There is not much to say about "The River" that has not been said since it's original release. Focusing on this expanded set, highlights include the 10 song disc that would have been a single LP release prior to reconsidering "The River" as a double album. It has three songs that ultimately did not make the final release as well as alternative versions of songs that did get released. "The River Outtakes" disc is the sort of collection that back in the day, we hardcore fans would hit every legitimate record store, obscure ones, and even people who sold bootlegs out of the trunks of their cars trying to get a hold of unreleased material we knew existed. Many of these appear on the "Tracks" box set, but if you did not purchase that, you'll appreciate their inclusion here! The documentary disc is illuminating and gives you great insight as to what the songwriter and the band were trying to accomplish with "The River". It is astounding how much writing Bruce was doing from "Darkness on the Edge of Town" through "The River". It still causes me to shake my head as we'd wait 2-4 years for Springsteen to release an album and here he was with 60 to 100 unreleased songs! Finally, after all those years of seeing "Rosalita" and other limited footage from the legendary ASU concert, it is GREAT to finally see this show and the rehearsal of five songs! The packaging and the book are also well done! Worth every penny! What they have done with the special releases of "Born to Run", "Darkness", and now "The Ties That Bind - The River" is fantastic and much appreciated!

The Boss's music continues to get better and better. The DVD's and CD's of the River Box Collection are superb.

Bruce Springsteen is an awesome live perfomer. Highly recommend

This is a good package, but for the price I kind of expected more.
