Customers are saying
Customers often highlight the ease of use, excellent picture quality, and smooth interface of the Mini. Many appreciate its compatibility with other TiVo boxes and the ability to stream content. While some users noted occasional lag and tuner limitations, the positive feedback on performance and ease of setup outweighs these concerns.

No wifi connection option.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I tried to put this in our dining area but there was no easy way to get Cat 5 to where we wanted the TV. The other option cable option would be a lot more expensive. Wifi would have made hook up a lot easier. I returned the item to Best Buy. I would have kept it if I had Cat 5 where I needed it.

Faulty service
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The main Tivo box hard drive failed after less than 7 months. I had to pay $50 to get a replacement box that never worked. Tivo support is horrible. Do not buy Tivo products, they're going out of business and struggling to stay afloat.

Playback issues
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased the Tivo Mini for use with a Tivo Roamio OTA DVR. The Tivo Mini is a good idea that seems to have been executed poorly. The main issue has been stuttering playback and sound dropouts. This is with a wired ethernet connection. Playback of recorded material seems to work OK, but watching channels live results in aggravating pauses and sound drop outs when the same channel displays fine on the main DVR. And sadly Tivo Tech Support wasn't any help. Also, given the price, the plastic case of the Mini looks kind of cheap (personal opinion) compared to say a Roku.

Could not get it to work.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Should be easy but was not. Had to order a TiVo MOCA adapter to make the TiVo Mini work with the TiVo DVR. The 49.99 MOCA adapter was bad out of the box. Gave up.

Does not work with Mediacom Tivo
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A standard Tivo Mini will not work with a Mediacom Tivo. Mediacom Tivo's have proprietary software that only works with the Tivo Mini's that they rent.

Had to return it
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sales reps at Best Buy said that this works wirelessly, but it does not. It has to be connected directly to our wireless router via ethernet cable.

need wired network
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.i had to return my tivo mini. it only works on a wired network. if your house is on a wireless network, don't purchase a mini(it isn't compatible)

Tivo mini
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This unit did not work with the Tivo setup I have at my home as I was told by Best Buy it would work. I was also told by the cable provider that it would work. Finally speaking with Tivo, they told me that It would not work with the other Tivos that I use in my home. So it was a waste of my money. I have 2 other Tivo units in my home and they work great, it has to do with cable provider wanting me to rent and not be able to buy my own unit.

Great Tivo Extender on Moca Network
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted to install a MoCA network in my home. My living room entertainment equipment was connecting to internal network via wifi and I was experiencing frequent connection drops and lots of "buffering" issues...so annoying. After the MoCA network was properly installed (remarkably easy to install and configure by the way) including a Point of Entry (PoE) filter; internet connection quality on the devices connected the MoCA network, over COAX, improved dramatically. Once MoCA was running as intended, I picked up this Tivo Mini for my home (upstairs) office. Tivo setup was easy enough. I did have a problem with the last step of the Tivo configuration. The last step attempts to connect to the Tivo DVR on the same MoCA network. The Tivo simply could not find my Tivo Roamio DVR. I had activated the Tivo Mini via my Tivo.com account and read that the Tivo Mini device would be activated in 24 hours. If the Gods gave me the ability to be patient, I would have accomplished very little in my life. I thought maybe the Tivo mini could not connect to my Tivo DVR because it wasn't activated, and I think I was right. I found a possible workaround, bypassing the 24 hour "wait time" online that included the following: # Activate the Tivo Mini on the Tivo Website. # Wait a few hours before setting up the Tivo Mini. # Access your Tivo DVR, go into settings and force a connection to the Tivo Service. # Reboot the Tivo DVR. Reboot the Tivo Mini and restart setup. The last step of configuration successfully detected the Tivo DVR on my MoCA network and complete access to Live TV, Recorded TV, Plex and my awesome Pandora Radio subscription. If you have a DHCP server and can assign static IP address's by MAC Address, You might also want to try to configure static IP addresses on the Tivo DVR first, verify network functionality, then run through the Tivo Mini setup entering the static IP address configured for the Tivo Mini. You probably do not have to assign static IP addresses to either device. It was an extra step I took & works great.

It's not the Mini itself, it's Tivo
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Mini functioned as it should, the Tivo package overall was really disappointing though.

DVR not found!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After spending 3 days with TiVo customer support and an extra $60 on a powered MoCa enabled splitter nothing changed. It still said it was unable to locate any DVRs. TiVo said it was because my MoCa signal was to weak. Which is weird since my other TiVos can find each other just fine. The TiVo Mini just couldn't.
