My all-time favorite Horror Sci-Fi movie. No CGI, but outstanding special effects. The level of distrust and paranoia are well played in Carpenter’s masterpiece.

I bought this in store but had a great experience. The workers there were really nice. The 4k is in great condition. The 4k looks great honestly no complaints.

I opted for the Best Buy exclusive SteelBook, which is great. But the real star of the show here is the excellent 4K presentation of The Thing. I have owned every US release of this film since the original DVD, which was not anamorphic widescreen. I own the Scream Factory releases, including the SteelBook with the 4K scan on 1080p Blu-ray and while that 4K source was the best we had seen thus far, this 4K disc with wide color and HDR presents the best version of the film yet. The colors look accurate and the image has more depth and realism...yes, even with the practical effects. One might expect that the effects could show their age, but instead, they look more grotesque and authentic than ever. This will be the definitive way to experience The Thing. This release comes with a new DTS:X audio mix, as well. I did detect some differences from other versions I have heard, with some scenes not having quite the punch they had before, but that is either my memory or my system. It still sounds good and immersive. It is nothing to complain about, for sure. If you can find it, and you're a fan of the film, definitely pick this one up. There seemed to be a shortage of this film at retailers, with only Best Buy having it on shelves...way to go, Best Buy! I was fortunate enough to pick one up on release day. Stores are shirking their selection, which is a shame. I always enjoy browsing and picking up titles at the store. Luckily, I found one when I drove to my local store on my lunch break. Best Buy, if you're listening, we physical media collectors want to see more titles in the stores. This is a great disc. Definitely an upgrade worthy of your dollars.

Color timing is a tad cold compared to other releases like Arrow, but still just a great look. The HDR makes the snow and shadows pop out so nicely.

Great looking copy of this classic. Doesn’t look too fake like some 4K movies out there. A must for movie fans

This is one of my favorite horror movies of all time. The Thing is a masterpiece! In my opinion John Carpenter's best movie.

John carpenters the thing is an under appreciated classic horror film. It’s an intelligent horror film. The characters aren’t stumble or making poor choices. The thing shows up unpredictably. The special effects are amazing, and show the best of practical effects.

Amazing 4k transfer to a great horror movie. One of the must own 4k movies out there.

Good old fashioned suspense horror drama movie, they don’t make them like these anymore

This version of the film looks a lot cleaner than the previous release. I’d recommend buying this version of it if you wanna pay the extra money. Love Scream Factory. You should also definitely watch The Thing if you haven’t, it’s a frickin classic.

Such a great movie! This is in the middle as far as 4k movie quality goes but still a big jump from regular Blu Ray

How many of yall knew the Norwegian soldier at the beginning of the film is yelling the plot of the movie!? It roughly translates to "get away you idiots its not a DOG its a THING ITLL KILL YOU ALL!" gotta appreciate good films like these
