Waste of time. Waste of money. The TiVo streaming system is already outdated. No HBOMax. Customer service was really bad, not in the US, could not understand a word the person was saying.

Don't buy a TiVo. Third dead hard drive.

Late last year, my old Premiere died. It's older sibling died less than a year after I purchased it, but it was covered under warranty and they provided me a new one. That one lasted about 8 years before I got the screen of death (that's a technical term in TiVo world). I figured it wasn't worth trying to replace the hard drive on such old tech, so I bought a new Edge. I have had it for 4.5 months and the hard drive died. Because it is "out of warranty" after ONLY 90 days, I have to pay $49 for a replacement. PLUS since I don't want to wait to ship it back and then wait for them to ship me a new one, I had to pay a $400 "deposit", plus tax of course, (the price of a unit) to get the new one shipped out right away.
So yeah, I love their interface but this is outrageous. To only offer a 90 day warranty means they know their product is junk. I was thinking about adding on a mini, but how do I know it will work or that the new Edge will last? Hard pass on that.

EDGE unit really NOT SO GOOD!

I've been with TIVO for over 12 years and love the whole concept and until recently was very happy with what I was getting. I had a Roamio for 8 years and loved it, hardly ever had a problem with it, then the hard drive went bad. I had the option of trying to locate a replacement or to just order a new one. My only option for OTA (antenna) connection was the EDGE. I have had nothing but problems with it since I bought it 2 months ago. It continually gets errors of Tivo service not available, staying connected, and simple menu problems. The EDGE can only record 2 programs at 1 time but Roamio could record 4 programsI wish I had taken option 1 to replace the hard drive on the Roamio. I would have to restart the system maybe 2 or 3 times a year., now its twice a week. Thankfully the restart time for the EDGE is 1/5 the time the Roamio was, but it is still a hassle. I would encourage others who are in this situation to rethink the EDGE as their DVR. I would not make the same mistake again. With so many people cutting the cord from cable, and satellite TIVO should offer more product options for OTA users

Major bugs and pre-roll ads

I have a TiVo Roamio and 3 TiVo minis (two are TiVo mini VOX's)... and get my media through an antenna in my attic and through Internet streaming. I've saved thousands of dollars on cable bills by not having cable and never missed it.
The ability to add TiVo Minis to use your TiVo on other TVs is a huge benefit. Unfortunately I'm not liking TiVo nearly as much these days. Beware the pre-roll ads that TiVo shows you before it starts streaming your recordings when using TiVo Experience 4 (TE4).
UPDATE 2021-01-03: Well, downrating to 3 stars because now my TiVo has crashed at least 2 times when I tried to start watching a recording. It looked like it crashed when it tried to show me a pre-roll ad but failed. Unacceptable. They better get this fixed quick or my rating for them will continue to drop.
UPDATE 2021-01-19: I should be watching my recordings right now but because I can't due to bugs and problems, I'm going to write these reviews and lower my rating to 2 stars. The amount of issues I've had and continue to have with TiVo is infuriating. I just want to watch my shows yet I have to see pre-roll ads that sometimes don't even work and crash the TiVo... then my TiVo minis just show me a blank screen instead of playing my recording... that is if they don't crash and reboot, in which case there is a bug that you have to watch live TV before it will play your recordings instead of a blank screen... if you can get that far without it crashing or giving you some weird error message... plus the pre-roll ads just slow everything down significantly even if they actually work right. Ridiculous. Look elsewhere at this point unless TiVo gets its act together again. If you are still using the old TE3 interface then stay there!!!! Don't upgrade. I thought by this time they would have fixed the major bugs in TE4 but they are still there and it's infuriating.

Do not buy the TiVo Edge

The TiVo Edge is on sale because it is junk. When the Edge is hooked up to your TV and you turn it on, you get a NO SIGNAL message. You have to unplug the power to the Edge and restart it to then get a TV signal. Almost every time! TiVo support is no help.

Been a TiVo uses for many years and was pleased until now. Great as fast as recording goes but the intrusive ads are ridiculous. You record shows and they stick a useless 30 sec ad before what you have just recorded. Then they stuff a bunch of services on the main menu that you can not delete. You pay for a service and are beat to death with ads. I’m looking for a replacement and hopefully I can unload on someone.

This is an update on a prior review
The operation of this device is very good.
But my device failed with less than six months.
Please not the warranty is for a year, but after ninety days they will exchange for a $50 fee and time lag in mailing the devices.
I just got my new device and it does not work so I get to make a call to Tivo.
I would highly recommend for any one thinking about this device please consider the Best But plan ! !

Biggest junk they have come out with yet. I never wrote reviews but this thing was so awful I had to write one. Shuts off non stop. It became a joke when we were watching tv. Support says yeah it’s something we are aware of.
The tivo stream is not much better. Time for them to hang it up. The products I had years ago were better.

Don't waste your money on the cheap converter boxes that record. This one is so much better. You will pay a little more but you get what you pay for and you will actually use it and enjoy it. It is a little painful to set up but once you get past that it is great.
