I loved The Magnificent Seven [Includes Digital Copy] [Blu-ray] [2016].

I purchased for a gift. I have not seen this movie. The price was great.

A lot of overacting, but still worth the watch. Thought original movie and cast was better

While I never got into Hollywood's original Magnificent Seven film series, I've always enjoyed it's inspiration, The Seven Samurai. This modernization was a lot of fun too, well worth the undertaking, IMHO. A couple of my guests were a little dismayed by all the swearing, for a PG13 film. It didn't bother me like it does them, but it's easy to understand their concern. Combined with the proliferation of not just violence, but death, it's hard to imagine how this didn't earn an R. I've seen far tamer films with an R rating. I wouldn't say the film has the depth and heart of The Seven Samurai. Still, I think everyone enjoyed it, as a more popcorn update for younger audiences and those who haven't come to appreciate black and white, much less having to read their movies. Glad Best Buy still had some steelbooks available when it finally went on sale. This is a nice one. It's also impressive to see Best Buy's savvy enough to offer steelbook packaging for many UHD BD releases so soon. They're doing better than any other retailer in terms of UHD support. Kudos for that.

Early good movie, better than expected, would reccomend to others

I have watched the original Magnificent Seven and really enjoyed it. I did not watch it before going to this version. When it came out on DVD I watched both and was really amazed at how much of the dialogue from the original made it into the re-make. Having said all that, this is a really good stand alone movie. You can easily watch it without ever seeing the original. The actors and the director did a great job of making this one their own. There is much more ethnic diversity in this one. The under stories of the characters is more clear. Not so much to muddy the original story line but just enough to add flavor. Plus, the dialogue in the new one is better. However don't go in expecting huge character arcs or any kind of unique epiphany. What you see is what you get with the characters. This is just a really good taking on "the man" against incredible odds movie.

Action packed and great visuals, was a great purchase for a few bucks.

Up there with Tombstone and Young Guns! Finally another great western!

I saw the original Magnificent Seven when I was about 8 years old. It has been a favorite of mine since then. I have seen many remakes that did not meet up to the quality of the original. Can you say ''Psycho?" The 2016 Magnificent Seven is not one of them. It is a bit different from the original, but keeps the basic plot. A bunch of loaner misfits that take a stand for those who can not stand up for themselves. Movie has good acting, plenty of action, and a touch of humor much like the original. There are characters you care about. They are similar to the original "seven" but do not mirror them exactly which makes this movie even more fun to watch. Updated for todays audiences, I highly recommend this version of the Magnificent Seven and if you haven't seen the original, check it out too. Keep in mind, they are both based on a classic Japanese Samurai movie from the 1950's.

I Love westerns and Chris Pratt is in it! A plus on both accounts!
