It played how I remember A Link to the Past, just with improved graphics! Admittedly the game feels easier than ALttP, but hero mode makes up for it!

Awesome game any person can play and enjoy. Controls are solid, music great, graphics crisp. Lots of content for your money. No added costs of dLC.

Every Legend of Zelda game is amazing. Fun puzzles, fun combat, and great story. This one is no different. If you like Zelda, you'll like this game.

This game is the reason I bought a 3DS, and it is worth it. Excellent game play and story. Exactly what I want from Nintendo. Highly recommend.

Modern Zelda game that plays like a classic

Much more enjoyable Zelda handheld game than previous entires Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks, as it drops the clumsy stylus for the classic feel of buttons. Takes place in the same Hyrule as A Link to the Past, which is both good and bad. Good in that it its reminiscient, and makes you smile to see things that harken back to the earlier game. Bad in that its perhaps too similiar, so you know where all the dungeons are/will be too early in the game, and secret holes are in the same place as before, so some of the adventuring is lost in that you're not seeing a different enough overworld. Fortunately the dungeons themselves are all new, even if they are in the same place as before. A little ont he easy side the first time through, but there's a Hero Mode for those that want a new challenge after beating the game that works the same way as Skyward Sword (no recovery hearts anywhere in the world, meaning you'll have to rely on potions and faeries only.)
Sadly, the online play isn't that great: a mirror version of an opponent is downloaded to your 3DS/2DS that you can fight against. But it seems ot happen much too rarely; I only got 2 oppoonents during my playthrough. One opponent every few days just isn't frequent enough to bother.
3DS recommended but should be playable on 2DS without a terrible loss of perspective.

As a huge fan of the Link to the Past, I had high expectations for this game...and I was not disappointed in the least. It felt like the perfect modern follow up to what may be the greatest Zelda game of all time. Just enough new mechanics and areas to make it feel fresh, and I got about 30 hours of playtime before reaching the ending (though I did do every sidequest/collectible). Immediately started the second of what will be many playthroughs.
Bottom line: If you have a 3DS, you need to own this game.

This game is so entertaining. I found this game to be a bit more enjoyable than some Zelda games that I have played. The game is structured, but yet it allows for the player to roam about and explore. this game is bound to keep you busy for a while. There's plenty to do and plenty of places to explore. The game play is different when it comes to shifting in and out of walls and other areas, but that is what makes it fun and so enjoyable. I'm only sorry that I did not buy this title sooner.

I didn't think I would like it. I played Zelda on the Old NES and even on the Gameboy Advance, but never got into it. Then I thought after looking at the reviews that I should give it another try. Boy was I happy I did. Link moves so fast and fluidly on the 3DS. The puzzles are really challenging! Overall just a wonderful game. I don't know if I will try Ocarina of Time or Majora's Mask because of how different they are from this. This will be the standard I judge all Zelda games by.

This is a amazing remake with stunning graphics and updated story. Everything about the game is amazing. I know it is a remake but with the new merging with walls idea that is used a lot it just makes everything seem so fresh. Bringing you're childhood to a new generation for you're kids to enjoy. Great game.

As a fan of the Zelda series, it's easy to get caught in the rut of the same game formula that all Zelda games seem to follow. However, Link Between Worlds finally breaks that formula. You are able to obtain all the weapons from the beginning of the game and do the dungeons in any order, which makes no two adventures the same. This is one of the most beautiful games on the 3DS and is easily one of my favorite Zelda games of all time!

The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds is simultaneously nostalgic and fresh. It revamps the Zelda series by stripping away the linearity found in recent games. It allows the player to play the game in whatever order they choose. This adds a tremendous amount to the sense of freedom that this franchise is known for. This game uses the same map layout from A Link to the Past and boasts a similar artstyle, but don't be confused; this is not a remake. The item rental system along with the ability to transform into a painting and sidle across walls elavate this game beyond the constraints of a remake. The dungeons are all new and the fast-travel system makes this game a delight. I love this game so much. My one gripe with it is that it is rather easy but that is not enough of complaint to hold me back from recommending this game fully. The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds is one of the best games in the series.

Bough this game as a holiday gift for my brother. We are huge Zelda fans and regularly buy any of the new games that come out on the market. As always they are fun and unique to themselves. Some of the best Nintendo content there is to offer.
A Link Between Worlds keeps up the high standard that we have come to love with this franchise. The game play is clean and vibrant on the 3DS. Our only true gripe was that it is very much so a remake of the original title A Link To The Past. Now that being said there are some differences in characters and equipment, but very very similar overall. On the whole it still made for an enjoyable game play. We both did wish that the game was slightly more in depth creating a longer and more challenging play through. Was able to complete within a weekends play through.
All said and done this game will still deliver to those dedicated to the franchise as well as those looking to pick it up for the first time.

This may be the best original handheld Zelda game (excluding ports such as OoT or MM remakes) to date. I will say that you do not have had to play A Link to the Past to enjoy this game, there are some subtle references to other games in the series and the ALBW does take place in the same map as ALTTP but that does not stop you from enjoying this game immensely. If you don't own it yet, buy it now.

At first glance it is easily compared to Link to the Past, however, this Zelda game changes things up quite a bit. No longer do you have to work your way up, you can now buy or rent anything you may think you need to take on the quest's ahead of you. You go at this game at your own pace and however you want to. Give it a try. This game is a vision of great things to come.

I didn't expect Link Between Worlds to hold up to the game it was based on, A Link to the Past, but this game was a very fun playthrough!
I was honestly surprised playing through this game for how fun it was. It's about how like the gaming community was iffy about Wind Waker for the Gamecube a while back; it was questioned then, but is considered one of the best games now.

I still love playing A Link To The Past and have it on my Game Boy Advance. It was a pleasant surprise to see how this game is a sequel, taking place long enough in the future for the original story to be a legend. I love that it takes place in the same world, yet had different changes to the landscape since that time. Definitely a very enjoyable game.

So, largely thanks to the Game Grumps, I recently replayed A Link to the Past. Of course I had to follow it up with this. And let me tell you, it's everything I wanted it to be. It's rare to see a LoZ game that's a proper sequel, but A Link Between Worlds is, and it aces it. It's a glorious return to a classic formula, and I'm loving every second of it.
