Overall - Good Game. However...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'd like to preface this by saying this is by no means a dig, or a bad thing about the game. But it's really more of an 'interactive' movie than a video game. Let me try to explain... The story is good. The visuals, awesome. But you watch more than you play. And when you do play it's not challenging. You play in order to get to the next chapter of the story. That's it. When it's finished, the credits roll, and it's over. There is no going back, there's nothing left to do. Which again, is fine by me and I enjoyed my time with it. But now it goes on my movie shelf that I'll most likely not touch again, unless a friend wants to try it out. You can decide for yourself if this is a pro or con for a video game... Everyone plays for different reasons.

Amazing Graphics/ Interesting story/ Too Short
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game features some truly amazing graphics and voice acting. The story is interesting and worth getting to the end of. That said, I just wish the game wasn't so short and that it wasn't all cutscenes with the occasional game play sequence. This game is similar in vain to Heavy Rain and Beyond Two Souls but lacks the sense of freedom that those other titles offer. Overall this is one very cinematic game that could pass for a movie and thats not a bad thing. It's worth checking out.

why the hate? this game is great!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm never listening to critic reviews again This game is fantastic. The best graphics of any video game out. The story is awesome Victorian era London, you play the knight galahad and battle werewolves. The gameplay gun wise is similar to gears of war cover shooting. It's almost like playing a movie. The thing people have been complaining about is game length, granted it's not a 59 hour rpg but it's a solid 10 hour game. No one complained about the resident evil series or heavenly sword which can be beat in hours. Now granted I docked a star for no multiplayer and the pacing leaves something to be desired but overall I loved it and will be buying the sequel

Lacks any extra gameplay
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. While it has great graphics and a compelling story this game is missing some stuff. For one thing, the campaign length is short (beatable in one sitting). Another thing, beyond the campaign it is devoid of pretty much all other content. If the story wasn't this cool retro 1886 time with future weaponry I would give this game a one star maybe. The short length of the campaign kills the game. If I haven't already mentioned that enough. Beautiful graphics do redeem it somewhat. It is definitely not a game that is worth more than $25. It is an extremely fun game to play with a bright future ahead of it if the developers decide to create a sequel.

Great game but lacks substance
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Order: 1886 is a great game, no question. The action is solid, the world is intriguing, and the presentation is flawless. Load times are virtually non-existent in this game, which is surprising considering how beautiful the environments and graphics are. However, it is clear that presentation was given priority over content. There is little gameplay offered here beyond the most basic third-person shooting action. While the world looks rich and detailed, the player interacts with it very little. Enemies are very generic, as is the game's progression. But what is there is fun to play, and the amazing visuals and setting make it all worth while.

A very solid single player experience
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I enjoyed my time through the story of this game. The reviews online did not quite do the game justice in my opinion as the game plays well and keeps you engaged in the story. The game may be a slight bit short, but unless you rush through the game, you'll get a decent amount of time in it before you reach the end. It'll be different for everyone, but my experience was 8-9 hours. The story does kind of end abruptly, so it either feels unfinished or intentionally left open for a sequel. Overall, I would recommend this to people that enjoy story-driven, third-person action adventure games.

Stunning graphics on rail third person shooter.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had such high hopes for this game as I have been following it for almost 2 years during development. The graphics are top notch and surpass any other game out at the moment. The setting and atmosphere were great but unfortunately you can't really explore much of it as the game forces you to use the chosen path. I hope you like quick time events because regardless of what the developers claimed there are a lot of them. Over all I would recommend to wait on a price drop on this since the game only received mediocre reviews you should be able to pick it up half off soon.

Great graphics and interesting story but...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like The Order 1886 as an overall game experience, but it definitely lacked gameplay to match the story and graphics. A lot left to be desired because there were so many interesting concepts and weapons that lack supporting gameplay. This game has a design identity crisis because it doesn't seem to know what type of gameplay it wants to fully offer. Get bits and pieces of everything but nothing truly stands out. The balance between platform moments and action is uneven and combination of both is non-existent. Those platform type moments just seemed like time fillers. There a lot of Quick Time Event (QTE) type button prompts as well for a TPS. Stealth/sneak mode is based on level and not something that can be done from the get go which is understandable as a design choice. This game never really does anything great gameplay wise. The simple linear level design and gameplay doesn't help it's overall value. It almost seems like the developer should have just created a CG movie instead of game. Not quite as bad as MGS4 in terms of gameplay to cutscene ratio but not balanced either like TLOU or Uncharted 1 & 2. The graphics were pretty and the story was interesting but with average gameplay at best or not enough of it. I hope the developers aren't saving their best for a threequel because that game might never happen if a sequel doesn't improve a lot in the gameplay department.

Great Game But falls short on Gameplay
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First, the good the graphics were as expected it is a beautifully created game. The protagonist is a well rounded character and the story line is interesting and keeps the player hooked. Now the bad the game was dreadfully short, you could basicly finish in 2 day or 1 if you really grind. Also I was highly anticipating the game because of the creative weaponry that was advertise. However, there are only two real special weapons all other weapons are normal - realistic guns. And it ends with a cliff hanger leaving it open for a sequel.

A beautiful game
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Order is by far the most gorgeous game on the PS4. The world is interesting as well as the characters. It's a very cinematic experience which can be both a good thing and a bad thing. The weapons are al well designed and fun to use however in between the action there's a lot of talking and walking. It's a solid foundation for what could turn into a great series if they get a chance at a sequel. Might not be worth $60 to some but your on best buy and should have GCU buy the game it's worth it in my opinion.

Few flaws, otherwise great
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Many people hate on this game due to the length. Yes, you can beat it in 6ish hours. However, many graphical beauties like this are generally short. Gears of War was similar. It's just the lack of multiplayer that eliminates the replay-ability. However, I found the story very intriguing. The only issue I have is... *POSSIBLE SPOILER* The cut off ending... lot of unanswered questions and/or closure. They definitely left it opened for a sequel, however, it has been announced there will be no sequel.

Amazing graphics, not much replay value, ok story
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The graphics in this game are amazing. It feels like you are playing through a CG movie. There is more than one time that a cut-scene finished that I didn't even realize it was done and waited for more to happen, then realized that gameplay had resumed. The game uses heavy motion blur to achieve its effects - I did find this disorienting when turning the camera quickly at first (as you'll see the background blur just like in a movie), but got used to it after the first hour of playing. The game plays similar to Gears of War with a cover system that allows you to hide behind the many convenient areas of cover in the battle arenas. There is not nearly as much fighting as Gears has though, as many parts of the game feature you walking through areas, oftentimes as your character Galahad talks to one of the other main characters. The levels have some secrets hidden in them (newspapers and other trinkets that relate to the story, as well as a Sackboy), but are pretty constrained and it's hard to get lost. I got this game on launch but traded it back in after completion (it took about 7-8 hours to beat, mostly on Normal with Aim Assist off. Hard mode provides a good challenge). There is little replay value without a New Game Plus mode, and all cutscenes are unskippable. The Arsenal DLC lets you select a couple alternate costumes but didn't do much for me.

A Cool Story and Great Atmosphere, Little Else
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really liked the game despite its many shortcomings in the gameplay department. It has a good story, amazing atmosphere and graphics, and stellar voice acting. The problem is that the actual gameplay is extremely limited. It's a cover based shooter with not much open space at all. It's essentially 'stand behind this bookshelf while enemies flood in through a door.' There's not much room for strategy, not even something as limited as "maybe I can attack from the side." It's as straight ahead as could be. There are a couple quick stealth areas and quick time events breaking this up, but it's extremely limited. There are two instances where you fight lycan, but they play out exactly the same (X to dodge, blast them while they're running away, finish them off by pushing triangle). There are also two boss fights in the entire game, and they literally play the EXACT same way. I still enjoyed it. But, you need to know that you're into what the game is dishing out, which is a better-than-most story, graphics, and characters, and sub-par gameplay with little reason to ever go back after your 7-hour play through.

A visual masterpiece that needs more replay value
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is one of the most beautiful games on any new generation console. The Order: 1886 has a very high attention to detail throughout the game. Everything from the lighting to the fabric animations, to even the textures and how they look like they would in the year 1886. The setting is an alternate 1886 Victorian London and it feels very atmospheric. The gameplay is also rock solid with absolutely no bugs and glitches that ive encountered. Great weapons like the Thermite Rifle and Arc Rifle as well as other explosive weapons. The story is very good and intriguing. The only downfall of this game, is that there is not much to do after you beat the game. There are trophies you can go for, find all the collectables, and play through the different difficulty settings, but that's about it. There are no extra game modes, multiplayer, co-op, or even the ability to upgrade your Blacksight ability or weapons. For what Ready at Dawn has done The Order, I think they have succeeded, spending a big chunk of time creating one amazing game engine to power this beautiful game, now they know what they would need to work on for a possible sequel. Pros: Absolutely gorgeous visuals, solid gameplay, great story, attention to detail is breathtaking Cons: Needs co-op, needs replay value

Enjoyable story-driven game
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. You need to know that the Order: 1886 is half interactive movie and half game. The gameplay is fairly rudimentary by today's standards. There are a lot of Quick Time Events and button prompts. This is offset, however, by fantastic storytelling, characters, voice-acting, and the best graphics available on any console. If you're ok with this kind of game going in, then you are likely to enjoy the experience as I did.

Quick game but awesome
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great game, it took me about 7 to 8 hours to beat. It is an easy platinum trophy as well definitely worth a playthough for any ps4 gamer out there awesome graphics and voice acting. Story is good but feels more like a lead into a sequel instead of its own story. Only issue is that there really is no replay value and IMO the platinum is too easy you don't even have to play the game on hard to get it.

Better then expected
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Many say this game is too short and unoriginal but I disagree. Its about 8 hours long which I think is a decent time and the graphics in this game are absolutely beautiful. Its your fun of the mill third person shooter but thats fine because I thought the story was engaging and the guns were fun. I would say give this game a try because I liked it a lot and wouldn't mind a sequel.

Fun 3rd person shooter, but short
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I enjoyed the game. Definitely confusing to start as not much is explained to you, and the slow movement of the character will make some people never make it far enough to discover the story. But the story is great and the gunplay is fun. I hope the third person shooter continues to be popular, I enjoy the storytelling done that way more than in a FPS. Graphics are unbelievable.

Solid Interactive Movie but not worth $60
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Order 1886 is disappointing from a game standpoint but very entertaining as an interactive movie. The graphics, story, sound, and voice acting are all superb however the gameplay is very standard fare. Far too often does the game relinquish control to you from a lengthy cutscene (upwards of 15 min) only to rip it away after a very brief action sequence (maybe 5 min) to throw you into another cutscene. the blending of cutscene to gameplay back to cutscene is a smooth one, but far too often, you are watching The Order 1886 as opposed to playing it. A solid experience, especially if you are a fan of werewolves and vampires, but can not recommend at the current price point of $60. If you can rent, it is a must.
