My two favorite types of video games are first person shooters and racing games. The more realistic the racing game the better. The Thrustmaster T248R makes that dream a reality. The last time I owned a racing wheel and pedals it was probably in the PlayStation 2 era and commercial wheels have come a long way since then. I believe the T248R sits somewhere in the mid-range when it comes to racing sims. It is much better than the cheap ones but of course there are much better ones that are also more costly. Thrustmaster products are built extremely well they do not feel cheap, and this wheel/pedal combo is no exception. The pedals have great feedback, and the brakes have come with multiple springs that allow 4 different adjustments to make it feel exactly how you want. Personally, I left it the way it comes and it felt great. The steering wheel has something that Thrustmaster calls hybrid drive. This belt/gear system gives real time feedback allowing for smooth and flexible driving. There is a small LCD screen included on the wheel that can show many things including race information. As far as compatibility, the system can be used on PS4, PS5 and PC. There is a handful of games that is has direct compatibility with, but it might work with more than what was on the list. One of my personal favorites to play was Dirt 5. I love that this can also be used on PC because it allows for an expanded SIM racing catalog. One of my biggest complaints is that there is no shifter included. There is one that can be purchased separately but I find it funny that it has three pedals with no shifter. For most of the games I play it makes the third pedal useless. However, I have found a way to make it useful buy programming it to be an e-brake for drifting and it works quite well. Overall, this is a great wheel. It is easy to use and a great place to start if you are new to the SIM racing world. It feels and works great just like many of the highest end wheels. It does not offer much upgradability such as different wheels, so you are stuck with what you get. However, for most people it is more than enough.

I remember being a kid and some of my favorite memories were going to my local arcade and playing the latest racing games. There was nothing like the thrill of gripping a steering wheel and using the pedals to control the car. So I was genuinely excited when I got my hands on the Thrustmaster T248R racing wheel. The first thing you notice when you take it out of the box is the build quality. Even though it's mainly plastic, it feels very sturdy. The clamp holds it firmly in place, and the pedals have a satisfying heft with good resistance when you press them down. Overall, the build quality is highly impressive. Setup was also easy—just a couple of cables connected and the wheel clamped to my desk, and I was ready to go. If you're using it on a PC, it works right out of the box, but to unlock all the features, you’ll want to download the software for the wheel. Once I was up and running, the experience was awesome. The wheel is incredibly responsive, and the pedals feel resistant without being too stiff. Everyone in my family wanted to try it—even my kids, who are usually glued to their tablets, came over and had a blast. If you enjoy racing games and want to make the experience more immersive, I definitely recommend getting this wheel. It’s very well built and performs amazingly.

I added the Thrustmaster T248R Racing Wheel and Pedals to my setup to get a more immersive racing experience on PlayStation 5, and it completely changed how racing games feel. I'm a big GT player and this was so fun to add in! Coming from a controller, the difference was immediate. The force feedback is detailed and responsive, letting you feel road texture, curbs, braking pressure, and when the car starts to lose traction. It makes every lap feel more engaging and realistic. The wheel itself feels sturdy and well built, with a comfortable grip that holds up during longer sessions. The button layout is easy to learn, so I was able to focus on racing instead of hunting for controls. The built in display on the wheel is a nice touch and makes it easy to adjust settings or see key info without breaking immersion. The magnetic pedals are a standout. The brake pedal has a solid, progressive feel that made braking more consistent and controlled, especially when pushing hard into corners. Setup on PlayStation was quick, and everything worked right away. If you are looking to step up from a controller and want a racing wheel that feels immersive, responsive, and fun, the T248R is an excellent choice.
