammo, med kits, shivs, bombs, etc.) that are available on the Normal difficulty level are far too abundant for players who want a supreme challenge. On the subject of crafting, this is a component of the game that is easy to learn, and fun to engage in. It further puts you into the mindset of Joel, a man desperate for survival, who has learned to salvage at all available opportunities. Slowly tuning up my weapons was also a lot of fun, though Joel is but a pale imitator compared to his rival protagonists (Nathan Drake, Marcus Fenix, etc.) in other games (but this is a good thing, for it feels realistic, and fits with the tone of the piece). Joel's wobbly aim, perpetual shortage of ammo, and rather sluggish speed make him feel like a real, middle-aged guy who has learned to survive in a dangerous world, not some superhuman who handles everything with grace. The stealth aspect is also handled brilliantly, and engaging in it is extremely satisfying. This stealth system is a perfect evolution of that which was established in the Metal Gear Solid series (particularly #2), utilizing a great visual cone and audio circumference for your enemies, which must be studied for vulnerabilities and exploited at every possible opportunity. Determining how to approach each new challenge (lots of trial and error will be involved), and how to successfully clear an area of enemies (generally without being detected, as ammo and health are so limited) is really fun. These challenges become "3D puzzles" in a way, as you must use your noggin to break down enemy patterns and AI reactions, with the added tension of knowing that it only takes one slip-up to result in failure - and these enemies really do make you feel the fear. Visually speaking, this game is remarkable, even by next gen standards. The improved graphics of the Remastered edition are immediately apparent to those who of us who played The Last of Us on PS3. Resolutions are incredibly detailed, but even more effective is the silky smooth frame rate. The attention to detail is simply staggering, and it all comes together to further enhance the emotional impact of this unforgettable experience. Gameplay is always more important than graphics in my book, but it certainly helps convey the emotions of the characters when everything looks this darned good. The Last of Us is like nothing else. It is, quite frankly, an exhausting experience, one that left my mind reeling with the consequences of my fascinating journey, and the unbreakable bonds I had formed with Ellie and Joel - two fictitious characters who seem unshakably real. I just can’t forget about them, and I can’t forget about what we’ve been through together. It’s not just their story, it’s OUR story. We are family, struggling to survive in a dangerous world. We are the last of us.
