This is a great story of how A Christmas Carol was conceived and written. It tells of Charles Dickens life, his relationship with his father, and his redemption of his past ghosts that haunted him. I highly recommend watching this before watching A Christmas Carol. This movie puts many of the characters from A Christmas Carol into context. This movie showed that Christmas was no longer celebrated and how the theme behind A Christmas Carol restored it to a celebration of giving to others.

This film shows how 19th century London treated Christmas and each other. I love watching the movies and reading the story A Christmas Carol and always wondered how Charles Dickens came up with the story. This movie is fiction, but you feel you come to understand him. It is a wonderful movie of an author who pulled his characters feelings and ideas from real life.

If you love any or all of the A Christmas Carol versions available, if you've read the book which is a masterful tale then you need to see this film. There's a lot to learn about how the book came into existence and how different the holiday was look upon. Quite fascinating stuff. And it's a wonderful look into the workings of the creative mind.

It's a shame that this did not get more publicity to see it in the theaters and that Best Buy is not selling this in their stores. This was by far the best movie I saw last year - and even though it has a Christmas type theme - it can be seen at anytime of the year. It is that good.

There are countless A Christmas Carol adaptations so if you are a little wary of this film being another one of those, don't be. It is told in such a way where it adds a spin as Dickens himself becomes part of the story he is desperately trying to wright. Makes for a very good film as his characters converse and come alive before him. Highly recommended.

WOW!!! This is a really true Christmas story about the author of Christmas, Charles Dickens. It tells the story of a writer and the strugles he goes thru to put in written word the story of Christmas. Child friendly, should be one for the ages

I was looking to add to my Christmas collection when I spotted this movie. It is a great addition. The movie takes you into Dickens' head when he is trying to write a Christmas story. The characters all speak to him-- great stuff!

I decided to purchase this title only because the Black Friday price was really good and it's Christmas related. Well, I'm glad I did! the movie is really good and tell us the story of one of the most well known Christmas Tales of all times! Definitely becoming a must watch every Christmas!

This is one of my new holiday classics to watch. The movie is FANTASTIC. Learned things about Charles Dickens that I never knew before. There were so many "aha!" moments during it. Great fun for all.

Really enjoyed the way this movie was written and portrayed. We all know the Christmas carol as it plays many times over the holidays. This movie took us into the the author and how he conceptualized the characters and the the book.

This history can be another classic for every Christmas Eve I recommend this movie.

Must have if you like " A Christmas Carol". This movie is about Charles Dickens & how he came up with that book. I like to watch it first then watch A Christmas Carol. I found it very interesting. I think it's a must have for Christmas.

I really enjoyed this movie about how Charles Dickens created A Christmas Carol. Dan Stevens and the rest of the cast are excellent in their portrayals of Mr. Dickens, his family and "friends" who helped him write his most famous work.

ok movie nothing great worth a watch just once thats it

I saw this movie in the theatre and it was excellent. Had to purchase it in order to have as part of our Christmas movie collection. One of my favorite movies for Christmas time and my son's (10 yr old) too!

Excellent movie! We are always looking for movies to add to our collection, which is difficult to do. This one is clean. and funny. Very entertaining!

I have to watch this a couple times a year at least. It is an amazing story about Charles Dickens, Christmas and everything wonderful. It's magical and charming.

The movie was a nice holiday treat with an imaginative way to tell how Dickens was inspired, at least with a bit of reference to actual history, to writing A Christmas Carol....very good actors especially Christopher Plummer as Scrooge.
