Worth the upgrade from the t300

MY OPINION IS BASED OFF GT7 USAGE ONLY. For those inquiring about transitioning from a T300 to the T598, I've personally made that switch, so here's my take. The wheel isn't superior to the T300 factory rim; it feels cheap, and the buttons are unreliable, often resulting in double inputs or no input at all. The paddle shifts are satisfying, but there's noticeable latency between shifting and in-game response, which could be an issue with GT7 or the wheel itself. The wheel base has significant potential, but currently, the T300 offers better detail for road, curb, and rumble strips. This makes sense as the T598 doesn't yet have native support and the T300 has been supported for years. Torque is definitely an upgrade, and the wheel base shows great promise. The pedals are vastly superior to the modified T3PA pedals I used previously. However, I would prefer a stiffer brake spring. The small base plate is an issue, especially for the third pedal, but I've heard that the load cell option will come with a larger base plate. I managed to bolt the pedals to my rig with some drilling. I typically race for 3-4 hours at a stretch, and while the wheel base gets very hot, there's been no noticeable FFB fade. Time will tell how the heat affects it long term. Overall, if you're upgrading from almost any belt-driven wheel base, this is a solid choice. However, if you already have a TGT/II or are coming from another DD, you might want to wait until the software is more refined before making the switch.

Superb Value With A Couple of Major Flaws

If you need PlayStation compatibility it’s only direct drive drive competitor is the Fanatec Gran Turismo DD Pro wheel base that normally costs $500 for just the wheel base and then you will still need the CSL wheel $120 and CSL pedals $80 to be a direct comparison plus a shipping fee direct from Fanatec that puts you well over $700 making the Thrustmaster the least expensive option on the market. Also if you go with the Fanatec you loose the PlayStation buttons that the Thrustmaster has on the wheel. I’ve been using it for going on a month and it’s been great and a great step up from my belt driven Thrustmaster GT T300 RS. It’s got a good 300mm wheel that’s great for the price point. I like the red/black colors and the buttons are pretty good but not great. Now onto the flaws that to me are maybe deal breakers when combined. First I’m no fan of the wheel base as it’s so tall I had to get creative to even be able to see the lower part of my monitor screen. The second flaw and major oversight in my opinion is the raceline pedal set is way to skinny to even consider adding a clutch pedal to it. If you did add one get ready for a very cramped and uncomfortable experience. Now if you don’t need or want a clutch your all good but I do so that forces me to buy one of Thrustmaster other pedal sets and that just took away a big advantage the Thrustmaster had over the Fanatec in value. These flaws are probably a deal breaker for me but I’m not 100% if I’m going to return it but it’s probably going to be the case. You see I just bought the complete setup from Fanatec (with 8nm upgrade) with load cell break for just over $900 and once I get it I’m going to compare them directly to see what one is going to keep my money. For my wallets sake hopefully the Thrustmaster wins!

It does require a firmware update to work on PC, but the difference between this and a Logitech G923 is night and day. Super smooth, quiet, and allows you to fine tune it from the wheel base. I was worried about it working with Forza Motorsport, but the game recognized it and all the buttons work perfectly. I don't know how well it works on Playstation, but on PC it is all the wheel you need if you want to get serious. The pedals are also much better than I expected. The brake is easy to modulate, and the accelerator is just right.

Paired with Gran Turismo 7, the feedback and pedals allow for much finer modulation of throttle and brake and ‘feel’ of driving, adding in a psvr2 turns racing into a more intense experience that at times can turn races into a feat of endurance, the only downside is Hall effect sensors rather than pressure on the pedals for the price point

Well made wheel, good feedback, and tactile button clicks. The wheel is plastic, but seems to be higher quality and durable. Only downside is the price, I feel it is still too expensive for what you are getting.

I'm giving this wheel 5-stars because of the quality and price point. Comparing this to the Logitech G923, the direct drive is far superior. Shifting pedals are much more realistic while you give up a little with some plastic on the wheel, this is an awesome mid-tier set up. The pedals have a great amount of adjustments from height, to resistance. Once installed, it does work with Dirt 2 on PS5 straight away.

Don't buy gear driven or belt driven and spend 350. For 500 you get direct drive that's smoother and will last a lot longer.

Good wheel but needs alot of tweaking, the out of box firmware was barely usable with the base constantly disconnecting. Updating requires a windows computer

I dont gave experience with any other DD and apent a long time going back and forth between the popular brands and torque strengths. In the end I settled on this wheel. The 5.5 Nm is more than enough to get the feeling without fighting the wheel. Force feedback is supposed to be just that, feedback, not an arm workout, so i feel like it does the job with very smooth efficiency. The pedals are adequate, being that its thrustmaster i am sure they will make a addon for load cell in the future. The set was a great addition to my sim rig and the thrustmaster shifter completed the set so i can use it for PC and Console.

Very impressive! Highly recommend (especially for PC, and now probably the best option for PlayStation) I was very surprised by the power, feedback, and most importantly the smoothness of this T598. Perfect for racing and drifting! This is far superior to a G29 at a similar price point and most definitely worth the upgrade!

Good entry level rig. Torque feels good, pedals are a solid for an entry level rig. I ended up upgrading to the rs50 but this is still a really good choice and would still recommend. The wheel feels a little cheaper than the rs50 but thrustmaster has better upgraded wheels. The paddle shifter has a nice crisp feel, and although the wheel feels like rubber, it’s very comfortable and good without gloves

Products needs some updating. Tends to run a bit warm while using. Updating firm ware has become a task. Even downloading the app no update pops up yes there is an update 2.07 currently. Mine is running 1.83 still a value easy to use.

Pedals are a bit too close together but good for bundle price. Wheel itself is a much better (bigger) size than the g29 and smooth movement. It has a feature that creates force feedback whenever you shift up or down using the paddles and it is a really cool immersion feature! I like this better than Moza R5!

I've tried several wheels and this bridges the gap nicely from the entry level to the top tier. I provides great feedback and the totally customizable settings are on point. It pushes and pull in the turns and you really feel connected to the car. The only draw back would be that it does get a little warm during extending gameplay.

Best wheel Ive ever used and yet it only costs a little more than a mid tier wheel like the T300 despite being twice as good (easily) Works amazing with GT7, just make sure you update the firmware of the wheel.

Beats the absolute heck out of my G29. Very strong, fast, and quiet. Petals could use an upgrade, but are really well built. Only issue I have is it constantly slightly vibrates when turned on.
