We have this thing in this culture. We take a young actress and we put her in a Horror Flick. The idea is to get the empathy of the young audience. The girls scream. The guys are sympathetic. And almost everyone on the screen dies. This is a typical horror flick. A group of young people, always attractive, of course, goes off into the wilderness despite common sense. And, as is usual, they meet something much bigger than they are, something scary. When these worked they were funny. When they don't work they are usually still funny. This one really isn't all that scary. All of the ideas come from other films, they're just transplanted to the Mayan peninsula because that's where a lot of young people now hang out due to the liberal drinking age. In case this is your cup of deadly biological element I won't reveal the machinations that bring us to a quicker than usual conclusion.

I have to say that the plot of the movie is original and somewhat compelling, but the movie itself lacks environment. Over half the movie the characters are trapped in one spot which doesn't provide for alot of entertainment. Still, there were some parts that left you cringing which is good for any horror flick.

I liked this movie, it was very good. I just think they could have done a better job with the graphics and sounds from the plant monsters.

this movie was a different kind of horror movie. yes it was a ok movie with new actors, but the scenes in the unrated version were to much for many people to watch. this would be a great family movie to sit down and watch, hahahah. jk

You think it's going to be good and it is up to the point where you find out what is killing them. That part is a let down. Still it had some good actors in it.

The Ruins was interesting at times, gory at times, but not a spectacular horror movie. It was just kind of there the rest of the time.

I thought the movie was going to be scary but it wasn't at all the concept was good but the actors were okay but I thought the movie was filmed inside the ruins but thru the whole movie they were on top and not enough action on the inside of the ruins. very dissapointed

This is one of my favorite horror film. A must see!
