This film was directed by Hayao Miyazaki and is actually his very final film he'd ever make. The movie is heartwarming and dramatic just like any other Miyazaki film, but it feels like all of the other things that made Miyazaki films great was all combined in this. There are refrences of his love of literature (The character Hans Castrop is also a character in The Magic Mountain), the film shows Miyazaki's love for airplanes, and it has that beautiful score as in every Miyazaki film. so go pick it up and give it a watch!

It was an OK movie but definitely not one of his best. I would put it on a level with his less known work. Worth watching but its no Spirited Away.

Saw this movie when it was in theaters and really liked it. It's kind of like a biography, but has dream sequences of the main character talking to his aviation idol, which makes it a bit more interesting. Bought it to give as a gift and recipient loved it. Haven't heard anything about the bonus features, so I can't comment on that.

EXCELLENT ANIMATED STORY beautifully told through the Japanese perspective. Set prior to WW 2, the protagonist dreams of flying and building the perfect plane. But between falling in love and the winds of war, his life and his ideas are changed. This is wonderful film. SHOULD SEE & highly recommended.

The Wind Rises was supposed to be Studio Ghibli studio-head Hayao Miyazaki's final film before retiring, but he has since announced that he will direct a new film in the near future. Had this been his final film, it would stand out as one of his best. Highly recommended!

Beautifully told tale as only Miyazaki can tell. The animation is gorgeous, and the story is fascinating. Miyazaki delivers the unique life of the man who designed the Japanese fighter planes during WW2. Nominated for Best Animated Motion Picture by the Academy Awards.

I really enjoy this movie. While not my favorite Studio Ghibli movie, Miyazaki's love of flying is present here and very infectious. Great voice work by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, too!

The Bluray arrived basically wrapped in a single piece of cardboard, but there was no damage to the item. The film itself is a bit more sobering than some of Miyazaki's other works - more mature than Totoro or Ponyo, but beautiful nonetheless.

If you haven't seen Hayao Miyazaki, buy this or Spirited Away. After you watch the first of his animated films, you will want to see the entire series. Good for adults and young people alike. The characters, animation, and storyline are exceptional. You won't be disappointed.

This is one of my absolute favorites from Studio Ghibli. Not as traditional as some of Miyazaki's magical stories, but is by far the best animated drama I have ever seen. A must have!

Great family movie. No violence, no cursing, no "scenes", just awesome movie that whole family can enjoy. Look up more movies by Studio Ghibli. Luv them all.

This has to be Hayao Miyazaki's best work. I have watched this multiple times and I am very please with the story and the art work put into this movie. It's a shame he is retiring, however I believe the company is in good hands and will continue to make great films.

Another great Studio Ghibli film. Very entertaining. So far I have only watched the Japanese language version with English subtitles. Love the steelbook design.

Studio Ghibli has an amazing way of surprising you with these heartfelt films. the take a perspective that is always unexpected. I found myself locked in, the story is beautiful and worth a watch.

I've watch most of Studio Ghibli's movies and they don't disappoint. This one has a different perspective in the area of historical fiction. The movie is inspiring, beautifully rendered and emotional. There's quite a bit of smoking by the main character, which they could've done away with or kept to a minimum. I'm not sure I like the end, but I won't spoil it for you. You have to watch it!

This is a great final Miyazaki film. It is not for children though due the pervasive smoking and disturbing images despite its PG-13 rating. But it is an excellent anime movie about planes and dreams. If you haven't seen this, you should. It is a masterpiece.

Another example of Miazaki and the people at Studio Ghibli raising the bar not only in animation but storytelling. Compelling visuals and, for those who take notice, a lot of the sound effects were done by actual peoples' voices. Well worth the watch. :)

Sad day. Miyazaki's last film before retirement. I have always been a fan of his movies and now my kids are too. Although this film is not for kids like Totoro or Castle in the Sky, the films beauty and poetic nature rivals that of any other of his movies.

One of my top 3 Studio Ghibli films. It's a beautiful story with absolutely lovely animation. The film follows Jiro who strives to design an innovative plane. Please give this one a shot; it's completely worth it.

Like all of Studio Ghibli's films the story is wonderful, the imagery is stunning and for this particular story, more nailed to the ground or normal than some of the other ones but I still love it!
