Purchased 2 of these to replace TIVO Romaios which died after 6 + years (apparently average life is 5 years). Some differences of course but similar to the Romaio. Overall they are working fine.

We were not impressed. The problem was it wouldn't turn on with the remote. I tried their tech support 3 times, the last time they handed me off to LG support, the TV manufacturer. After explaining to them what it was doing, they said there was nothing wrong with the TV, the TIVO was faulty. We returned to the store and bought an Amazon Re Cast.

Has all the features I wanted that is in a dish console without the price. Able to record, rewind, pause etc. The service can be as little as $10 per month or lifetime for around $200. Well worth it. I also bought the Tivo mini-lux and it works great. No extra cable, it connects through your local network. I have not really noticed that much of a change in transitioning away from satellite TV. I was already mostly watching local tv and any news sources that I was watching is on the internet. Most movies I watched were already from internet or Redbox. So I really didn't notice much change there either. The TV guide is very helpful and nice to still have that.

Tivo Edge for Antenna not built for wifi

Using wifi, not ethernet, for internet connection. DVR is located about 20 feet from modem in direct line of sight. Have to reconnect DVR to wifi the first time I turn on the tv each day (I turn off the modem overnight). Did not have to do that with old Tivo Premiere - also wifi connected. When streaming from an app, DVR will disconnect, sometimes several times over a couple hours. Tivo service says there is a problem with my wifi, but my cell phones and printer work just fine, even 60+ feet away through walls and floors. Do not recommend for wifi. Functionality otherwise is ok.

BEWARE!!!! It makes you set up an account and pay the subscription BEFORE you can get it set up. You have to commit to a years subscription, even if you just agree to pay monthly!!! I cancelled less than 24 hours after signing up and they CHARGED MY CREFIT CARD FOR THE FULL YEARLY SUBSCRIPTION!!!!!!! OMG!!! Glad I didn’t agree to the “lifetime subscription” Worked fine at set up, but the next day it gave me the “screen of death” could not get any tech help. Decided to return it since it was giving me problems less than 24 hours after setup.

This Unit was easy to hook up and didn't take very long to get up and running. I like being able to record over the air channels. Easy as selecting from the tv guide.

I gave the TiVo Edge a fair rating because it does record live TV. The unit looks sleek and doesn't take up much real estate. If you want something that you can install HBO Max, Disney+, or most of the popular apps the Edge is not for you. The system seems outdated and is rendered useless by almost every other device you own. If you really want to record live tv there are much better options.

When hooked to my antenna can only get two stations, although TV can get more. So far haven't been able to record anything. Seems to be only for streaming stations or cable. Now stuck with TIVo for year. I will keep trying, but right now think it is a rip off. Originally was bought from best buy to record off antenna and they recommended.
