This movie(in particular the concept of an annual purge-where you can get away with anything) is truly creepy and the film critics are piling on about how it mainly focuses on a family..instead of a macro view-not true! the film integrates the larger impact with many audio/video clips of purge "cable/CNN" news type footage.

You can't do better than the original. With all of the sequels being pretty mediocre, this one wins for having originality and creating the whole concept of a national purge day.

Not a bad movie, but should have rented, probably won't watch it again. A fairly obvious twist at the end and relatively anticlimatic. Story was kind of interesting, but wish the writers had done a little bit more with it.

I loved this film. It does well on it's own with a unique, imaginitive storyline. I viewed the film as a great violent satire on modern society. The plot is believable to me knowing the nature of human beings but knowing this story will never step out of bounds of films and into reality. Blu-ray seemed fine. No problems with quality of dvd at all.

Heard the idea of what the movie was about, expected just a "no story" shooting movie, it was great! We accidentally watched part 2 first and loved it! You could watch part 2 first and totally get the story line.

I loved this movie in theaters, and the event they had at Halloween horror nights. So when I was looking for a new bluray, I figured I should own this film. Set in fhe near future, one night a year all crime is legal. Blessed be our new founding fathers, blessed be America, a nation reborn, blessed be the purge!

I was pretty engrossed in the movie when I saw it in the theater. More of a thriller than a horror movie, but there is a message too. A story that wad ahead of its time.

Family man who makes a living selling home security finds himself a victim of his own success in a yearly free for all called The Purge. It's a horrid, bloodthirsty movie, more real than Night of the Living Dead without the zombies. I found it shocking in that i couldn't turn it off making myself too a participant in the wanton killing. Strangely the younger children in the family and the trapped homeless stranger were the ones to show sense and compassion. By the movie's end I felt dirty just for watching it.

It's a good action movie but a little hard to watch being that it's unrealistic. It gets you upset when you see the wrong decisions this family makes like from a typical horror scene.

The Purge will keep you on the edge of your seat from the beginning until the end of the film with twists and turns that you won't expect. A first rate thriller that is creepy.

Entertaining movie and was a interesting take on economic issues. The movie plays well and characters are portrayed well and don't seem fake.

Pretty good movie. Its just the thought of that really Happening has just made me think about things too much,lol. Good to watch with a few friends. No problems with the DVD at all.

I really liked the storyline of this movie! The main reason I did was because it's unique and original. It was scary to think that this could actually happen in America and I still thought it was a great movie. The DVD was in excellent shape when I purchased it.

Well, its time to act without laws. A fine movie that is a little predictable. That being said, it should keep you interested for the length of the movie.

I loved it, the plot and characters were great. It definitely makes you questions a lot things with the government and society. Great to add to your horror movie collection.

I love the idea of the movie and felt they could have done so much more with it. It was still very scary and kept you on the edge of your seat for the entire movie.

The movie had a lot of good action, I enjoyed the scary parts of the film. The girl was mostly believable, however there could have been more parts for her to develop.

This was an interesting concept to explore in a movie. How much are we willing to sacrifice our values to live in a world that is safer (for some)?

Watching this original movie by James Demonaco, grew into a three movie and continuing franchise of murder , mayhem , blood splatter , all sponsored legally by the government . You've got 24 hours to let loose and no consequences at all. Enjoy.

Very interesting theme for a movie. A night where crime is legal!! Total havoc ensues. Not one of my favorites but still a good movie to watch.
