New Version of the OZ Story

This dvd set was marked down to 4.99 and sounded pretty interesting, so I bought it. It's an updated version of the Wizard of Oz - really, kind of a sequel, as there are references to the original story. It was pretty good. The sets and cg were scene stealers. The story line wasn't hard to follow and the acting wasn't bad. I expected to see more of Richard Dreyfus. For the price, I'll keep it and maybe watch it again on a cold, snowy day this winter.

    Tin Man

DG is an under emotional outsider who is stuck in a place where she doesn't fit. She doesn't know who she is or where she belongs but she knows it isn't in the middle of Kansas waiting tables in a roadside diner. This mini series is not a retelling of the original Wizard of OZ that starred Judy Garland. The series pays homage to the original through the use of characters that vaguely resemble the original Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tin Woodsman and Cowardly Lion. It shows that history repeats itself and that the fight against evil is an ongoing battle. It is a shame that all of that is not clarified until the end of the movie because viewers who don't generally care for the Sci Fi genre or are die hard fans of the original movie have their eyes glass over before they get to that revelation and thus miss it totally. This is a fun series though a little long for some. To pare it down to a three hour movie is possible but would eliminate all of the back story that explains why things are the way that they are.

OMG! best twist on an orginal

This was awesome! It was a twist on a classic to bring up to times. I loved Wizard of Oz, but this mini series just blew my mind. It was up to date with the times, and showed "OZ" at a later time with out really mentioning that in the movie. Its showing how a perfect world it used to be, and how it gets turned into this in time due to a Power-crazed person. And having watched Wizard of Oz and Wicked, this was just another great additive to those movies, something to answer some of the what ifs we had with the others, such as what if she wasnt killed what would had happened. And what if it was in 2008 and not 1939. Was a movie that your parents liked as the orginal but the your kids and grandkids needed an update, and thats exactly how it was.

    Awesome Watch

I stumbled upon this miniseries in error, last night, and I have to say...I'm seriously glad that I did. I was glued to the screen, even afraid to take a bathroom break, for fear I'd miss something crucial. This is a great watch for anyone open-minded and non-judgemental of the classic enough to see the storyline/plot behind it. Zooey may not have been as overly-emotional as Judy Garland, but this was a modern-day spinoff (spinoff, not a remake, be very careful not to expect a remake when you watch this, or you will not enjoy it as much as you should) that is perfect for those (indcluding myself) under 30, who respect the original movie, but can embrace a new twist in a new movie. I definitely want to purchase this, to watch it over and over again. And who can resist Alan Cumming?

    Disappointing

Perhaps my expectations were too high for this movie, because I did not enjoy what I saw. First off, why is it called the Tin Man, when he is not the focal point of the movie? He was also a terrible character and the nickname of the "tin man" was not very clever. And he was so UGLY! I wanted to cry! When DG finds him, she discovers him in a tin coffin - that would have been a great explanation. Instead, he was called a tin man because he was a cop. And they might have well just have called her Dorothy. I don't think DG was an original nickname at all. And as much as I like Zooey, she looked a bit too old for the part. She had a lot of wrinkles for someone who was playing twenty. I'm assuming she's young, but she did not look it. And she had rat nest hair. And her clothes were terrible! They were obviously trying to make her look younger with her outfit, but it was really just unflattering. DG should have just been in her waitress uniform. Azkadellia was pretty good. I loved how her tattoos flew off her body - but then there's that sappy happy ending. Even the bad guy gets saved! Psychic lion-man hybrids are pretty cool. But honestly, this could have been a lot better. Your imagination is limitless when you're in Oz, and this is what they came up with? It was also in bad need of editing. Instead of making it a mini-series, they should have just made it a two hour movie. Richard Dreyfuss is the only thing that made this worth seeing. I had great expectations for this, but I should have known better. This is only slightly better than the other junk they make on the Sci Fi Channel. I love fantasy movies, so I was majorily disappointed.

I love this made for Syfy film. The plot is amazing and I fell in love with the characters. It's not the same old rendition of the Wizard of Oz, but a new story with a plot line that can fit into the original. Take a look at what happend to Oz after Dorothy left.

This movie (first shown on the Sci-fi channel) was very entertaining with out being "out there" sci-fi all the way. Zooey has kind of a boring voice in places but the rest of the cast was right on! It was a great spin off of Wizard of Oz. I liked it, my 7 year old daughter liked it.

Tin Man from start to finish is a ride through OZ like no other. I belive this to be one of Alan Cummings best preformances yet. Likewise all the actors did a fantastic job, and Lovely cinamatography all around.
