Another one of the great classics from one of my favorite directors....Sir Alfred Hitchcock. Amazing presentation of a another Criterion title worth viewing simply for the stunning transfer they had given us. The extras are worth it as well including: New high-definition digital restoration, with uncompressed monaural soundtrack on the Blu-ray edition New audio commentary featuring film historian Philip Kemp New interview with filmmaker Guillermo del Toro The Illustrated Hitchcock, an extensive interview with director Alfred Hitchcock from 1972, conducted by journalist Pia Lindstrom and film historian William Everson Audio excerpts from filmmaker François Truffaut’s legendary 1962 interviews with Hitchcock Restoration demonstration PLUS: A booklet featuring an essay by critic Farran Smith Nehme Highly Recommended!!!

The performance by slithery character actor Peter Lorre who turns in a maniacal performance as the films villain makes it worth seeing. The components are pure Hitchcock in every sense.

This is a brisk, enjoyable early Hitchcock thriller. Peter Lorre is a standout in what I believe was his first English language film. The extras are incredible on this Criterion edition. Very highly recommended!
