If you're looking for simple chords, memorable riffs, and melodic choruses as heard on the hits "How You Remind Me" and "What Are You Waiting For?", then turn away. There is none of that here. Instead, this record focuses on grunge, and was written before the band developed the goal of becoming the biggest Canadian act since Rush. The closest thing to the band's later work on this record is the rock radio semi-hit, "Leader Of Men", even though the song features no chorus. Although the album carries a similar style to "Curb", it also begins to show signs of Nickelback's heavier side, evident on "Old Enough" and "Breathe". Don't be fooled by the title of "Cowboy Hat". It's not country. With it's raw production and swampy, funky riffs, the album is far from perfect, but is definitely the best of the band's first three albums.

Nickleback is one of those bands that seems to be able to write great new music with each album they put out.

One of their early albums which not many know of. It's got a more personal feeling.

I cant say much but my wife loves em. Bought the album just to replace a lost one.

They had one good song on the album. Just buy it on itunes.
