This vacuum was amazing, but I had to return. It’s cordless and when used on high, you only get about 10 minutes of vacuum time.

There is a lot of cardboard here to get rid of after you unpack this. Things are packaged well and nothing really has a chance to get damaged during shipping short of a truck crushing it utterly.
There are several stickers that have to be removed - and most leave behind a nasty residue, and that's always one of my pet peeves with new products. There are so many better ways to attach stickers and notices to a device that do NOT leave behind any residue that you need goo-gone or something to clean up.
Once unpacked, I got it charging. The vacuum itself shows the charge level, the battery charger on the side has no way to know when it's charged or not. But this is also another way they could have improved the product - many devices have screens that can flip. Since this stores and charges upside down, it would have been nice if either the entire display flipped, or at least just the percentage, so it was simple and easy to read when it's on the charger.
I have been using Dysons for decades. I started with their very first one available here in the states, and have stuck with them. Every time I tried another brand, I was disappointed. I have the V8 cordless and two different corded full sized vacuums.
So I wanted to see how this would compare, had to head, against the V8 that I have. It's not their newest, but it still works great as it's only about three months old.
I got the app set up, which was simple enough to do. Turn it on for 2 seconds, then remove the bin, hit the wireless button underneath, and then set it up for your WIFI network. Took a minute or two, and I had no hangups anywhere. I had to create an online account, another thing that went smooth, and strangely enough this is the only thing I think I've set up in years where it didn't confirm the email address used to register. So I guess you could probably just make up any email address and be good to go as long as you didn't need to reset something. I did later get a registration successful message from them, but at no point did I have to prove the email address I used was mine.
Then came the time for the testing. I had the standard carpet brush on my Dyson, not the soft wood floor brush, and I divided my dining room in half. I vacuumed one side with the Dyson, going over it TWICE, something I never do when I'm vacuuming. I normally just go over things a single time. Then I did the same on the other side with the Tineco, vacuuming the entire area twice, just like the Dyson side, alternating directions so that I knew I had good coverage.
First thing I noted - the noise level. It's ridiculously quiet compared to the Dyson. Even on manual settings when I crank up the power, it's not as loud or high pitched as the Dyson's motor.
It moved easily, smoothly rolling across the carpet as I vacuumed. The LED light on the front is a cute little gimmick, but hardly useful since it's right at carpet level so all it really did was create more shadows along the surface of teh carpet since it's RIGHT down there on top of it. Had they actually mounted it up some on the roller attachment, or simply put little flood lights on the vacuum body itself up top, it may have been useful. But where they are positioned it does little to no good most of the time. I could see if I was vacuuming under something like a bed that it may be handy at that point. But the rest of the time, seems pointless and I wish there was a way to disable them to leave the battery for just the vacuuming portion of things.
Once both sides were done, I grabbed the Tineco to go over where I vacuumed twice with the Dyson. And I saw things getting picked up that were not caught by the Dyson. I thought this was a good sign, until I had the exact same results on the Tineco side with the Dyson, picking up things that the other didn't. I tried again in the great room, then the hallways, and it's always the same result - each picks up some stuff that the other didn't. This may simply be due to the brush materials, that each grabs fibers from the carpeting that the other can't grab.
The display is definitely beyond Dyson's products. My V8 has no display at all, and even their newest flagship doesn't have this much information.
The power adjustment with the sliding controller worked well, and it's nice to have more than just a HIGH / LOW option like I do on the Dyson.
I am trying to see if I can see anything specific changing as I vacuum and it senses more or less dust and such, but it seems to be stuck in the same position consistently. Which simply tells me there's not much dirt in my carpets. Makes sense since I vacuum, and there's only my son and I here, not much traffic.
I was disappointed that the website shows the list of accessories that come with it, but the product doesn't actually come with what is listed for the base model even. For the base S12, the manufacturer's page shows 7 attachments, and this came with only 6. There is no flexible long crevice tool included that they show for the S12 or the S12 plus. I didn't expect all the extras the S12 Plus came with, but I would have hoped it was at least comparable with the base model. But the website doesn't even show the EX model so it may just be this is a lesser model than the standard S12. Not enough information available at this time. But it did come with the rest, which in some instances seem a waste. There is a 2 in 1 dusting brush, so what is the need for a soft dusting brush? Especially as the bristles on the 2 in 1 seem a bit softer and more flexible than the soft dusting brush anyway.
I do like that it also comes with a tool to clean the filter. That's a nice touch, something else the Dyson doesn't have.
The generic brush head seems to work about as well as the Dyson one does on the hard flooring surfaces like the tile in the kitchen and bathroom.
I am not a fan though of the bin compared to the Dyson. It just isn't as smooth and easy to open, close, empty, or remove. It works, it just isn't as nicely engineered apparently.
Attachments are easy enough to swap out, and I have no issues with anything coming off or feeling loose.
And overall this feels nicely constructed. The plastic isn't cheap feeling, and the entire unit exudes solidity, reliability.
One big win over Dyson - removeable batteries, so you can charge while vacuuming. Having two that you can swap out just means this suddenly becomes a potential vacuum for an entire house, something that the Dyson models with their single built in battery can't really claim. That is why I still have two Dyson corded vacuums, since if I want to do a whole house cleaning, the cordless one would not last long enough. This one, though, could. And if two batteries aren't enough for your mansion, you could always buy additional.
So my testing leaves me unable to say that this cleans better than the Dyson. But unlike most other vacuums I've tried over the years, at least it semes to clean as WELL as the Dyson. It has features the Dyson doesn't come with, and more attachments that are standard, even if it is missing one that is advertised. The control of the unit with the variable power slider, and its own ability to sense and adjust itself automatically are even more features that Dyson lacks. As is the removable battery.
This really does a good job of being able to compete head to head with the Goliath of the vacuum world, and to beat it in some ways. And right now it is on sale, making it even MORE of a viable option for someone looking for a good vacuum.

A Smart Vacuum That Really Feels Smart!

PROS
+ The Smart “Auto” mode really works, with automatically adjusting power that scales with how dirty the floor is, saving power and battery in the process
+ The onscreen display is very handy, with the smart sensor/dust monitoring loop helping ensure areas are properly cleaned before you move on
+ With the screen, the vacuum also has handy notifications for when the brush roller is tangled, air channel is blocked, dust sensor is malfunctioning, battery level, Wi-Fi indicator, and suction power level
+ When you want to, manually adjusting the power level is super easy with the touch strip that lets you adjust the power as you move your finger up and down the sensor
+ The top end suction power is very good, especially for a cordless vacuum, with ample power to clean all of the floors in our house
+ With the variety of attachments, and the ability to be a handheld vacuum, it is highly versatile in nature
+ Easy to clean all parts, including the filters, with a dedicated automatic pre-filter cleaning tool included, and a nice bag to hold your accessories, as well as storage spots on the mounting/charging station
+ Two batteries to keep it going for a full session and then some, while not needing a cord to tether you to one area
+ Overall great build quality
+ Nice and quiet for a vacuum
CONS
- The dust container is pretty small, even for a stick vacuum, meaning if you have a large house or a lot of dirt/dust, you may need to empty it several times to clean everything
- The corresponding app, while novel, doesn’t really add much value, and can be needlessly tricky to connect to the vacuum
My Opinion
When looking at a fundamental device like a vacuum, one thing I think you need is for it to perform that one function well: cleaning. I am very happy to report that this vacuum, while embedded with enough tech to be truly called a “smart” vacuum, does its first job extremely well, it cleans. In that case, this is simply a high performing, slim, well-constructed, sleek device that will have no trouble cleaning the dirt and dust off your carpet or hardwood floors. Beyond this, what the Tineco PureOne S12 brings to the table are smart features which genuinely help make that job of cleaning easier, and a few that are niche, but forgetful.
Namely, the smart app, which is strangely difficult to connect (I had to connect it to my WI-FI network, but only after disabling cellular data on my phone, scanning a barcode on the bottom of the vacuum, holding down the Wi-Fi connect button, and retrying a few times). Once connected, it did stay connected and I was able to turn my cellular data back on, but it was not intuitive to do. With the app you can set cleaning schedules, control the vacuum’s power while you use it, monitor how full the dust bin is, and generally monitor the functions you can see on the screen of the vacuum. However, for as novel as it is to control a vacuum with your phone, the practicality just isn’t there for me. I don’t want to be holding my phone while vacuuming, and beyond scheduling cleaning, there wasn’t really any use in using the app that I couldn’t get from the vacuum itself. Its not that the app is bad (although connecting can be frustrating) but it just doesn’t feel very necessary in the scheme of things, at least for me. It doesn’t hurt the product; it just doesn’t add much either.
However, while the app is a smart feature that isn’t quite needed, the remaining tech in the vacuum is VERY much appreciated. Namely, I love the smart loop that shows you how dirty the area is that you are vacuuming, and adjusts the power accordingly if you are in “Auto” mode. Beyond helping save power for the battery, it helps you monitor how clean your floor/carpet is, which is great when your cleaning a large area. Likewise, having monitors for any jams or blockages is a really nice touch, and at the superficial level, it looks really good having a vacuum with an LED screen like that. I can’t help but feel like I am using a vacuum of the future when looking at it, especially with the space-age white and black aesthetic.
Thankfully, as mentioned earlier, it is the performance that counts most, and in this case, it excels. Its slim, ergonomic, mobile, powerful, and all around a reliable performer. It is easy to clean, with quick disassembly, and detailed instructions to ensure proper care. The only downside to its performance is that the dust bin is on the small side, even for a stick vacuum, which makes frequent trips to the trash can a common thing. It fills up fast, and that means you will sacrifice some time to empty it mid-vacuum in exchange for the great portability. Thankfully, when all is said and done, you can store it on the wall-mount to charge, along with the extra battery and several accessories, making it a nice home base of sorts for the vacuum when not in use. It will need to be stored someplace with an outlet so it can charge, which may mean doing some rethinking if your usual spot or closet doesn’t have an outlet near buy, but again, it’s a trade-off for a lot of convenience later not needing to plug the vacuum in.
All-in-all, it’s a great device. My biggest gripe is the dust bin size, but for all the great performance and luxuries you get from the tech, it really doesn’t feel like a deal breaker. At no point did I feel the vacuum was lacking in anything it said it could do, and while the app isn’t required, it is still there for those that want to use it. All-in-all consider me very impressed. It’s the best stick vacuum I have ever owned.

When used as a handheld there is a fatal flaw. The exhaust air flow blows forward so if you are trying to vacuum up light debris like dust bunnies the vacuum actually blows the debris away from you before it can suck it up!

After doing a lot of research I purchased a Tineco PureOne S12 EX in February 2021. All I can say is that it has been Excellent! Our house is 95% hard floors, but we do have some area rugs. It cleans them all very well. The vacuum is quiet, powerful, and lightweight. The powered brush heads are slim enough to fit under most pieces of furniture which makes cleaning under beds, sofas, and tables a breeze. Battery life has also been excellent. We can clean our entire 2,500 sq/ft home with power to spare. The 2 included removable batteries are awesome. My wife and I highly recommend this vacuum.

If i could give 0 stars I would. The machines motor doesn't work. it stopped working after 3 months and I have never been able to get a refund or get the company to honor it's warranty. Was never damaged by me or mistreated. The motor cuts on and off, when it stops it drops all debris that has been picked up.

Tineco has proven to me that it can compete with the ‘big boys’ such as Dyson and Shark. They’ve come up with a product that compares very favorably and has features that the others do not.
Most important of course is cleaning power. (That’s why you purchase a vacuum cleaner, after all.) It cleans amazingly well, especially for a cordless. AND, it’s quieter than any cleaner I’ve ever used. In the old days, they deliberately made vacuum cleaners LOUD. The thought was that buyers will think if it’s loud it must be really powerful. Thankfully that line of reasoning went out with the corded vacuums. You’ll love that you can have a normal conversation while vacuuming, and the cat won’t go running under the bed when you turn it on. I like the four LED’s that light your floor as you clean.
This thing is REALLY well built. You’ll notice the quality right away. All the accessories snap on and off really easily. Some reviewers made fun of all the stickers that are on the vacuum for new users. The purpose is to point out features you might miss and also show how you release the battery, clean the filter etc. I liked it though, as you become familiar with your new cleaner, you won’t have to keep going back and forth to the manual to figure out a feature.
The giant dashboard on the device gives you so much information. I wish my car’s dashboard told me as much. In BIG numbers it tells you numerically how much battery power you have left (no unpleasant surprises). A rainbow display lets you know exactly how much suction power the cleaner is using. This is a great feature in Auto Mode. It detects just how much dust it finds. My wife said this is great for me because it will show me exactly when the carpet is dust free. The dashboard also warns you of air channel blockage, roller tangles and if the dust sensor is working properly.
Speaking of information, I thought the idea of a wi-fi app connected to the cleaner was silly at first, but after looking at it, it really does offer helpful info. In addition to battery power and letting you know if the filter needs cleaning, if the S12 detects a problem, the app shows exactly how to CORRECT the problem. For example if your air filter is blocked, it shows you exactly how to correct it. This is helpful because while you most likely have your phone with you, you probably wouldn’t carry the Tineco manual around with you, or even remember where you put it.
Included are two batteries, each one long lasting due to the cleaner’s power management. If you need another one, no problem, it’s stored right in the cleaner’s wall mount where it’s always fully charged. The wall mount also holds three accessories and the Tineco comes with a very convenient accessory bag with a loop to hang right by the cleaner for the others.
I almost forget about a feature that made me smile when I first saw it. The included “pre-filter cleaner.” It’s important that the pre-filter be clean, otherwise vacuum power is greatly diminished. You just pop the filter cleaner on the vacuum head, put the dirty pre-filter in the device and in one minute the Tineco will clean it, dispatch the dust to the cleaner’s dirt cup, and turn itself off. The S12 comes with two pre-filters by the way. It’s amazing that the developers thought of something like this!
As you can see, I’m really impressed in so many ways by the S12. It’s expensive, but I think you’ll find it’s worth it in imagination, quality, and cleaning power.

This product is a total game-changer! Despite years of loyalty to Dyson stick vacuums, this one has truly stolen the spotlight. With two mature huskies and a lively two-year-old in our household, messes are just part of daily life. But with this vacuum, cleaning up those messes, big or small, is a breeze. The convenient charging dock and included extra battery mean we can tackle our entire home in one go, which is simply invaluable. It's definitely worth the investment, and we've already had multiple family members and friends purchase one too. Highly recommended!

Easy to assemble and understand. Did not link to my phone. Feel it was not necessary for my use. Powerful vacuum. Love the extra battery.

Cleaned Dirt Like I've Never Seen Before

This Tineco PureOne S12 EX cordless vacuum is an excellent addition to your cleaning arsenal at home. To me it's not too heavy and for a quick cleanup does the job well. The included attachments provide handy ways to do more specific cleaning of furniture (pets and their fur) as well as stairs, corners, or hard to reach areas.
I do have a few complaints that are not deal killers for me. It does get clogged rather easily but because it's so easy to take apart it's easy to clean and unclog. I don't really see the need for the wi-fi capability and companion app as I do not want to install another app on my phone or bother connecting yet another "smart" appliance to my home network. I just want a cordless vacuum. They advertise up to 50 minutes of. cleaning but I've been averaging around 30 minutes. I live in a smaller space so for me that's fine. YMMV if you have a larger space to clean.
Overall this is a fine cordless vacuum cleaner.

Amazing, but not "perfect"

Over the past decade, household vacuums have really, really come a long way. From your typical vacuum to "robotic" vacuums, and now to "smart vacuums." Dependent upon one's "wants and needs" in a product will determine what type of vacuum you may consider. With that said, If you're considering any sort of vacuum at the present time, this "smart" cordless vacuum should be on any shortlist of top contenders.
As this is my first experience with using a "smart vacuum", I was amazed the performance this vacuum gives for a smaller vacuum. It is light to hold, easy to maneuver around furniture (and under some furniture), and it comes with a plethora of attachments, which some I'm not even sure I'll ever use! The suction is great and can be adjusted easily, though I find myself always keeping it at the maximum for effective cleaning. The display is also pretty awesome at sensing how "clean" an area is. I've found this to be pretty helpful as I have a furry pet and often times I'm not sure how thoroughly clean an area I've vacuumed is. The first few times I used this vacuum, I found myself emptying the bin pretty often - and I thought I usually have my home "mostly" clean!
One of the coolest features about this vacuum is it's companion app. However, I can see this also being a "con" for some. Though it was a little confusing to set up and I eventually got app to link to my vacuum, setting up the app and linking the product was a little challenging, even for a guy like myself as I consider myself "moderately tech savvy." For someone not so much, I can imagine this part being a little challenging. Another thing that I believe to be a "con" is the battery life, which take a while to charge once drained, and from my experience thus far, they drain pretty fast. Luckily, this product does come with a spare battery, so while using one with the vacuum, you can have the other one charging. Granted, I do live in a larger home and have more "ground" to clean, but I did expect the overall battery life to be better.
While this vacuum is pretty great for tidying up a few rooms at a time, I would not say this is a product that can replace your "normal" vacuum just yet, and nor do I think it is meant to. However, if you live in a smaller home - a condo or apartment - this may be all that you ever need!

We got this vacuum to replace our Dyson that broke and it feels a bit heavier but still does a good job of picking things up. The auto feature and light are great! Since we've only used it a handful of times so far we haven't tested all the attachments yet. However, the battery life on this vacuum has been great!

As a former Dyson customer, I have to say that this vacuum is just as good if not, better. The suction power is superb from the lowest to the highest setting. Battery life is a lot better especially with the second back up battery. I have to say I may never go back. Tineco for the win!

Unboxing the Tineco S12 was a little more challenging than I expected. So much cardboard! On the upside, all of the many included parts were very well protected in various padded bags and individual boxes. Everything arrived in pristine condition. There are a lot of included parts. I can't think of an accessory I might want that is not included.
So far, my favorite attachment would be the mini power brush. Attached directly to the vacuum main body, it's very lightweight and easy to maneuver. It makes short work of the stairs.
Back to the main vacuum head. It does a wonderful job on carpet and hard floors. I love the LEDs that light the way, and it really picked up anything I threw at it. Our dog’s long hair became an issue as it wound around the beater brush. It didn't affect performance, but the brush is visible through the clear vacuum head, so it was obvious that something was wrapped up on it. Hair wound around the beater brush has been an issue with every vacuum we've ever had, but this one is the easiest to clean, by far. The beater brush is easily removable from the vacuum head! No more getting down on the floor in an awkward position trying to wrest hair and debris from the brush. I removed the brush, slid the included hair cleaning tool under the wound-up hair, and voila! The tangle is gone. When your cleanup is completed, replacing the brush in the head is easy.
The display on this vacuum conveys more information than a vintage car dashboard! Highlights are battery life, dust monitoring sensor, and power indicator (I called it motor speed until I read the manual). The motor speed can be left on automatic or set manually using a touch slider. Automatic seems to do a great job. It extends battery life/vacuum run time by operating the motor only as fast as it needs to. Speed varies as dust is detected, and you can follow the action by observing the color of the dust monitoring loop; as dust is detected, the blue loop transitions toward red, then back to blue as the dust clears.
The Tineco S12 is the quietest vacuum I’ve ever used. While running it, I was surprised that I could clearly hear the television. I can talk to someone in the room and not even raise my voice. I could probably use it in the room while someone’s on the phone and not be a nuisance. It’s that quiet.
If I had a complaint regarding its cleaning ability, it would be that it doesn't do as good a job along baseboards as I would like, even with the power set to maximum. But then there are the extendable brush attachments to get into the hard-to-reach corners.
I wish that there was a standalone way to charge/recharge the batteries that did not require a wall mount. I would really appreciate an option for a plug-in charger that would just accept the two batteries, and I could keep the vacuum and accessories out of the way in a closet.
The unit comes with two batteries. The wall-mounted dock receives the vacuum for charging, and it also has a separate receptacle for the second battery. I think I’ll need to remember to swap batteries every now and then so that one does not get used more often and perhaps shorten its life. It's nice to always have two batteries at the ready, but I don’t know how much use the second battery will get. After the first charge, I ran the vacuum continuously for about 35 minutes before the battery got below 20%. It probably would have run longer, but I was looking for tough jobs (dust bunnies under the bed) to really get a feel for its cleaning power and observe the operation of the dust monitor on the display. I love the freedom of vacuuming without a power cord getting stuck on furniture or tethering me to a room.
Overfilling the dustbin made it a chore to empty. That is not a mistake I’ll repeat. Just empty after each use, and it’s a breeze. Push the button, and the dustbin cover drops open allowing its contents to easily fall into the trash.
I think "lightweight and easy to maneuver" is probably the most apt phrase to describe this excellent vacuum. It makes short work of cleaning tasks and then stores away neatly in its wall-mounted dock. I would recommend it without hesitation.

Light weight and outstanding performance

First off, I must say I like vacuum cleaners. I have 3000 sq. ft. of carpet and 1000 sq. ft. of hardwood floors in my house on 3 levels. I have a number of cleaners from lightweight lift-aways to large uprights. I wanted something that I could have that would be lightweight and easy to move from one level to another but would perform at a very high level. This stick vacuum did not disappoint. The S12 is very lightweight and the performance and suction is outstanding. I actually vacuumed my house 3 days in a row as this vacuum is a blast to use. There are some great features you don't see in other stick vacuums. First of all the digital readout that let's you know the status of the battery and if there are any issues with the unit. Unlike other stick vacs that only adjust the suction based on whether you are on hardwood or carpet the S12 adjusts based on how much dirt it encounters and the digital readout goes from Blue to Red to let you know what it is seeing and adjusts accordingly. There is also an option to connect to their app however I did not see a need for this. There is an option to manually adjust the suction by way of a slider on the handle that works very well however I just left it in manual mode as this seemed to work perfect. The build quality of the unit is excellent. All of the components and attachments click firmly into place and lock. Speaking of attachments, it has a ton of them. Almost any kind of attachment you can think of for any type of job. The two attachments that I found most useful are the powered pet brush and the filter cleaner. The small powered attachment is so convenient for cleaning stairs of which I have a lot and this attachment does an excellent job. The filter cleaner is a really cool feature as it allows you to remove a dirty filter and spin clean it after installing a second filter that is provided. The other attachments are great but pretty self explanatory like cleaning sofas, drapes, etc. I really like the fact the vacuum can be laid pretty much flat for getting under the bed and other lower items in the room. Again unlike other stick vacs this one comes with 2 batteries and depending on how much dirt it encounters can last a good while. They claim 50 minutes although I found this a little optimistic. Having said that I was able to clean the entire house with one battery and still had some charge left. The unit also includes a mount which allows you to charge a battery in the unit and the second battery in the mount at the same time as well as hold a number of the more commonly used attachments. Very well thought out. If there was one thing that would make it even better is if the dust cannister was a little larger. It is on the small size and I have to empty it several times while cleaning but I suppose increasing the size would make the vacuum heavier or unbalanced so the trade off to have to empty it more often is probably worth it. Well this was certainly one of my longest reviews but there is simply no way to cover all the features and benefits of this vacuum in a short review. I absolutely can't say enough good things about this product and would highly recommend it to anyone considering a stick vac especially with the new lower price that it is being offered at now. Enjoy and take care.
