Well worth watching this although a little off beat

If you aren't familiar with the general conceit, about 2% of the world's population suddenly disappears. You will not get an answer as to why in this first season, but what you will get is an incredible drama dealing with the lives of those left behind in the small town of Mapletown, NY. How do you pick up when your town, your friends, your family, has been devastated by an unexplainable tragedy that may have religious implications? How do you put society back together when there are people who seemingly want to pull it apart? This is a fantastically written, well acted story that is worth watching. Just don't expect answers to the "what happened," question.

Initially, I was disappointed that this series spent no time explaining why millions of people disappeared from the face of the Earth. But as the episodes progressed, the characters become more engrossing and the interesting stories grabbed my attention so I craved more episodes. Since one of the Lost writers is involved, the story similarities are similar. Just be warned that the show always creates more questions than it answers (and it doesn't answer too many) so that may turn some people off.

The Leftovers isn't an easy watch... it's sad, it's somber, it's serious, and it's heavy. It's also an experience you will never forget. This first season sets the tone for the journey the final two will take you on, and it's beautiful, in its acting, its direction and its writing. A pure gem that is criminally underappreciated. Give this show a chance, it more than deserves it, and you'll be more than happy you did.

I am pleased with the services that Best Buy provided for me. I purchased these 2 items with a $100.00 gift card that my Dad got me for my Birthday. I purchased the Leftovers after seeing season 2 advertised in an email. Wow, what a crazy show! We actually binge watched this dvd over a course of three nights. I wish it was more than just ten episodes, but it was a great series regardless! 2% of the world disappears one day and the people left behind have to face why....an excellent season!

A friend recommended this. I purchased never seeing or hearing about this show. Once I started the first episode, I could not stop. I binged over three nights. One of the better dramas on television. Since I do not subscribe to HBO or HBO To Go, I must wait until it is released on Blu Ray or DVD to keep up.

The Leftovers is a huge satisfying mystery, slowly unveiling itself over the first season episodes. Leaning toward a rapture event that is taken a portion of the population, some good, some bad. No rhyme or reason to why some were taken or why. Those not taken are The Leftovers! Beware!

Looks, sounds, and plays smoothly and takes advantage of 16:9 ratio of your widescreen tv without stretching and cutting off parts of the show. If you know the show and enjoy it then the purchase is worth the price. Includes ULTRAVIOLET Digital Copy as well

Season 2 is one of the finest series ever shown on television. Unfortunately you have to see Season 1 first to understand what's going on. Season 1 is much bleaker and darker, so prepare to get depressed. Still, it is very well written and acted. Just bleak.

The show is about a world where 2% of the earth's population vanished and how the rest of the people deal with losing their friends and family. The show has a slow start but it worth sitting through to see the excellent 2nd season.

Wow one of the most confusing series i have ever watched! but its so addicting to see what happens next. Great acting but the usual HBO swearing! Never scratched my head this much watching a series. A real head scratcher!

I am so sad that the series is ending .. a truly amazing show with intense emotion and beautiful yet heartbreaking storylines. I will watch these episodes more than once in the years to come.

So far I like this show. It has some bumpy moments but I'm being patient because I read all the time that it goes from good to great in season two. I want to be up to speed before starting season two.

Great acting and production. The story has some hidden layers of meaning if you watch thoughtfully.

Blu Ray was easy to locate in store. Lots of extra features. Best Buy also price matched my purchase. Looking forward to buying The Leftovers Season Two. Highly recommended show to watch.

Do yourself a favor if you like a slow burn. Makes you think and feel. This is a great series too bad it will only be a three season run, but fortunate that we at least are getting 3.

If love mind games and heart pounding thrillers you'll love this show. You feel for the people that lost love ones then wonder why things are the way they are? I love this show.

The leftovers is the best of the best. One of the greatest new television shows that has ever aired. Bold and risky. The first and best of its kind. I highly this show.

I watched the show based on a suggestion from a friend and I was blown away from the first episode. I can't wait to watch season 2, which I hear is even better.
